Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

We only had 46 in our graduating class, so we knew each other fairly well (some more than others of course). As a result, we've had a reunion every 5 years (with the exception of 1995 because of a poor response). We did have our 35th in 2000.

We've always had a great time because we kept it casual. Its usually outside with games, a keg and lots of small talk. A couple of times we've had dancing after, but the same night so we were all still in shorts.

We lost 4 guys from the class and all at a young age. 2 were in their early thirties and 2 in their early forties.

When I look at our group photo from 2000, we all look the same, but oh what 35 years can do to a body!

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

Good question. I've been to two of the three we've had so far:
5 year: There were a few changes, mostly in the physical sense of how people looked. As far as grouping, everyone pretty much fell into the same cliques.

10 year: Could not attend but friends said it was much better than the 5 year and very relaxed.

20 year: Had a great time. They opted for a DJ and we danced to all the songs from the 70s...even had a Soul Train line. Most of the attendees realized we were all 38 years old at the time and got over themselves. Out of the more than 200 that attended, only a couple still acted as though they were above it all. It was their loss. If memory serves, we had lost 8 fellow students at that time.

25 year: This year and I'm assisting with preparations. Am looking forward to it and have high expectations.

For those still considering whether or not to go back, consider this. I was a total egghead in high school, actually had someone come up to my DH at the 5 year reunion and ask him if he was an "egghead" too. That was then. The more years that pass by, the older and more mature MOST of us get and all of that stuff that happened back then is left behind.

Now you just remember funny stories about a class or teacher you shared, what your children are doing now, or whether life has been good to you over the years. As I told one of my friends who wasn't sure she wanted to face the memories of high school again, for some of us it can be a cleansing and rewarding experience. JMHO.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

I went to my 10 year reunion and had a boring time. I also went to a large HS (graduated 750) and the people I was friendly with I either still kept in touch with or they didn't attend. I had just had my older DD and was still adjusting to life as a stay at home mom; I got a lot of comments about "oh, so you're not doing anything?" from my former advanced math & science classmates.

My 20 year reunion is this coming November. I don't think I'll attend. It's an awful lot of money to see a bunch of people I didn't hang out with 20 years ago.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

Went to my 15th. Same boring people all self-important. I hated it. I will never go back! The 35th is in 2 yrs. I think I will send the invite back marked Return to Sender, Address Unknown.
Have gone with DH several times to his. His last was was 35th this past May. Had a great time. Same town, same school, different class of people.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

We had a 5 year reunion -very casual picnic at the lake - that was lots of fun! Not many changes at that time as most were fresh out of college.

We had a 10 year reunion - traditional two day affair - it was especially fun at the family picnic to see everyone's kids!

We had our last reunion at 20 years - still well attended - the most fun was seeing how the women looked great but the men were looking a little gray and paunchy!

25 came and went without a reunion, maybe at 30...

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

We went to DH reunion (which he graduated the same year as you Steve!) and he said that he would never go to one again. It was too expensive for what they did and really wasnt worth it to him. I was planning to go to mine, but my car was broken into and that money went towards the car getting fixed than to spend it for that. To which I hear that it was a joke too, one girl showed up so drunk that the ambulance had to come cuz she passed out. Nice huh?

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

We went to DW's 10th anniversary. It was awful. All they did was drink beer. The ones who were there were the ones who saw each other all the time anyway. We spent most of our time talking with one other couple.
I have never been to one of my class reunions. I don't even know if they have them. They wouldn't know where to find me to let me know. My parents left the town shortly after I graduated and we haven't been back since except for some of my friends wedding.

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

Yep, went to my 10th and went to my 20th...(Yes, 20th!!) There were HUGE differences in both reunions.

It seemed like at the 10th year reunion, everyone was still fairly immature, still trying to figure things out. (And I include myself in that!) But it just seemed like alot of my classmates were more out to impress at that time than anything else. At least some of them.

At the 20th, it was a ton better. Alot more maturity and people seemed more comfortable with themselves and others. Although I didn't participate in everything of the three day festivities, I still had a good time.

We've lost about 10 of our classmates due to car accidents and cancer. Very sad. Too young to die!!

Great question!

Re: Steve\'s Silly Question of the Day 8/1/02

I was supposed to have my 5 year reunion this year, but the entire council for my class was unavailable to organize and attend it so it's been put off til the 10 year mark.

So, Steve, what do you want for your birthday? I could Fed-ex those donuts out to you...
