As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Day 180 is Monday and I am TOTALLY stressing !!! I have not been to Disney in 10 years and at that time we didn't make a reservation until we were on the propery...my how times have changed. Anywho, We are on the DDP, staying at the GF and are a family of 3 adults and 2 girls ages 6 and 8. Here is what I have...
Arrive Sat October 18 -50's Prime Time Donner
Sun Oct 19 - O'hana Dinner
Mon Oct 20- CRT breakfast - assuming the ADR Gods are with me
Tues Oct 21 - Crystal Palace - Dinner and MNSSHP
Wed Oct 22 - 1900 Park Faire Dinner
Thurs Oct 23 - Calif Grill - Dinner
Friday Oct 24 - Coral Reef - Dinner
Now here is the part that has me totally overwhelmed...what times should I plan on so that we can see Fantasmic and Wishes. Should I change some dinners to lunches??? As I mentioned before I am new to this and at this point in the planning cannot figure out which days I should go to which parks. With the exception of 50's Prime Time and Coral Reef everything is on the Monorail so relatively easy to get to from GF. I am thinking that Wed should be an easy day because of the late night Tues at MNSSHP. Maybe we should do a late lunch and then head over for Fantasmic???? When should I plan for Wishes?????

Crystal Palace I would plan a 5ish Dinner so that you can hit the party right after your done eating
I always like breakfast at CRT to be as early as possible so i can finish eating and hit the park right close to opening.
Dinners I tend to like to eat either really early (b/w 4-5) or really late (8-9) so that we are either eating before most do and can tour while everyone else eats or eat late so we can tour while people are eating and then eat and skip the fireworks and parades (since we go often)
But if you stick to early times that would allow you to hit the fireworks and parades etc without worry.
You have great choices! Keep in mind that CRT and Cali Grill are both 2 Credits Per person on the Dining Plan so without knowing how many nights your actually staying just make sure you have enough credits for that.
Also you may be asked to give a CC to guarantee the meal at CRT and possibly California Grill (not sure if that requires it or not)
HTH

We are leaving early on the 25th. Yes, I realize that CRT and Calif.Grill are both 2 credits. I figured the most cost effective way to deal with that would be to pay OOP for Prime Time and Crystal Palace and use the 2 credits each for the CRT and CG - makes sense, no? Dinner no later than 5 sounds good - I am especially stressing about Fantasmic because everything that I have read says that people get seating almost 2 hours before it starts We will probably do breakfast in the room - we are planning on doing a Garden Grocer order - and then an early lunch and early dinner - sound OK????

I would try for the Crystal Palace for about 5.00 as well, so you're done in plenty of time for the party. I would plan dinner before Wishes at least two hours, beforehand. That will give you time to eat (usually we find most meals take just over an hour) and then get a spot for Wishes. With Fantasmic, I would allow a little more time than that, as you need to find a seat for the show.
Your plans look terrific. I have a 4 and a 5 yr old. We eat early dinners - I try to get them as close to 5pm as possible. That's what works for our family with the young ones. I was told that for fanstasmic - which we're trying this dec for the 1st time - we should aim for a late lunch to get seated on time. I'm sure if you tell the CM when booking that you want the fantasmic package, he/she will help you with a good time. I think paying OOP for the 2 you mentioned will work out just fine.
Thank you soooo much for your input everyone - I REALLY appreciate it
So I am thinking to do Wishes on Sunday evening after an early dinner at O'Hana or Wednesday after 1900 Park Faire. I would like to see it on Sunday because due to MNSSHP it is only offered on Sun, Mon, and Wed. I don't want to leave it to Wed and then have something unexpected come up and miss it. On Monday, after CRT, (fingers crossed) spend the morning at MK then head back to the hotel for some rest and a late lunch. Hopeully this will give us enough time to head over to DS for Fantasmic.
Since it looks like you'll be in the MK area for several evenings, you might want to catch Wishes from the park one night, and then from a restaurant another night.
When we made our ADR for Ohana, the cast member told me which time I should make it for so I could watch Wishes from the restaurant. They actually pipe the music into the restaurant as it's going on and allow all guests to gather near the windows if their tables are not in view of them. I'm not positive, but I believe the California Grill does the same thing.
The only downside to this is that you'd be having a late dinner. Our Ohana ADR is at 9:30, so we'll definitely be having a snack that afternoon to hold us over. We're going in the summer, though, so it may not be so late when you go. If your girls can handle waiting for a late dinner, it might be a cool experience.
