As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

We have about $300 on our Disney Rewards Visa that I've been adding to before our trip in Feb '08. How easy is it to use the card once you get to WDW? I looked at their brochure on online and it doesn't list very many restuarants/stores for each theme park. I figured it would be accepted all over WDW.
I'm mostly concerned with the character meals. I think I've finally decided to skip on the DDP ~ with all the changes, it just doesn't make sense for my family (plus my girls are very light eaters DD8 & DD5).
Will I be able to pay for some of our character meals ~ CRT, 1900 Park Fare, Cape May Fare, Chef Mickey's???
Anyone with previous experience with the card will be greatly appreciated! Thanks
You should be able to pay for character meals with the card. I think it's accepted at any Disney-owned store or restaurant that accepts credit cards.
Another option that we have used is to charge meals to our room, then go to the front desk at the resort and have the balance on our Rewards Card applied to our account.
I was just looking on the Disney Rewards visa card site and when I clicked on the link that was labeled "see rewards redemption locations at the Walt Disney World Resort" it took me to a page labeled "Most Popular Disney Reward Redemption Locations" with an asterik after it, leading to the fine print at the bottom saying it was not a complete listing of redemption locations. Also on another page on that site it states that you can use your rewards on almost anything at the parks/resorts. I really think you can use it anywhere that accepts credit cards. (Hopefully since for our upcoming trip we plan on using our rewards dollars for any food we order for DD (since DH and I are on the dining plan), as well as for souvenirs and any extras...

I always just hand it over at checkin to put down on my room then just use my room charge. That being said, it can be used almost anywhere in the parks.

I LOOOOOVE my Disney Rewards Visa. We have about $300 each time we've gone for the past few years. We usually use it for meals. I've never had a problem using it any restaurant (counter or sit-down) or any store in the theme parks. It provides a lot of our spending money when we go. This time we have close to $450 on it which we'll be using at check-in to pay for our DDP - Free meals all week!
Also, when you're doing souvenir shopping you get 10% off at World of Disney store in Downtown Disney when you pay with your visa. They have a lot of the same stuff you see throughout the parks. We usually do our souvenir shopping here so that we can save the 10%.
Just so I wouldn't have a problem as I didn't know where I could use it , I used all my reward points (almost 500 at the time) to pay off my remaining balance last year. It made it easy because then I didn't have to think of what card to use when I was in the parks
Has anyone ever used their rewards card for stroller rental? I was just going to do a length of stay rental and pay for it with the rewards card.
I don't like to do room charging because I am very anal about physically having my allotted cash in hand. I have envelopes for every day, and the "left-over" money from each day goes into the next envelope. That way, if I have extra money at the end of the trip, I can splurge on something special without exceeding my budget. I hate trying to keep track of receipts, etc.
I have never had a problem using my rewards card but I have had problem using thos Visa, Mastercard & American Express git credit cards at the parks. If I ever get those again I never bring them to WDW.

There are alot of places you can use the rewards card. I have the full listing that they sent me once with my bill. If you would like me to email it to you, just PM me and let me know. We have $308 on ours and plan on using it for all of our TS meals. It is very easy to use, just like a debit/credit card.

We gathered up some t-shirts and other souvenirs at the Rainforest Cafe gift shop in Animal Kingdom and handed over our Disney Rewards Card to pay for it, and they said they couldn't accept it because they are not a Disney owned store. So, make sure you use it at Disney owned facilities.
