As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi All,
My fiancee and I are planning a return trip to the world in January of 2003. We got engaged on a swing on the beach by Cresent Lake in front of the Yach & Beach club resorts on 12-31-98. It has been so long since we've been there I was wondering if anyone could give me any reccomendations for things to do. I have read all the books but I enjoy hearing about peoples 'personal favorites!

Wow! Best wishes to you both! And welcome to Passporter! Are you looking for tips specifically about the parks, resorts, restaurants? You will get a wealth of knowledge here, that is for sure!
I can tell you that I spent my honeymoon at the Grand Floridian Beach Resort and I'd highly recommend that resort as a honeymoon destination. Splurge on yourselved and make a reservation at Victoria and Albert's. You won't regret it!
Thanks for the reccomendation! I have heard that this place is really nice. I am glad you had a fun honeymoon. I am getting excited, I can hardly stand the wait!
We also went to WDW for our honeymoon and stayed at the Polynesian, which I highly recommend. It is beautiful and very romantic. I recommend the Tahiti long house with a lagoon view because it's more secluded. If you can afford the concierge rooms, do it, because the concierge will go the extra mile to make your honeymoon even more special. At night, it is simply magical with the view of the fireworks over the MK. You also have the beach bar and the water parade at night. We go back to the Polynesian every so many years, in fact, this will be our third trip to the Polynesian this June.
Welcome to the boards tif80! Congrats on your upcoming nuputials! DH and I stayed at WL for our honeymoon. Loved it. What kinds of things do you and your fiance like? beachy, wilderness, etc? Whatever you two choose will be wonderful! Definately take time to enjoy some of the finer restuarants at WDW. Keep us informed as to your plans!
Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. Everyone here is soooo helpful and friendly I would have to say that my fiancee and I are just 2 kids parading around in grown up suits! We will be fresh out of college when we get married so the budget will be tight but we definatly have heard great things about the Disney restaurants. Thanks for the tips and suggestions. Keep 'em coming!
Welcome to the PassPorter Boards tif80!
We didn't honeymoon down at WDW but did celebrate our 25th anniversary down there. Do you have a resort booket yet or one in mind? January is a great time to visit WDW. Last year when we went, the weather was fantastic! Stayed in the high 70's to mid 80's. I will be going down again this January but not with DH but with my best friend. Our hubby's are not what you would call "true" Disney fans (at least mine will go down with me )
Have you done any actual planning yet? Disney is a wonderful place for couples to spend time together.
Congratulations and welcome! We stayed at CBR in May '95 for our honeymoon. Like you, I was fresh out of college and a budget was critical. Staying at CBR certainly helped. We also went 5 months after we got married so that we could be sure to have it all paid for before we left. In fact, I think the last day we were there we still had over $300 to come home with! If you are going to be there for at least a week, I would encourage you to look into an Annual Pass. Only one of you would have to get one, but, it can mean GREAT deals on hotels and well worth the savings! Ask any questions you have. The folks here are terrific!
Hello, tif80 -- Welcome to the PassPorter boards, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I agree that you should look into getting Annual Passes. They're more expensive, but the discounts you get can make up the difference quickly. There should be great AP discounts on hotels for that time of year.
If budget is an issue and you decide to stay at a moderate resort, I don't think you'd be disappointed at Port Orleans (I personally prefer French Quarter, but also love Riverside) or Caribbean Beach. I haven't stayed at Coronado yet, so I can't comment on that one ... but I've heard really great things about it, too!
I'd also suggest a character meal -- not necessarily a romantic honeymoon-type thing, but definitely appropriate for two kids in grown-up suits! My favorites are Cinderella's Castle (breakfast) and Chef Mickey's (dinner).
Also, don't forget the nighttime parades and shows, if any are available during your trip! They always seem to add a little extra magic.
Hello Again,
The fiance took your suggestions and hooked us up with annual passes. As of now we are planning on staying around 10 days and the annual pass is definately worth getting. We are currently looking into staying at the All Star Movies but depending on discounts budget concerns etc we may upgrade in the future. We stayed at CBR our first trip and it was beautiful! We just found out his parents are taking the family (everyone but us ) to the world in August. BOO BOO BOO They found a phenomenal $20 a night rate at the Downtown Disney Marriott. As we make more plans I will keep you all updated
Hi tif! We honeymooned in Disney last October, and had an incredible time! (So much fun in fact that we ended up buying into the Disney Vacation Club, but that's a whole 'nother story).
I wanted to tell you that we stayed in All-Star movies like you are planning to and loved it. We're just a couple of overgrown kids too, and we have a dalmatian, so we had to stay in the Dalmatians section of course! The hotel itself wasn't as romantic as staying at one of the deluxe resorts, but we used the money we saved on the hotel to do all kinds of other fun stuff. We ate out every night, and our favorite restaurants were the Yachtsman Steakhouse, Le Cellier, and the Brown Derby. We saw Cirque de Soleil, rented Water Mice, went miniature golfing, and even tried parasailing (which I loved and DH hated )
If you can talk your finace into it, you have to wear the bride and groom Mickey ears! We got a ton of extra attention every time we had them on.
Wherever you end up staying you are going to have SO much fun!! We even danced in the streets at Epcot during Off Kilter and The Bitish Invasion- everybody just shakes their heads at the crazy honeymoon couple
Hey there! Well, if things are going to be a little tight to budgetary contraints, I'd recommend the Port Orleans Riverside Magnolia Bend section! It's like a Moderate disguised as a Deluxe (or vice versa!). The rooms in the mansion section are very nicely appointed (ala Grand Floridian, just not as plush - but VERY nice) - cherry furniture, floral patterns, etc. You'll get the feel while in your room that you are in more of a Deluxe resort all while spending your money on a moderate - which really do have some great pluses - the food courts, more pools (quiet pools!) and lower cost for the room! That would be my recommendation. While I haven't stayed at the All Stars, they seem to be more family oriented and louder resorts (both in sight and sound) - super for kids - so I'd check into the Magnolia Bend area of PO and then maybe like TINKN said, extend your stay or splurge on some special meals - Victoria and Albert's, Aritst Point, Jiko, California Grill are all good places for honeymooners!

ENJOY!!!
If you've got the annual pass, and no time restrictions as far as work goes and your budget allows, I would say extend your visit rather than upgrading to a more expensive resort. I would take the extra time over a few extra immenities anyday. We've stayed at ASMU and POFQ. Things that a moderate has that a budget does not are boat and bike rental. We could ride a bike at home and never rented the boat at the resort. We did rent them downtown which anyone could do. The moderates also have a sit-down restaurant, but we only ate there once so no big deal to not have it at the values. The food courts are pretty comparable. The pools at moderates do have a slide which is somewhat tame for an adult, so no biggie there. Just MHO.
