As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

buy a used car that is 2 years old with 30,000 miles on it, for around 25 k ( the new one is 43) or
spend a $1000.00 to fix up your old car that has 123,000 miles on it when the dealer only will give 3500.00 for it...
I'm not sure if I posted about this a month ago, but I have been on the fence about this for that long.
The car I want is an AWD Toyota Sienna, the car I have is a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country... the Toyota is the only van on the market right now that has AWD which I most definitely need.
I can't afford the payments on an '07, but I could swing the payments on a used one. I was hoping to find one with less mileage on it, but this one has everything on it I want ( all three automatic doors, the AWD, the third row that folds into the floor & DVD system)

My opinion is that I would do whichever option I could pay cash for. I am trying to pay off all of my debt and don't want another car payment. Right now my car is a 2001, and although I would love a new one, I am not buying another one until I save up enough cash. That's just me, though!

Definitely get the Toyota! I've had several Toyota cars and they are always reliable. My Chrysler Town & Country was a lemon and I will never buy another Chrysler. Put your money into what you need...the AWD.
Get the Toyota. My next car will be a used one. I find it's such a waste of money for brand new. And you don't want to keep dumping money into something with that many miles on it.
Definitely the Toyota for me. After 100,000 miles, no matter how well you've cared for a car, you're gambling with major expenses in repairs. And you know car repairs - they spring up at the worst possible times!!

Is it certified used?? We recently bought a 2005 Honda Odyssey, certified used with 15000 miles on it. Like brand new, just $4000 less!! The warranty is phenomenal and it is the exact same color and model of the new one I went to buy that day!! I highly recommend the certified used car option
We had a Crisis Caravan that we were so happy to unload. We bought my Kia used and so far, so good. My Dad's rule is if the repair is more than 25% of the car's value, it's time to upgrade.

I guess it would depend on how many more miles you think you can get out of your Town and Country. If it is basically in fairly good shape and might run for quite awhile longer, then the $1000 investment might be more worthwhile. However if it has reached the point where the $1000 might be the first many expensive repairs to come, then upgrading might not be the worst idea. Personally I don't want any more car payments once my car is paid off, so I probably wouldn't spend that much on a vehicle~new or used. But if it is something that you really want and you think it is a good deal for you, then I would say go for it. Good luck!
