As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). One question, I have the Disney cartridges, but haven't had a chance to use them yet-where do you get the right color papers for all the characters? Did you just pick colors by eye, or is there a list somewhere that tells you what colors to use?

I hope you get your Cricut back quickly. Your pages are great! You did a really nice job on them. After seeing what you've done, now I want a Cricut!
You will NEVER regret one. I bought my 1st one in Dec for $120 at WALMART and it came with George and Keystone. I just donated the machine to a multihandicapped classroom and bought for $289 the Expression. Expression cuts 1/4 inch to 23.5 inches and I highly recommend it if you can swing the extra....
PAGES ARE GORGEOUS AND INSPIRING as I am working on scarpping our summer trip.
Question: How did you get your cricut to cut Donalds and Daisy's eyes? I just have gotten the cartridge and it seems more complicated than most.
Also, everyone check your local Walmart as they move to the Martha Stewart scrap stuff (yuck) Our local Walmarts were CLERANCING Mickey font and friends cartridges for $35 each!!!!

When I worked on our characters for my school decorations, I made a color copy of the back of the cartridge and went to Hobby Lobby during a sale. I stood for a very long time figuring out colors for Eeyore, Pluto's gold etc. I bought plenty of each color and have one drawer dedicated to Disney character paper for the cricut.
The only color that gave me pause was figuring out Eeyore....he's tough but I feel pretty good about it.

Peggy - I matched the colors just by shopping through every bit of card stock I could find. I had a beautiful peachy color for the Princess faces but it was too thick to make such intricut cuts. It's hard for me to find a good skin color. The one time that I was able to shop at a Hobby Lobby, they had special Cricut packs of paper but at that time I didn't have any of the Disney cartridges so I didn't buy the paper. When you find the right colors, buy alot and save it just for those projects!
trixie lamb - I sure would love to get the Expressions machine, it's supposed to be better for thoses complicated cartridges. For the eyes I've found that it's easier to make the characters bigger than I might usually use so that the small pieces can at least be handled a little easier. Also for the Princess eyes, I used my tiny hole cutter instead of the eyes that were cut with the Cricut. I don't remember having a difficult time with Donald and Daisy as long as I have that picture to guide me.

This is where I got mine. Cardstock Headquarters - Cardstock She's gone through the Bazzill catalog and matched them to the cartridge book.

Let me say, I have only made the bigger characters from the Mickey & Friends with the expression..8" and bigger, but there is no comparison with how much better it does on that cartridge in comparison to the smaller cricut. Tonight, I'll cut some 2" and 3" Mickey and see if there is a difference on smaller characters....
I know the first time I used the old cricut with the new MM cartridge I about cried it messed up the cutting so bad....
Ok, keep in mind I do not know all the ins and outs to the cricut when it comes to depth of cut, speed and pressure....that said I can get the Mickey face, which I consider to be one of the hardest intricut shapes down to 3" on what I think is a dulling blade. If I had a sharper one I think I could go down to 2".
Also for Cricut owners:
Hobby Lobby has cricut cartridges 30% off. I dont remember in the past year ever seeing this offer. It has usually been 2 for 99, a better deal by $10 on the higher cartridges. I hope this doesnt represent a higher price trend. I have never pd more than $45 for a cartridge....
And I want to let everyone know who helped with scrap paper that I have the tabletop expandabile file and colors sorted and I bought another one to store die cuts and their negative images. Thanks friends.
