Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Glad you're back! Sounds like you handled things well since this happens with your DD occasionally. I hope she was feeling better after a nights rest. Sounds like you had a good day at CC!

Thumbs up Tuesday, May 20, 2008 – Nassau

“Momma, can I have some milk?” My DD was on my side of the bed trying to wake me up. I looked at the clock and it was 6:30 a.m. I picked her up and noticed she had no fever!! I was so relieved. We decided to wake up Daddy and tell him the good news. DD was hungry and ready to go. When DH got up he flipped on the TV and we noticed our clock was wrong. It wasn’t 6:30 in the morning, it was 9 a.m.! Another day of sleeping in We let Pacifer know we needed new batteries in the clock.

DH went up to Beach Blanket Buffet and brought us back some breakfast. He was excited to go exploring on his own. I knew ahead of time that I didn’t want to disembark for Nassau. I wasn’t impressed with it on our first trip. DD and I went to the pool for most of the morning. The Oceaneer Club was expecting Snow White in the afternoon so I let DD know she would be able to meet her and dance with her. DD was VERY excited. I was also excited because it was the same time that Narnia was playing in the Walt Disney Theatre. I kept my eye on DD to make sure she was feeling ok. She certainly had her appetite back and was drinking a lot. She was fine. Crazy kids and their ailments.

After a couple hours at the pool, DD and I went back to the room to clean up. DH wasn't in the room, but I could tell that DH had been there because there were a few purchased items sitting in the room including what he now calls his “working hat”. It’s a straw hat that he wears when he’s outside working on the lawn. I told him he was getting old because it looked like something my dad would wear. I kept calling him Old Man Joseph. He picked up a cute hand-made straw purse for DD with Ariel on it. For me he picked out a nice faux Kate Spade purse. Although he knew it was a fake, I was impressed that he knew who Kate Spade was. Good shopping trip dear! But where’s the rum?? DH did say that shopping around Nassau as a single man was quite different than it was when he shopped with me on our last trip. He was offered several illegal items and services. He politely denied and went on his way.

I took DD up to the Oceaneer’s Club to Do Si Do with Snow White. DH met us up there. We stayed for a little bit to make sure DD was comfortable, since it was the first time we were just going to drop her off. She clung to a CM named Abby. DD was just fine. I took off for Narnia and DH took off for a second round of shopping in Nassau.

Narnia was really good, but I got a kick out of the family in front of me. I could tell the Mom was a HUGE fan. She seemed to know all the story line inside and out and made sure her husband was up to speed. I could tell he wanted to be somewhere else. Their one daughter could care less where she was as long as she had her snacks…she looked to be about 3 years old. The older daughter, maybe 8 or 9, kept asking questions about the movie and her mom cheerfully answered every one of them. Although talking during the movie usually annoys me, that family was actually entertaining.

After Narnia I headed back to the Oceaneer’s Club to pick up DD. The pager went off right before I rounded the corner. It said something like “Woke up from nap and wants her Mommy.” Nap!? Sweet! It’s tough to get her down for a nap. She must not have felt 100%. Within seconds I was at the Club and DD was way in the back by the computers laying on a cot cuddling up to Ms. Abby. Abby kept calling DD her Little Sleeping Beauty. DD was ready to go and told me all about meeting Snow White. She was also hungry. She was catching up from only eating grapes, watermelon and pizza crust the day before.

We picked up a snack and headed back to our room. DH was there with some more loot and more stories. This time, he returned with rum!

Dinner was at Parrot Cay again, but this time it was Pirate Night! It just so happened that my sister was a pirate the Halloween before, so I borrowed her costume for the trip. DD was excited that I was dressing up with her. She wore her Snow White costume. I believe I was the only adult dressed for the 5:45 dinner seating. Other than the CMs and the guests wearing their complimentary bandanas, I believe I was the only person in the dining room dressed up. Apparently all the “fun” people dine later in the evening. Ha! Kidding. On the way from dinner to the show I saw several who dressed up. I had fun anyway. DD and I both received a lot of comments and compliments. She received a lot of “Hello Princess” or “Hello Snow White”. I think she believed people thought she really WAS a princess!

Dinner, as expected, was wonderful. I had Black Beard’s Jumbo Crab Cakes and the Treasure-of-the-Seas Grilled Shrimp and Seared Scallops - served on strings of pasta and fresh creamy tomato sauce. After Marco delivered my plate he removed the shells from the shrimp. With a flick of the wrist he had those shrimp ready to eat. It was very impressive. For dessert I had the Shiver Me Timbers White Chocolate Cheesecake. It was just the right size since I was stuffed from the entrée.

I think DH had Captain Hook's Macadamia Dusted Mahi Mahi. It’s been too long and I forgot to take a picture of it! I just remember he ate it all and enjoyed it.

DD had chicken fingers, corn on the cob and French fries…with Uros’ Mickey ketchup of course. For dessert she had the Floating Island of Tropical Fruit Treasures.

After dinner we enjoyed the Golden Mickeys and then we were off to the Pirates IN the Caribbean deck party. We all enjoyed the party very much. DD enjoyed the dancing and the characters. DD and DH showed up on the jumbo screen! I had just put down my camera and missed the shot. The fireworks were awesome as well. It seemed like the entire ship was on the top decks to view the fireworks. It was so much fun. The late night buffet was crazy! We weren’t the least bit hungry, but we had to indulge because it was so inviting. There were two HUGE chocolate pirate ships with every type of cake you could think of. They had a variety of appetizers and other buffet foods as well. We grabbed our goodies and went back to the stateroom. Pacifer had created a towel monkey that was wearing DD’s swimsuit and sunglasses. DD got a big kick out of that. We made sure to tell Pacifer the next morning that DD loved it. DD and I went to bed and DH went to see Narnia. It was 11:30 p.m. Although we crammed a lot of fun activities in that day, I think it was our favorite day so far.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks to everyone for their concern about DD. As you can see from the previous post, she was up and at 'em the next day. She can kick a bug pretty well apparently.

If you want to see pictures of our trip, try this link. Shutterfly

If you look at it in "slide show" mode, you may not be able to see the description.

Have fun.
