As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We just got a save the date email for a wedding on August 16 in Cape Cod. Any Codder's out there than can give me some suggestions for a long weekend? We plan on staying with family at the start and end of the weekend, and in Sandwich for the actual wedding. I haven't been there since I was pregnant with Grace, so I'm out of touch with the area. The girls want to eat Lobster, picnic table style and partake of other NE things.

I use to spend my summers in Chatham. It is a beautiful town. Not sure exactly what your plans are, but Chatham still has the "old fashioned" Band Concert every Friday night all summer. Go early, cause everyone goes! The Chatham Squire is a great place for a quick lunch or dinner. If you go to the "bar side", you'll get to hang out with the local fisherman (they have great tales!) and the tourists. Light House Beach in Chatham is a real tourist spot (it's actually a very nice beach) because that is where the ocean went over the barrier many years ago during a major Nor'Easter. It was actually kind of sad, because many homeowners lost their homes into the sea from the massive erosion once the ocean broke through. Many lovely inns to stay at in Chatham. The Main Street is long, and a lovely walk from one end to the other.
Nauset Beach is in Orleans and it is "the beach" to hang out at. Beware, it gets very crowded and fills to capacity quickly especially on the weekends. They truely have the best onion rings at the snack bar there.
If you are into baseball, the Cape Cod Summer league games are tones of fun. I know that Chatham and Orleans both have teams as well as many other towns.
I'm sure others have suggestions, but please ask if you have any other questions. Have fun planning this trip.
The Lobster Claw restaurant in Orleans is great for lobster "in the rough". You get to choose your victim from a big tank and hand it to the waitress, my DD's got a kick out of that. Try to visit the Sandwich Glass Museum and gift shop... they make the most beautiful handmade glass. Have fun and get on the road EARLY! The Cape is crazy busy in the summer and road travel is a major challenge!

Lucky you Joan It's been years since we've been down there! Be prepared for crowds We usually stayed in South Yarmouth (Red Jacket) but ventured down to Chatham a few times
My brother got married at the Cape in 2000. I don't remember much about the area, but it was beautiful. They got married outside near the water. I can't even remember the name of the hotel. Not much help am I? I would start making plans if you are staying in the area. We had to book rooms almost a year in advance for Columbus Day weekend.
Whale Watching!!! We visit the cape every summer and love to go whale watching - we have found that it is worth the drive to Provincetown and go with the Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch (we really like them - and if you google them you will find their website). The drive into P-town is beautiful with the dunes! You can even do a dune buggy tour in Ptown - the beaches are also great - we second the Nauset beach! And the Chatham beach!
Have fun!

Our family vacationed in Yarmouth (Bass River) every year when I was a kid. The crowds/traffic are a pain and you are going at the busiest time of year. Drive down on a Thursday and leave on Monday if you can.
My favorite part of the Cape is the Cape Cod National Seashore areas, especially Marconi Station and the trails surrounding it. (They are quite a drive from Sandwich, though.)
Have a great time!

Reason: spelling
I agree with PoohMaine. The National Seashore is a must do. One of my two favorite places. My kids loved to go booggie boarding or body surfing at Coast Guard Beach.
Here is a link to the park:
Arnold's Restaruant is also on that leg of Rte 6 and an awesome place to get sea food-especially the nice, healthy fried versions. Eastham Seafood is also good.
We always stayed at Ocean's Edge in Brewster when we didn't rent a house. I'm not sure you'll be able to do a rental for less than a week during the high season. Can you stretch your vacation to a week? I always found that rentals at the cape, which were not directly on the beach, were very reasonable.
Sandwich is at the beginning of the Cape. If your kids are history buffs, you also must got to Plimouth Plantation, just a half hour or so from Sandwich. Sanwich, and most of 6-A, has many antique shops and is a pretty drive.
Pick up a lunch from the Box Lunch. Excellent "rollwiches" and a great variety to suit your most fussy eater to the more adventure some. Voted Cape Cod's Best Lunch Concept!
If you want a very nice romantic dinner, Chillingworth's in Brewster is wonderful. And you can pick up desserts to go from the bakery.
Also contact the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce. They have tons of information and many of the town beaches do not require a parking permit after 3:00 p.m., which works well if you have fair skinned children, who will burn up between noon and 2 anyway.
Sorry this is so long. For many years we took a week at the Cape and it is a very special place to me and my family. I'm just not sure you're staying long enough.
We've firmed up a few plans now that I know dates and places from the groom. We are staying at the Sandwich Lodge for two nights so we can day trip a little while we are there.
We are also staying with my cousin Betsy and her family in Marion for a few nights.
Growing up, we spent a few years going to Wellfleet with my Aunt Betty, cousin Betsy and her brothers and sisters. It's how I learned what a frappe was!
