The Unexpected Welcome Us Home Summer Break Trip Report Day 4 Updated 9/13!!! - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry to hear that your meal at Y&Y wasn't that good but you did get to have a delicious Yak Attack!!! Glad you were able to take your DM to see Fantasmic.
Just catching up, Angie. Sorry your mom had to sit next to a stinky man. I've been there. Too funny about Logan being embarrassed to be Chef of the Hour. And congrats to Scott for his Dream! Glad you enjoyed your meal at Le Cellier in spite of the menu change. Ready for more!

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
Today was water park day and we had chosen to try Typhoon Lagoon this trip. Logan wasn’t happy with the choice as he wanted to go back to Blizzard Beach but we assured him that he would have fun and that we should try something new. We got over to Typhoon Lagoon around opening time and promptly got some chairs under what little shade we could find. We arranged our things and headed off to the lazy river. I don’t remember where Scott went but to my recollection, he went to do other things while Mom, Logan and I hit the slow ride. We got on our inner tubes and headed off around the park via the lazy river. Somehow, Mom and Logan got way ahead of me and I couldn’t seem to get caught up with them for the longest time. We spent a lot of time being lazy!
After some relaxation, we decided to head over to the wave pool. Honestly, I had no idea what kind of wave this was. I thought it would be like Blizzard Beach and you just use a tube to bob around in the water. Uh, no. Mom, Logan and I decided to go out and catch a wave. By this time, Scott had caught back up with us and he went way out into the water to wait for the wave. The rest of us went out about waist deep which I thought was a safe distance. Music played, people were yelling for the wave and it seemed really fun. Until, the wave actually came and I believe shock and disbelief hit me and the wave came crashing at us.
I grabbed Logan around the waist and the three of us were hit by the wave and were knocked down under the water. We all got up laughing but it really was funnier to me than fun. I didn’t know if Scott had made it out alive but in a minute he came running up like a kid talking about how awesome that was. I made a mental note not to go out that far next time and to always watch what is going to happen to you before going into the water anywhere!
After our drenching, we headed over to eat lunch. We all were in burger moods so we got cheeseburgers, fries, drinks and cookies. I don’t know that you need that much food while running around a water park but since we were on the dining plan we got what we were due.
After lunch, Mom and I headed back to the lazy river while Scott and Logan went off to do other things. After a couple of trips around, we saw them and they wanted us to get out and do the family raft ride with them. When we made it to an exit point, it was chaos. There were so many people coming in and out of the water and pushing. I went off the front of my tube and you guessed it under the water. My poor mom ran right over me as there was a jerk of a man behind her pushing her tube as hard as he could. My mom was yelling for him to stop. We made it out but I was a little peeved at the rudeness of some people. I mean, it is a lazy river there is no reason to be in a such hurry to get in and out.
That over, we headed over to get in line for the family raft. You walked up some stairs got a raft and carried it to the top. Somehow, I managed to be behind the raft while the boys were in front. So guess who ended up pushing the raft to the top? Yes, you are right me!! Another mental note made not to get behind the raft next time.
Shortly, we were in the raft and on our way down. I actually like Teamboat Springs at Blizzard Beach much better. It is a longer, faster ride. There was so much water pouring down on me that I really couldn’t see anything as we went down. It was fun and I think my mom enjoyed it. We all were laughing as we got out of the raft because we looked like drowned rats!
We went back to our chairs and relaxed for a while. Logan and Scott went back to the wave pool and then we decided to call it a day. We didn’t do as much I as would have liked but my mom has back problems so we had to make it easy for her. I think she really enjoyed her first water park experience.
Back at AKV, we decided to see if we could get into eat at Boma instead of going to Epcot for Tutto Italia. I was really looking forward to that reservation but after the whole day in the heat and water, none of us felt like going over there. Boma did have an opening so we got ready and went downstairs to eat. It was good and we left very satisfied. I just absolutely love their desserts. My mom wasn’t crazy about the food here but she didn’t complain at the time. I found out from my sister that she told her she didn’t like it that much. Oh well, everyone has their different tastes and if that is the only meal she didn’t like the whole trip that was ok.
After dinner, we just hung out on the balcony for a rest and watched the animals. Scott did some laundry and we took Logan to the pool for a while. Then it was crash time again!
UP NEXT: An unexpected lunch and the World Showcase!
Just catching up! Sounds like a fun time at TL! We're a little like Scott and really the wave pool! Glad you were able to switch your ADR to Boma. Looking forward to more
