As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Won the tickets during the Superbowl. We are going to Disney in Nov for 10 days. Never been to Universal or IOA so this is totally new to us. Here is my question as well....
Dh loves thrill rides. I get motion sick, so I won't be doing any coasters, wet rides or anything that would hurt my back (2 herniated discs). I've read that Universal simulator rides do offer some stationary seating. If so, that would be awesome. (always wished that Disney's Dinosaur ride could be done stationary). My back is tricky tricky so I'm a wuss when it comes to lifting, rocking or bumping. Anyway, I do understand that DH will enjoy Universal more than I will because of the thrill rides. Surely there are things there that I could enjoy? Anybody tried the stationary rides for health reasons? Easy to request these? I won't be able to do anything that DH does so I am sure hoping I can do some stationary simulator or 'Peter Pan' type rides. Do they have any?

I think you will enjoy Universal. The grounds are nice with lots to see. Several of the simulator rides have stationary seating and they are very identifiable and easy to use. You will also be able to experience Twister and Jaws with no problems. Just stay off Men in Black. My motion sick prone DH ruined his day on that ride.
You should be able to go on the Twister ride. You stand up and watch the tornado come in front of you!! Terminator is sit down ride in an auditorium. They have so much to see! Shrek-3-D is a sit down ride. Nickelodeon studios also has shows that go on during the day. You will have a blast!
Planning my next Disney adventure and was considering trying Universal as well? How does it compare? Is it a one day trip or should you allot more time?
i would say if it is just a party of 2 you should be able to do both parks in 2 days with out killing each ofther at at a nice comfortable pace. ioa lot of thrill rides and the unerversal side is mainly geared towards the movies.
Thanks for all the great info. We've never been to Universal in FL since we've been to the one in Hollywood a lot and when I go to FL, I can't tear myself away from Disney.

You should give Mythos a shot. They're open a short time during the day, but yet you can still walk right up and within about 10 minutes be sitting at a table
OMG this place was a spur of the moment choice for us when we were at IOA in November. We had done Universal the day before and ate at the rish pub, name? Which was very good, but typical pub food. Well, Mythos was phenomenal!! We each got the filet lunch and it was three separately rolled steaks for $16!!! Incredible! And the bread was to die for.
We did NOT plan a single thing for Universal/IOA, which helped lend itself to the excitement of having NO IDEA what each ride entailed. The unknown made the experience that much more exciting!
We are going back again this year as we thoroughly enjoyed ourselved...we even bought into DVC this past vacation, so that shows our love for Disney, but Universal is a definite must do!
And City Walk is great too! Shops, restaurants, clubs, bars...Universal's rival to Pleasure Island, but more compact. Most of it is 2-3 stories rather than spread out. Very, very nice!!

tickets? how did u manage to get more than 1 per family?i got confirmation that one was coming for me only....oh well
anyway, i too get motion sick (use patch for amusement parks & cruising) & have long standing cervical issues; while u (& ur dr) r the best judge of things, the only rides i skip r:
hulk & dueling dragons & if im feeling great - ill give Mummy a whirl, although i don't recommend if u have issues...as a reference @ Disney i cannot tolerate RNR (due to launch) or Dinosaur ride (yet Indy jones @ DL is fine for me& they're supposed to be the same ride platform-weird). Thru trial, error & having meds in handi enjoy, Spiderman, MIB, Simpsons, Cat in the Hat, Dudley Rip Roaring Falls, Popeye Bilge Water Falls, all mild motion imo. Way less aggressive than Space Mt
passporter book has nice review of rides, might want to check it out.
My recommendations for u
@ US, being ultra conservative
ET-peter pan ride vehicle type, Shrek & the Disasaster attraction, Jaws -believe there r stationary seats marked HC, same for Terminator & Jimmy Neutron (stationary seats down front would be a must for u, tell the TM in the waiting room) - a must do! & Twister...don't forget the shows: Horror Makeup, Animal Planet Pet, Barney, Fear Factor & BeetleJuice
@ IOA
Poseiden-walk thru, Dino interactive walk thru area, Pteradon Flyers (another suspended ride-supposed to be for the kiddies, no FOTL need to get there as soon as park opens as it's very slow loading), One Fish/Two Fish-think Dumbo & Sinbad show
good luck

Thanks for all the great info. We've never been to Universal in FL since we've been to the one in Hollywood a lot and when I go to FL, I can't tear myself away from Disney.
some of the rides have different minor elements, mostly in preshow room
holding line @ simpsons
Jurassic Park
& Terminator (liked the actress much better)
The Orlando parks have many more attractions and while comparatively easy to navigate, spacious compared to USH....not including the backstage tour of course!
imo, the talent factor of the actors (both @ DL & UH) was much higher caliber...probably something to do with Hollywood being down the road LOL

Well, my DH and I have two homes - one in TN and one in FL. I signed us both up (one at each home). I hear as long as you have ID with either name and/or address, you're okay to get your confirmation in the mail. You have all of this year to use the tix, and I'm sure that people who have signed up legit but move will still be able to redeem their free ticket as long as they have proper ID with matching names, right? So we get two because we have two addresses that they can be sent to. Make sense? I understood that you can only get one per mailing address so this is why I did it this way.

gotcha
just my understanding that they'll be checking photo IDs, DL/passports etc.
although im certainly not sure lol, once people start redeeming them we'll all find out
