Kissing Divers, Rain, Black Eyes and Dreams TR - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Today we let the kids sleep in a bit. Actually that's of course when they wake up at 6. I ran to Everything Pop and got breakfast and brought it back to the room. Had to have my choc. croissant. We get dressed and head to Downtown Disney. They are doing quite a bit of construction so the buses were kinda messed up.
The goal today was to shop--I was looking for the mickey mp3 player, something for the house, replace my rainforest club card I lost somewhere in the house, and just shop!!!
We went to the scrapbook store first. I was looking for a mickey mp3 player. They had one but I didn't want to pay that much for one. We looked around the gallery and took a picture for Rusty. He loves 20,000 leagues and there were some paintings. He told me they were going to hunt me down and arrest me. I really wanted to get him the 20,000 leagues poster but I guess we were 2 years too late.
The Nautalius heading for Valcan Island (I think)
On our honeymoon we signed up for the Rainforest Club card and then sometime this year I lost it. I called them and could get it replaced for 5 dollars. So I figure I'll just wait and do it at disney. To replace it now is 15.00. But I did it anyway to use my anniversary certificate for a free 10 bucks.
Hayden wanting a alligator from the rainforest cafe.
We still haven't taken the kids there to eat-Everytime we would try to take Harrison he was asleep so next time we are going to try the Dino Resturant.
Next was walking around and shopping. Nothing in particular in mind but of course I want to buy everything. I will try to be practical this trip and buy stuff for my kitchen. I ended up with 2 pot holders, a salt and pepper shaker, the nemo sea gull shirt, and my cookie jar. Otherwise we bought a ton for friends and family.
The kids found a puppy to take home--hope we have room in the van.

Thanks guys for sticking with me on my first TR. I know it's not that exciting especially since I've let too much time pass between then and now. But I'll try to get this finished.
On to the Pooh Bear store... I really wanted to get Hayden a "first visit" shirt but couldn't justify the cost so I just took a picture of it. Harrison enjoyed laying in all the pooh-- bears.
Then to my favorite store---World of Disney I could stay there all day. It's hard to manuver through there with a double stroller and not kill yourself. I was kinda sad about the lack of ladies wear--I was wanting a purse and a shirt but didn't find anything I really liked-I have the coach mickey purses that I really like but didn't see any. So I got a liscense plate for the front of the car and the kids a few things. Oh and my kitchen stuff.
Rusty of course didn't want anything. He never does and I so I get him something like a shirt. Is that a man thing or just my hubby?
Next it's lego time. Harrison loves legos and this store was a real treat. Though we didn't get anything he loved being able to make a car and run it down the ramp. I think he would have stayed there all day if he could have.
Dinosaurs!!! Harrison so wanted to see them but they were still working on the building. We did get to see a partial skeleton. It seemed to satisfy him for now.
Harrison loves dinos but wasn't so sure about this guy--he looked kinda shifty.
Workers trying to finish the resturant--poor guy on roof had to be dying of heatstroke.
Oh it was hot and there was not a lot of shade. So we decided to use our free coupon and go eat at Planet Hollywood. Funny now they take your picture before you eat like at Chef Mickey's or something though I would not compare that as the same experience. It was still early but there were a few people eating lunch. The kids were starving so I order the garlic breadsticks to appease them. Harrison was just in awe at all the stuff hanging around. Our food was good but of course way too much.. I always feel bad wasting so much food.
We had ressies at the Yak and Yeti so we decided to try to head that way but not before stopping and riding the little train. It was empty so I got to ride and we rode it at least 7 times around--who whooooooo!
The silhouette man was there where Rusty and I got ours done on our honeymoon so we decided to get the kids done. Hayden was asleep so I thought it would be a good time to get it done. The CM was kinda gruff and grumbily as to Harrison sitting still and me turning Hayden's sleepy head but he did a great job. I chalk it up to the heat. We make sure and get a frame for grandma. She has all the kids silhouettes done from the time Rusty and his brother went in the early 90's to now with the grandkids. Last time we forgot the frame and heard about it. They don't sell those anywhere else--or they are hard to find. So we caught a bus and went on our way to AK.
