As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So for the past few years, one of my work friends has been saying she wants to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Since her husband doesn't like to go places, I told her I would go with her. We are planning to drive to Cleveland (about a 4-5 hour trip) in September. We are going mid-week (Wednesday - Friday). What are the must-see things to do in Cleveland and what do you recommend for fun/good food/nice stay? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I think Cleveland Rocks as I moved from Buffalo to here. If you like to see sights you might want to look into a Lolly the Trolley tour Lolly the Trolley - Cleveland City Sightseeing Tours as they are usually great. They will give you an overview and then you can decide where to go from there.

My BFF lives in Sheffield Lake, outside of Cleveland and has been begging me for years to go there(he always comes here to New Orleans). I'll have to check it out sometime. As for food, Michael Symon's place "Lola" is in Cleveland. Check out an Indians game too!

I had thought we could do an Indians game (I'd love to see the stadium!) but as my luck would have it - the Indians will be in BALTIMORE (my backyard and the O's are my team!) while I am in Cleveland! LOL!

We did the RnR Hall of Fame, and we also saw the World's Largest Rubber Stamp and then we drove by to see the house from Christmas Story. I think I did a TR last summer, but as usual I did not finish it. I'll see if I can find some links.
The Winking Lizard is a good place to eat-reasonably priced too!!
Heartily agree about the Winking Lizard. Also, try Great Lakes Brewing Company.
Also, the Cleveland Zoo is my favorite in the country, and I've been to San Diego and the National Zoo. It has koalas and an amazing collection of primates, plus it is affordable!
You will love the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, too.
DH and I grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland. We go back to see the inlaws but keep saying we need to go as tourists one of these trips.
Great Lakes Brewing Co is one of our faves in Cleveland. Neat history in the building, too. Lots of good food in Little Italy, too.
While you're in the neighborhood of the R&RHOF, there's also the science museum nearby.
Love the Cleveland Zoo - the rainforest is great on any day, but since it's indoors it's especially nice if it's hot or raining. Skip the zoo on a Monday, though. County residents get in free Mondays so the crowds tend to be more preschoolers and strollers than average.
If you're into football, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is down the road in Canton and worth the trip. If you like history, James Garfield lived in Mentor (east of Cleve on the lake) and his house is open. President McKinley was from Canton.
There's also Amish Country east of Cleveland, in Geauga County.
Cleveland also has a great art museum and a top-notch symphony if you want something more cultured.
having also grown up on the west side, can't say i can add much. my votes would be definitely lolly the trolly to get a great tour of the city, the art museum, and cedar point is about an hour west...if it is still open the time you are and a roller coaster fanatic, then this is a place you must see! oh, and i love your inner harbor in baltimore! used to be lots of places like that in cleveland called the flats, but from what i hear, it has gone bust. maybe the other clevelanders here will have more info. i also agree with bitterchickey about michael symon's place, lola. as far as hotels, i would do the ritz or one of the other downtown ones. used to be a holiday inn not too far on lakeside, don't know if it is still open. let us know how much fun you have! while i am a disney fanatic, honey, i still bleed brown and orange!!!!!!!
