As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Definitely pack a first aid kit....I bought a small one at the drug store....contains alot of stuff for such a small box....then I add more bandages (different sizes) for blisters.....cotton balls......cotton swabs......antibiotic ointment.....hydrocortisone cream....polysporin.....benadryl for allergic reactions......etc. Better to be safe than sorry.

They make Benedryl for kids, just check out your local pharmacy or discount store. It's everywhere. They box may say for ages 6 and above, but call your pediatrican and ask for a dosage amount before you go. It's weight based at that age. You'll probably never need it, but it's better to be safe then sorry!! It also works for sniffles, sneezes and runny noses too!!

Thank you all for your suggestions. There were a couple of items I completely forgot about that are now on my list. Speaking of which, a temporary dental kit; where do you find something like that?
I usually keep a few OTC meds in an old Rx bottle as needed. Is that okay for travel regulations or do I have to keep all OTC in original (100ct +) bottles?
Granted I am out of luck with the children's OTC liquid medications... wish they had a travel size for that!
Also at home, I've got one of those weekly pill box cases with vitamins, etc. Okay to bring along or better to leave at home?
Normally I don't think about indigestion and allergic reactions. But just in case, any preferences and is it safe for a 3 year old?
We use Orajel until we can get to a real dentist. Its great for pain.
All of the above, plus Tegaderm, sterile 4x4s and 2x2s, self-adhering elastic bandages, povidine pads, alcohol pads, #11 scalpel, moleskin and, most importantly, my Epi-Pen. I literally don' leave home without it.

When traveling, I always take meds (OTC and Prescription) in marked containers -- I don't want to risk losing it at security or customs -- I'd rather pay a bit more for a smaller bottle for travel, even if I refill it from a bigger bottle as long as its the SAME THING. I also don't want to be detained asking questions about the little pills in the unmarked container.....
Also, if anything were to happen, and I would need assistance, and wasn't able to speak for myself, the bottles will tell others what I'm taking. I also keep a list in my wallet with anything I may be taking and the dosage if appropriate.

Genius!! This was mentioned before on another board but I wanted to make sure and point it out again. A list of your meds, basic health history (ie, diabetic, heart disease, stroke, asthma etc) and ALLERGIES are so helpful to a medical team if you are unable to answer questions yourself!! Keep a little list somewhere on your person. Also, a lot of the new cell phones have a tab for In Case Of Emergency at the top of the contacts list. In mine there is a place where I can put notes as well as contact numbrs. In the notes I have my health info plus my kids just in case.

BTW, I did exactly that with my mini-kit. Found single dose pouches in the $ aisle and figured that would be easier. Yes, being detained by security would not be a good way to start a vacation. Since the children's OTC are over 3 oz. will have to pack with checked luggage.

I just got one of those pocket docs for that very purpose! Don't forget insurance information!
And it also might be time for me to get a new phone.. I already have DH listed as ICE on my mobile, but an ICE tab with health info... that's smart!
