As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I bought the boys a Wii Zapper. Listed as a Wii Zapper, picture posted of a Wii Zapper. Get it in the mail yesterday, it's a knock off, Wii "Compatible" Gun Hazard game. Different style than the Zapper, so it doesn't even look like the picture in the auction. Crappy part is I had to pay the $3 shipping plus required $3 insurance to get it here and it's only a $20 item (well, the Zapper is. This piece of junk retails for $9.99). If I have to pay to send it back, that's $9 I'm out, and I'll still have to go to WalMart and pay $20 for the real zapper. Jerks.

eBay just isn't what it used to be. I bought a "new, in original package" battery for my cell phone. Got it and it was clearly a used battery and it wouldn't even charge! Now the guy is mad because I have him negative feedback. I have emailed 2 sellers in the last week and haven't gotten any response from them as to when my items would be shipped. Just isn't like it used to be.

Argh. I feel your pain. A few years ago, I bought a Christian Dior purse from a seller on Ebay. They were in the UK, had great feedback, and the item listed on the site was said to be an authentic CD bag, with serial number, tags, etc. etc.
I paid a lot of $$$ for this purse (still cheaper than retail price though! ), and when it arrived, I could tell it was a fake. Don't get me wrong - it had all the bells and whistles promised in all the right places, and to most people, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference, but I could tell, and that was enough for me. The tags that they'd attached to it were fake, and the serial number, amazingly enough, wouldn't work when I tried to register it on the Dior website.
When I left negative feedback and reported the seller, they tried to turn it around on me, saying that to the best of their knowledge the purse was authentic, therefore it wasn't their fault. I ended up just dropping the complaint, because it wasn't worth the time and hassle, and, like I said, to most anyone, it looked like a normal Dior bag. It was super annoying though, and several other experiences like that (although none as costly), have kind of turned me off of Ebay until they can get it together with their fraud problems.
I would report them to Ebay.. first off for keyword spamming, second for not sending the correct item... At the least I would contact the buyer & ask for a partial refund if you want to keep the item.. If not.. return it & if you paid with pay pakl all you would be out is your return shipping ...
best of luck.. I'm not usually a buyer but have gotten some great deals this holiday season & knock wood all have been excellent ( I say that with one big item still in transit)
I'd contact the seller and tell them the item you received is not the item pictured in the auction. Maybe they will make it right.
I've ordered a few things for Christmas this year, and I think the seller is really boosting the shipping rate. I ordered DDR x box game with 2 dance mats, and the shipping was $40.00! When it arrives I'm going to check on the weight and see what it really would be to ship, and then I may let EBay know about it. I know what the seller is doing, they offered the item much cheaper but added to the shipping rate. I wouldn't have bought it except that I can't find it anywhere else!

I did contact the buyer thru Paypal. They told me they were sorry I was unhappy, but they do not see the difference between the 2 items. Just the fact that they are calling them 2 items shows there's a difference! They are a company with 78000+ feedback, so they don't really care about 1 customer (or the other 86 who have left neg. feedback in the last 30 days).

I feel your pain. I bought a cute dress for DD to wear for pics with Santa on Oct. 28th and I still don't have it! According to the seller, I paid with an E-check (which I have never done since being on ebay for 4 years) and she said that per Ebay she had to wait until the E-check cleared. Well she said that she mailed the item to me on Nov. 13th but still no dress.
Finally after complaining to Paypal....she e-mailed me yesterday and said the package came back to her with my correct address on it??????? Since she said I couldn't get a refund until she got her dress back then fine...you have your dress....give me my $$$$$!
Ugh it's been worse lately for some reason. Lowering the starting price but padding the shipping price just to make up the difference.
I try not to deal with the "company with 78000+ feedbacks" , like you said your just one person compared to the thousands of purchase they recieve. They would rather suck it up and take the negative feedback than help you out.
I agree though that the shipping is getting to be seriously a problem. I both sell and buy on ebay so I take this into considereation when I list. I HATE it when you are obviously overpaying for shipping to make up the starting price difference. I mean come on, 6.95 shipping for a hard to find dvd, and they may even ship it media mail! Oh well.

I've had the same dely about the e-check, for the first time last month (I've been using ebay since 1998). Is e-check something new? I've been using paypal for years and have never had such delays. What is different now?
You guys, I am so sorry about all your bad experiences!! I keep reading horror stories on eBay's "Sellers Central" forum, and I just keep thinking how lucky I've been. One temporary problem with a buyer last week ... a couple ridiculously lame feedback comments (positive feedback, with "somewhat satisfied" as the comment, LOL) ... but nothing major or fraudulent!! Part of me thinks I should quit while I'm ahead.
Tina, I'm sorry to hear they're being stoopid about it. Maybe Ann's suggestion of reporting them for keyword spamming is your next best move.
I just decided to keep the darn thing. I am sure it will work fine, but that is so not the point. I didn't feel like being out $ b/c they are rude and purposely send the wrong item. Reporting them for keyword spamming isn't going to work b/c they don't say anywhere in the auction that is ISN'T a Wii Zapper (You don't know you aren't getting that until it comes in the mail). Ah, well. There are people who are leaving them positive feedback with things like 'Not what was pictured, but I guess it'll work' Whatever...

I done very little on E-bay - but I have heard horror stories about if as a buyer you leave negative feedback on a seller (even for legitimate reasons) you will often receive nastier negative feedback from the seller (usually for non-legitimate reasons). This is not saying that all sellers are out to be nasty, but it does happen. I have been very lucky in the few transactions as a buyer and as a seller and I will really pick and choose my times for using E-bay these days due to just the stories listed here and elsewhere.
Good luck and Merry Merry!!

You all need to report these people to eBay and also to PP if you used it for payment. These types of sellers make it bad for sellers like us. They are clearly misrepresenting what they are selling and should be REMOVED as sellers.
