Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Baggalini bag for us big girls?

I was going to ask for the Baggalini messenger sling bag (that's the one everybody raves about, right?) for Christmas, but I wanted to know how it would work on a plus size figure. Anybody had any experience with this? Thanks!

I used a "Daddy Bag" when my kids were Diaper Bag-able. It was a MANLY version of a diaper bag - just a big roomy old sling bag. It was fine for me. I am Plus (Pooh) sized and quite "ample" upstairs to boot. Maybe because this bag was made for dads, the cut was larger - I don't know. But the sling didn't bother me.

I'm sorry I can't tell you a thing... I don't carry a bag at all. If it can't go in my pockets, or under the stroller... it just doesn't go!

i would go to a store where they will let you test something out...grab something heavy, put it in the bag, and then put it over your body....with a clerk there of course...tell em why if you arent shy (i would, i would have more trouble coming up with a lie)

I have a sling bag that is now discontinued by Eagle Creek, but I found it very comfortable once I lengthened the strap a little. It does sit between my breasts and doesn't always *look* the most attractive, but it never hurt.

What I find to be uncomfortable with bags and lanyards is how they rub against the skin of my neck. I just sewed on a little polar fleece as padding and that resolved it.

Good luck finding something and getting a chance to try it before you buy it.

I have thsi bag and am, uh, pooh sized. I actually find the bag comfortable enough -- but I would like to prewarn you it is nto a "large" bag. It will not hold as much as a regular backpack. I originally ordered it for our WDW trip but will not be using it in the park. I do use it on family trips where we have easier access to the hotel or home -- a few diapers, wipes, inhalers, my camera, my sons silky, paci, my wallet, a snack, a sippy cup, and the bag is pretty much full. It is NOT big enough to hold a standarad size folder. In the parks we usually have all the above items, plus our ponchos, a change of clothes for the youngest, sweaters, more than one snack.....

If you want to use a bag instead of a purse or reg diaper bag this bag is GREAT. If you are thinking of using it instead of a reg backpack it may not suit your needs. Also, remember if you have it on your back with your wallet in it, you may want to use a suitcase lock on the section your wallet is in.

I had that bag my last trip! I loved it! Being a 17 y/o girl, I only wore it on my shoulder, and sometimes across my chest. I'm plus-sized myself, and I wear a C-cup. I didn't find it to be uncomfortable in any places, at all. It was a great bag.

I'm a DD kind of gal ... and stocky, too. I bought one and it did NOT work. It rode up over my boobs to my neck. Just miserable. We wound up going to REI and finding a bag we could test walk around the store.

Might I suggest if you look for a bag that you can just toss over your neck, that it NOT be "side specific". I bought a sling bag for a trip to Europe three years ago, and after about a week of wearing it around, found that it gave me extreme neck and shoulder pain, and due to the side specific nature of the bag I couldn't wear it over the other shoulder.

I now use a Eddie Bauer bag, I BELIEVE is their "Guide Bag" which I've nicknamed my "Man-purse". it is a small-ish sized bag that is just big enough to carry my daily essentials, yet not so big that it allows me to carry a ton of stuff I won't need. The best part is that because it's just a strap, I can throw it over either shoulder, giving both sides a breather. Also, I'm a big, tall guy, and have had no fit problems whatsoever.

Hope that helps,

Tim

Hi gals and guys,

i am over the toddler stage and don't have to tote tons of stuff. so tons of empathy for the parents who have that challenge and here's what i suggest for 5 yrs plus. Last trip I used a simple Nike mesh 'napsack style' bag. it was super lightweight and inside i just had our passports bundled together with an elastic band and our key to the world cards, plus a small digital camera. if we wanted to carry water it would stretch enough to hold five bottles. what i loved about is that i could turn it around to front of body for rides, and it's super lightweight.

For our upcoming trip i purchased passporter pouches for all of us, including the kids (teenagers). It remains to be seen if they'll use them; in the past they have preferred pants pockets for their cards (which i would never go for), but based on our last trip i love the idea of lightweight organized portability.

For the plane i chose a canvas messenger style bag, this one made by FILA. there were so many gorgeous leather ones to choose from but i opted for lightweight canvas and the sizing worked great. we could include 8 1/2 x 11 sized letters for customs (parental letters of consent to travel for our blended family). All of our passports fit in one outside pocket. The other outside pocket held wallet and cash. the digital camera fit inside.
I am amply sized 1x with over DD chest (okay e, f, g, whatever!) and this worked great with no stress or pain.
I have been ogling the leather travel bags but for our upcoming trip in March I am going to use my same canvas bag cause it was so functional and not horrible.

It sounds like you may have a similar physique to me, so i would suggest you try the bag before you buy. Sorry, i know that sucks, but you don't want to end up with something that makes you uncomfortable, no matter how organized and gorgeous.
