As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). I am in a conundrum. I need some advice. I have had our April trip planned physically since November. Fast forward to January: I quit my job and went back to school (we planned this) DH's company is now going belly up. He is in the process of finishing up some contract work they had left, but after the end of this month now he doesn't know what's going to happen. He has applications in to several companies, he also is trying to start his own home remodel, handy man company on the side. So long story short we have a few problems, a. if he gets a "new" job will he be able to get time off? and b. can we REALLY afford for him to take a week off unpaid if he is working for himself?
We have talked about this and have decided that my mom and I are still going to go, but now enters my confusion. What is my best course of action with his airline ticket? This is something I've never encountered before. Is it best to cancel and take the credit to use at a later date or to see if I can transfer his ticket to my DSis and have a girls only trip? I actually think I can get a better rate overall right now (we are flying Southwest) but I don't even know where to start to begin to fix the problem or update or flight info. Any info, insight or suggestion would be fantastic. Sorry this turned out to be a bit longer than I thought.

Sorry to hear about the situation you're in. I agree, if he does get a new job, it's certainly usual practice over here (I don't know about the States) to tell your new employer that you had vacation plans already booked and for them to honour those.
I have read on the boards that SW is awesome with flight changes etc... So you are very lucky its not Delta...lol
I would call SW once you decide, they may credit you or possibly allow you to transfer your DH's ticket to another family member
Anyway, I understand that most companies will honor a previously planned trip, I guess you would have to crunch some numbers to see if you could swing a week without him working- Good Luck & hope that works out where he can go!!
I'm sorry to hear about your DH's company. From the sounds of it, SW has a pretty generous policy as Marnie said. getting it sorted out so you can enjoy your trip!!
Thanks for all the positivity. I think I will call Southwest Monday and see what my best option will be. I think it will end up being just a girls only trip, DH doesn't want to mess up a new job opportunity I will keep you posted on what happens. And I'm glad its not Delta either, we've had a few negative experiences with them in the past.

I called Southwest and the gal I talked to was wonderfully helpful and gave us our credit for DH's ticket and then told me how to update our fare online because of the great promo they have been running so I know have a $430 total credit to use later this year, so I'm trying to convince my mom that she wants to do the Food and Wine festival at Epcot with me this year! So I think that it will all work out, still sad DH will miss our trip but he might be able to fly in at least for the weekend so he won't miss all the fun, lol But I did have to ask my mom, who is a bit less adventurous with rides, if she would be willing to try some new things this trip and she told me she's thinking about it. So we will still have a blast! And I hopefully can convince her to try something new.
