As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Since my plans were recently changed and I don't have much time to re-plan, I'm turning to you for your vast array of knowledge. I need to know about the food at CBR, secret activities, best room to stay in with a toddler and two preschoolers, can you see fireworks from the resort, shortcuts, just about any helpful hint or tip you can give me.
We loved CBR! There was DH, myself, DD and DS (3 and 4 years old then). We stayed in Aruba Bldg. #54 and it was amazingly quiet which was great for naptime. It was a beautiful walk over the bridge to OPR and if we were tired and lazy the internal shuttle was just steps away, too. The bus stop was only two minutes from our front door. The quiet pool at Aruba was just that - quiet. The kids pool over at OPR was very nice and the kids loved it. It has little fountains on the edge for them to go under and play in, too. Depending on how well they can swim they may also like the regualr pool there with the slide - DS went down it with his lifevest on (available at the pool). The food court was nice and had an adequate selection of food - nothing spectacular, but not bad for a food court either. The arcade was nice, too but we didn't spend much time there. We never went to Shutters so I can't comment on that restaurant. The rooms were nice - the largest of the moderates. The mousekeepers were some of the nicest people I've ever met and our rooms were spotless. We got towel animals all but one day and all the kids' stuffed animals were always arranged in cute ways when we got back to the room. The bus transportation was also excellent - the longest we ever waited was 15 minutes. If you sit on the little beach down next to the Banana Cabana bar you can see some of the EPCOT fireworks - enough to be fun. You just can see the ones lower to the lagoon. You'll have a wonderful time at CBR!
We stayed at CBR and I'm not sure I liked it. It has a ton of walking and with a little one walking before you hit the park is never a good thing. Yes it is quiet, but to me it also looked run down and old.
If you are looking for money savings and quiet I suggest Pop Century. I know value resort. We took my friend toddler and we stayed in the 50's and we have a room by the lake. It is quiet and great for naps. It is also close to the main building, and the food is kid and adult friendly.
My father who is a really picky eater was able to get fried chicken while my nephew had chicken fingers. Both were happy and not fighting over I'm not going to eat that happened.

I adore CBR! We stayed in the Jamaica section and it was beautiful, quiet, and still just a short walk across the bridge to Old Port Royale. I would love to stay there again.

I have not stayed at CBR since '91 but I loved CBR! I was hoping to stay there for my last 2 nights of my trip in OCT but nothing avail I also wanted CSR but nothing there either. So I am staying at POR, which for some reason I am not that excited about. Don't know why, I have never stayed at POR

We love CBR. We've always ended up in Aruba, and we love it there. But we prefer the quiet peace of that section. With kids, you are probably going to want to stay in the preferred section or close to it.
There is steel drum music piped into OPR, which I adore. We've always had good food at the food court. Haven't eaten at the restaurant. The island is a fun place for kids to play. We caught Illuminations from the pool bar area, that was nice to sit and enjoy a pina colada while seeing the sky fireworks. Whenever we've visited the quiet pools have been nearly empty, making it a perfect place to hang out. I love to lay in the hammocks on the beach too. The beach is a fun place for the kids to play tag, or build a sandcastle. I picked up a sand shovel with a Mickey shaped handle the other year.

I have three kids DS8 DD6 and DD2 and we are staying at the CBR in 8 short days! We will be there 8 days. I am very excited and will do a complete TR the week I get back. I will also post pics of the resort! I'll let you know how we liked it!
We stayed at CBR back in 2001, and really enjoyed it. We also stayed in the Aruba section, which was quiet - but quite a walk to the food and main pool area. With little ones, I'd suggest you stay closer to the food area. My favorite thing were the beautiful grounds. We didn't mind the fairly long walk every morning (it was just DH and myself) to get to the food, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and the music piped in really gets you in that "tropical" mindset. We really enjoyed our stay there and would stay again in the future.

CBR is my favorite of the moderates. The rooms were clean, large, and festive.
The food court has an awesome selection, and IMO, a better selection than POR and POFQ. It also has a table service restaurant.
I have heard many complain about the long walks at CBR and this often gives CBR a bad rap. However, our walk at POR from the mansions to the food court was longer than our walks from CBR's Jamaica to Port Royale FC.
I suggest requesting a room in Jamaica 45 or 46, or Aruba 51. These building are a short walk over the bridge to the food court, and close to the Jamaica bus stop.
You can kind of see the Epcot fireworks between the food court and Martinique.
The rooms do have a fridge so it you can stock up on snacks and even get milk for cereal.
The CBR is a very nice moderate resort, while not my favorite, I do think it trumps the other moderates. No matter where you stay in the CBR walking will be a factor. Someone's idea of a short walk might as well be a mile for a person such as myself who has limited mobility. However, when we did stay there in January, my son who is 5 didn't really have any trouble walking. It was us who had trouble carrying a sleeping toddler back to the room! I think if you ask for a room by the bus stops you will probably enjoy this resort immensely. Since the vast size of this resort there is an internal shuttle bus that can shuffle you around to the pool and restaurant if little legs become fatigued.
Shutters was ok. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but it wasn't terrible. The food court does have a nice selection and I found that the CM's went out of their way to be as helpful and as accommodating as possible.
CBR is also a resort which has always met my requests for rooms. You can see Epcot from the lake at CBR and watching some of Illuminations was certainly possible. The pool side bar is very nice as is the outdoor seating area. We utilized some of the boats at the marina one morning just to have a little fun. Overall, it is a very nice place and worth a try.
