As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We are going on Saturday with my DGD. Her Crown Package is her birthday present from her Papa and me. I made up a certificate and gave it to her for her birthday. I will be sure to mention that this is her birthday present when we are there. Didn't think about her having her nail polish off that I think she still has on from last week's "manicure" I gave her. I better remember to pack the nail polish remover as they are leaving in the morning, and I won't see her until we get to WDW on Friday morning.
I am booking this for my DD is Dec. I hope to get into the BBB in the castle instead od DTD. I bought her a new cinderella costume on e-bay for her birthday back in April. It is really pretty and I think I paid $30 before shipping. MUCH cheaper than at the parks.

Everyone else did a great job describing the experience so I won't go into details on that. I brought the dress from home, and we did the middle package. As many said they painted DD's nails, but did offer to put the fake ones one. She decided to take the fake ones home, and have the polish there. I did see some of the girls having the castle package done, but to me it made more sense to bring the dress (Ebay $27 w/shipping) We did end up buying the shoes. DD had the Disney Diva, and loves wearing the hair extention from time to time.
When we go back in Oct. both of us are going to the BBB in the Castle the day we are going to MNSSHP and CRT. The castle prices are a little more, and I booked the Coach package because I can paint our nails ahead of time. The experience is so wonderful! And all day the CM's treated DD like royality! When we boarded the bus leaving DTD the driver gave her a special ring (fake costume jewerly) and chatted w/DD the whole way. Plus she changed her speach to say "for the comfort of Princess Selena we ask that you refrain from eating, drinking, biting,spitting, namecalling, smoking, and loud noises".
Princess Avery has done all three packages: Crown, Castle and Coach.
Coach is the least expensive package. Avery did this one at Easter as she had her own costume. This is a nice one to start off with.
Crown is the second most expensive package. Avery did this one last August and she got a crown for her 'Fairytale Princess' look. She got hair and press-on nails with this.
The Castle is the most expensive package and Avery got this one as a Christmas present. She wanted the Ariel bride dress for Christmas and since she wears her costumes like crazy all year, we went and did it. She felt truly special as they had her costume, shoes and accessories all set aside. Her photo session was a lot of fun and afterwards we went to the Princess Dinner at Akershus. Everyone kept remarking on how pretty she looked, especially Ariel. She picked the Disney Diva for this one:
Also FYI, the BBB stylist didn't do the crown of braids. That was done by a lovely lady named Sylvette during our cruise on the Disney Wonder 4 days prior.
Just so you know, the makeup is nice (and I'm pleased they have come out with a slightly more vivid palette of colors for darker skins) but if your child has oily skin like Princess Avery, the makeup won't last but for just a few hours. The hairstyle lasts for quite a long time though!

I'm still deciding if DD11 is "too old" for this...
There's no such thing as "too old" for BBB, IMO! (This coming from a childless adult who did BBB [as did my friend, also a childless adult] and loved it.) If you think she might balk a bit if she walks in and there are only younger girls there (there may or may not be), you could always make an app't for yourself, as well, so the two of you can be made up together. Then you can take some of the PhotoPass photo session photos together (and some separate from each other) to create an everlasting, wonderful memory!
we are definatly looking forward to BBB...i knwo my daughter is gonna enjoy it....unfortunatly we have outgrown the dress stage...so im now trying to figure out a way to make her look like a princess at her age.....a little more "grownie" princess we will do the 35$$ package....and i really wanna do it too.....lol..but i think ill wait til the next trip to get my "do"

Do I understand correctly that there is a package you can purchase for boys?? If so has anyone done it. Not sure if my DS (7) would want to or not. I would like to know more about it.

Yes, they have a "Cool Dude" package for males. They use colored hair gel, including making a Mickey head shape on the back of the head, and colorful confetti. I think it is $10. (The same/similar treatment at MK's Harmony Barber Shop is $5, I think.)
Do a Google search for photos, as I know there are photos posted on at least one other Disney board of boys who have had this experience.
