As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I'm making my first Thanksgiving dinner for my family ever this year. I'll be cooking today and tomorrow. DJ is making the desserts. He'll be decorating a pre-baked pumpkin pie and making a chocolate chocolate chip cheesecake cookie pie on his own.
So, what's on your menu?
Here's ours:
Bacon-wrapped Turkey Roast (boneless Butterball roast) with roasted delicata squash, brussel sprouts, and baby carrots (also w/ bacon).
Garlic Smashed Potatoes (w/ crispy-fried bacon pieces)
Mac & Cheese Casserole (w/ ham and peas)
Mushroom Stuffin Muffins (also w/ bacon)
Gravy
Canned Cran. Jelly - just like mom used to open.
Pumpkin Pie
Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cheesecake Cookie Pie
I hope I haven't bitten off more than I can chew. DJ's making his pie today and I'm making the casserole and the stuffing today. That's leaves the roast and the taters for tomorrow and everything else is pre-made. Yes, I am leaving the gravy to the experts and cracking open the jars all by myself.
This is what I am making on Friday:
Roast Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing
Veggies - Probably Peas and Carrots
Gravy
Potato Rolls
Pie from Bishop's Orchard
For Thursday, I'm making a mashed potato casserole, cranberry-apple stuffing, mac & cheese casserole and corn muffins. We go to my Aunt's for Thanksgiving but I feel like I bring it all with me! I'm also in charge of slicing the turkey and ham and making the gravy.
We then have a second Thanksgiving on Sunday (my mom, a nurse, has to work Thanksgiving day so we celebrate a second time!) On Sunday I'll be doing the whole works -
Rosemary - sage rubbed Turkey... 23+ pounds! Roasted onions, garlic and carrots are cooked with him
mashed potatoes (using the roasted garlic from the turkey)
regular stuffing (in the turkey and extra cooked in muffin tins)
cranberry-apple stuffing (because you can never have too much stuffing!)
cream gravy (with a hint of marsala)
shallot and lemon green beans with julienne carrots
corn bread and potato rolls
pumpkin pie with real whipped cream
Quote:
Canned Cran. Jelly - just like mom used to open.
yep! We'll have that too!
and chicken nuggets for my non-turkey eating son and niece!

Some of what we're having is unknown because other family members bring items, but here's what I'm sure of:
grilled turkey
mashed potatoes--good old-fashioned butter and milk only!
stuffing
gravy--combination of home-made and from a jar because the turkey doesn't make enough to serve on its own
sweet potatoes (from a sister)
corn
fruit salad of some kind (sister-in-law)
sunshine salad (Jell-o, grated carrots, crushed pineapple) if another sister-in-law can figure it out
home-made rolls
cranberry sauce
pickles, maybe (Mom always thinks we need pickles!)
Mom's wonderful home-made pumpkin pie
Mom's wonderful home-made raspberry pie (meaning I have to choose between them!) for my MIL who doesn't like pumpkin pie
Lots of love and good fellowship with our families!
Bacon maple roasted turkey
Mashed potatoes
Sweet Potatoe Cassarole
Corn
Green Bean Cassarole
Corn bread Drssing
Egg Bread with Mushroom Stuffing
Fressh Bread
Apple Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Ice Cream
Here's what we're having (and who's making/bringing it)
Turkey (grandma)
Dressing (what y'all up north call 'stuffing' - grandma, too)
Green Beans (grandma)
Gravy (grandma)
Stewed squash 'n Onions (Mama)
Chessy Corn and Pimento Casserole (sister Mary Clayton - it's one of the two things she knows how to make, so we always have it at family gatherings)
Congealed Salad made with whatever jello is the light pink color, celery, pecans and pineapple (Mama)
Butter beans and corn (Mama)
Deviled Eggs (Mama)
Sweet Potato Casserole (Mama)
Cranberry Salad (Mama's BFF Patsy makes it for us)
Cranberry Sauce (from the can, and Mama opens it )
Persimmon Puddin (Mama's BFF Patsy makes it for us)
Bread (sister Donna do you see a pattern re: what the siblings are trusted with?)
Pecan pies (grandma)
I think I am forgetting something important. Oh, do you notice the lack of MY name from the list? That's 'cause I live with my parents, so any contributing I try to do as far as food just gets in my mom's way in the kitchen. Therefore, I have to clean. I'd rather get Donna's end of that lollipop and bring bread!
Usually my aunt makes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes with marshmallows and pecans, fruit salad, rolls, green bean casserole and stuffed mushrooms.
And always something sinful for dessert.

We are hanging out here and I am making a very traditional dinner- turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies ( parsnips, beets, carrots, turnips) apple/cranberry pie and a Sara Lee pumpkin pie ( since I am the only one who likes it) and the same home opened cranberry sauce thats so poular here! My son is making some chocolate something with berry sauce.
Turkey, roasted after being brined in a maple syrup/fresh thyme brine. MMMM
Smashed potatoes
Sausage stuffing - 1/2 cooked in the bird, 1/2 out
Homemade Gravy
Cranberry Sauce - the kind in the can!
Squash
Peas
Green Bean Casserole
Big old Salad with blue cheese and almonds
Rolls
Homemade Pumpkin Bread
St. Martin "Hash" - also known as traditional homemade Chex mix with a few added ingredients
Dessert was apple pie and pumpkin pie, with either french vanilla ice cream or whipped cream - both made at their local bakery.
I've gotta cook up the 22 pounder that John got free from work tomorrow - I'll be making
turkey
mashed taters
stuffing - no sausage in mine - Jennie hates the sausage!
Green bean casserole
Carrots
Gravy from a jar (unless I get ambitious)
Homemade corn bread - usually I make pumpkin (see Thursday) but we had chili today
Dessert will be homemade pumpkin pie and maybe an apple if I have time.
