As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

heat transfer press? I'm not even sure what that is......however my BFF's mom own a dry cleaning business. Is this something they may have?? I know they "press" stuff but I'm not sure if that's what they mean. I wonder if I shouldn't ask to do my transfers over there. Now you've got me thinking!
yes a steam press is used by dry cleaning businesses so just make sure the steam is off when you press your transfers.....

I know when I made shirts for my DH's WelcomeHome ceremony they all cracked. After I had already made the tees I did see that someone now makes strechable transfers ~ I am asumming that thecracking will not happen with these. I have yet to try them b/c I didn't have time to make tees for our most recent trip, but want to make at least one for me formy bday trip.

There's a JetPro Soft Stretch inkjet transfer paper,,,, I ordered some so will be trying them soon....(sorry but upon further reading...the forum claims this paper should be used with a press only not ironing)

UPDATE-- I did order the JetPro Soft stretch and used the iron to iron it on and it did not crack after washing ---yeah!!! Unlike the craft store iron on transfer that faded and cracked after 1 wash....

I agree -- they do seem to last longer. Just be careful if you'd like to iron those shirts later as the transfer will melt if you iron it. They are also a little stiffer and don't get really soft, but they will last longer.
I tend to use both types (for darks and for light fabrics) depending on the image I'm making and the result I want.
if the image has a lot of white, I use the dark fabric transfers (otherwise, the white becomes whatever the color of the shirt is -- so Mickey's gloves and eyes could end up looking very blue on a blue t-shirt.)
if I know the white outlines around the image (necessary on the dark fabric transfers) will be too distracting, then I use the light fabric transfers and just go more gently with washing on those items.
I tend to keep the shirts long-term, but they become "gardening shirts" for me and I don't mind if they crack.

I have a question for the craft and technologically gifted. I would like to make some shirts for out trip in Sept. How do I start??? What are the names for the programs needed to do the art work? From there I'm assuming that I would just print the disign off onto the tranfer paper?!? Any help appreciated
You can find some fairly inexpensive, but somewhat limited graphics packages in the "$9.99" aisle at most big box stores and office supply stores.
I personally use PhotoShop "Elements" (~$80) and it is a pretty hefty software package with lots of bells and whistles. But I like working with hi-res images and I'm picky about how the transfers look. (I've also spent a fortune gathering hundreds of Disney coloring books and have scanned and cleaned those images to within an inch of their lives -- my images are FAB-u-lous because it's important to me -- and my OCD tendencies. )
Another option is to search on some of the sites where fans offer up their versions of t-shirts -- I know DISboards had a group, but I think some of them have been shut down.
The other alternative is to privately contact people who make custom images -- they will work with you to design something and will send you the image for you to print on your own media (t-shirt transfers, book covers, signs and decorations, etc.) Some charge for their time, some don't.
I USE MICROSOFT "PICTURE IT" THAT CAME WITH MY COMPITER, IT HAS A "MIRROR IMAGE" SETTING FOR TRANSFERS. & IT IS EASY ENOUGH FOR ME TO USE

I just finished making my shirts for our trip and I gotta say, I used both the dark transfers and the light and I prefred the light much more! I felt the colors were much more brilliant (I know, very contrary to what I have read everywhere) and they just look better than the dark transfers. Maybe it's my printer but that was my results.
I used Photoshop to design and manipulate my designs for the t-shirts.
