As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We leave four weeks from today....
Destination: AKL for our 25th anniversary
Who's going:
Mark 48 <yes I am older>
Susan 51
Leah..<our oldest> 23
Her BF Marc..almost 25
Hillary <the baby> 22
Her BF Mike 22
I was lucky enough to get away to Disney pretty much yearly..sometimes 2x a yr when the girls were little. Our first trip was 1988. We stayed at the Polynesian and while there were only two parks..I was hooked. I was never quite able to impart my zeal for Disney to hubby but over the yrs he and the girls indulged me and allowed me to believe I was planning these vacations for the FAMILY...That was UNTIL the girls became teens and realized that Cancun and Cozumel fit their vaction needs a little better than the Mouse did..
Well as many know..eventually teens become HUMAN again and now Disney is back on the vacation radar...well, as long as Mom and dad are paying..
One gliche...leah..who graduated from college last yr..<not this past yr..I mean LAST yr> is on her FOURTH interview with a Boston radio station..for you new englanders,WEEI sports talk radio....and should hear today IF she gets the job..She did not let anyone know that she had a pre planned trip. This job interview process has taken well over a month so I don't think TIME was an issue on filling this job slot so we are HOPING if she gets the job..<fingers crossed> she can start AFTER the 3rd of November!

Great start...can't wait to hear more. We just returned from celebrating our 25th anniversary at Disney earlier this month (I did a report if you'd like to take a peak) and cannot think of anywhere that I would have rather celebrated that special occasion with DH.

I think I have replied to your mentioning your 25th..I would love to read all about it..I could not think of any place "I" wanted to be for my 25th...I am fairly certain that hubby could have come up with a few OTHER suggestions..but since we all ready spent two weeks on a Harly touring the southwest THIS summer..its MY turn to decide..

Well still no word on the job front for my oldest..She says she will email the girl from WEEI in the morning to see what is up. Regardless...the trip is a go for the REST of us!
Some background...I turned 50 last summer..in August and I was given the chance to plan a vacation to wherever I wanted..well within reason for hubby and I. Now I live on Cape Cod..on the beach..and 8 mos of the year I am chilled to the bone..Only get to LOOK at the beach..rarely get to walk it..never mind plank my butt in a chair and feel the sand under my toes..The season here is gone as fast as you blink..I am not giving up perfectly good beach and GOLF weather to travel in August..thanks for playing we have some lovely concellation prizes. SOOOO I take the gift and remind him the NEXT FALL..is our 25 th and I will take him up on the offer...Okay ONE hitch..I do have to spend two weeks of my summer..not feeling the gentle sea breeze and the warm sand between my toes..after spending the morning on the course but instead will be on the back of his Harley seeing the Hoover Damn, Zion National, and Bryce canyon, Mesquite nevada and Moab Utah...all lovely places mind you..but its august..its 107..I know all about the BUT its a DRY heat....107 is 107...So..I am owed..I take my revenge subtley...I change the reservations from POR to AKL....But after what I just endured...heck...no apologies made... I call the kids ...Did I mention we have three rooms.. ..Okay..even when you wear number 30...I had raccoon eyes <from the sunglasses worn 8 hrs a day on the back of the bike>..there is not a self tanner in the world that is going to help me..so while I wait for the REST of my face to FADE..and am able to be seen publicy I make the call.. They are both VERY excited. Only one of the boys has been to Disney and that was 15 yrs ago...The other...trying hard to ACT cool...is watching the travel channel to catch a glimpse of a Disney segment. This makes me VERY excited..
We are on the DDP so we have ADR's for every evening.
Boma for our first night
Primetime for the second
1900 Parkfare for the night of the MNSSHP
Victoria and Alberts for our anniversary<we are paying for that one>The kids are going to DTD..they made their own ressies..
Le cellier on our last night there.
We have not had a full family vacation since our youngest picked Disney for her senior class trip. Leah was away in college but managed to sneak away for five days. I have a girls only vacation with them every yr but NO men are allowed. And since the boyfriends have changed since that last trip..all the pics were destroyed..well almost all...so I look forward to the new memories and watching Disney thru the eyes of a newcomer. Soooo..thanks for reading. I will let you all know how it goes..I hope the next four weeks fly..oh and Leah gets her job and can still join us..take care all

I'm lucky--DH loves Disney as much as I do--if not more. But I'm glad you got your wish after the Harley touring this summer! Good for you. I will be watching your report with great interest throughout.

I am a planner, so I immediately hit up Borders for the latest Disney book....I LOVE reading anything and everything on disney and I was eager to get started. Imagine my glee when I happened upon PassPorters..it was by far THE BEST Disney Book I had ever seen...I brought that baby right to the treadmill with me and my three miles WHIZZED by..I was anxious to get home to find THIS board, and again..I was so impressed with what I saw..These boards are GREAT..the folks who post here are terriffic..and I posted that very night...I began talking with Janice.....the adorable blonde who LOVES to take pics and there has been no looking back...All the trip reports..the great pics..The descriptions of the food..Your trip report was one I DID recall reading....it was just as good the second time..Its wonderful to have a place to come visit and not feel the need to apologize for your love of Disney.. I hope we have as wonderful a time on our 25th as you did on yours...I just hope i can convey it half as well upon my return!
