As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I have avoided the stamping craze. My mother is a stamper. I swear she buys stamps, uses them once, and never finds them to use them again. She has boxes, totes, and crates full of stamps. Each box or tote is themed, but there's no rhyme or reason once you look in the box. As the daughter of a disorganized stamper, it appears to be a terrifying, messy hobby.
My scrapbooking desk looks like I'm the daughter of The Anal Retentive Chef from SNL by comparison.
I hope you have a storage plan!

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I am a stamping addict! I definitely prefer stampin' up for their cardstock...it is SOOO much better quality than the stuff you buy at craft stores! If there is a stampset that you just love I would make sure you could really see yourself using that set for several different projects before investing in it. I cannot tell you how many times I bought a stamp set because I had seen this really cute card that I just had to make....3 years later I may have only used that set twice...what a waste! BUT...they do have some very cute sets that I've gotten a whole lot of use out of. Personally I prefer to buy my sets through stampin' up because they come in a box that you can label and its easy to find the exact stamp you are looking for. If you just buy individual stamps at Micheals or some other craft store you end up with a huge box full of random stamps and you can never find anything (I speak from experience ) Also, I definitely prefer stampin' up's ink. It seems to last longer and is better quality in my opinion. Have I confused you yet?

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I'm a BIG Stampin' Up person. I've been buying their stuff since 1997; I've been a member of our Hostess Clubs since 2004. Each month we spend $15 a piece and then one of us is the hostess; that way we each get the benefits for our month.
I'm the hostss in February which I'm excited about since it will be Sell-a-bration.
PM me if I can help answer any questions.

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I'm a total stamping maniac. I have thousands. Stampin' Up stamps are great for getting a set (or two) that will work together. There are other stamp companies out there with similarly themed sets though I have never ordered from them.
Other sources of stamps besides the Joann and Michaels etc are your local stamp store and online. Well over half my stamps are unmounted (just the rubber image part)Something to consider if you get totally hooked on stamping as itis cheaper and doesnt take as much space. www.twopeasinabucket.com has a stamping forum that has great advice. They also have tons of samples in the gallery

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
You don't see me, I'm not here, I'm working...
I love Stampin' Up, BUT, I found a new company I love even more...Technique Tuesday! I got some of their stuff at CKC Tulsa and just signed up to be a vendor for them. That's saying a lot, b/c I don't usually do that much stamping (just collect them, really). These are clear and stick to an acrylic block, then go right back on the little storage sheet. I love them b/c they don't take up very much space, plus being clear you can see exactly where you are putting it and if you make an oops, it's easier to stamp it again without at shadow. You can order straight from them at www.techniquetuesday.com.
You never saw me...I'm going back to work now!
PS> If you haven't seen the new Cosmo Cricket holiday paper...FIND SOME! I want to just plaster my walls with it, forget scrapping. I can hardly bring myself to trim it, even!

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
Regardless of where you get them, establish a system to store and find them from the beginning, it's much, much easier...
I have lots of stamps. I store them by holiday/season/or miscellaneous. My secret is to sequentially number them, as I buy them. The first stamp is onto a sheet of paper, inside my index 3 ring binder, with the page number the same as the stamp number. I write the number on the ends of hard stamp and on the back of backless stamps. Then, beside the stamp, I write what group it is being stored in.
If I didn't do this, I'd never find them
and Have Fun!!!

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I've been to a couple of parties, and while I had fun making the cards I don't think it's something I would use enough to justify the cost. Scrapbooking is expensive enough for me.

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
I like to stamp but really try to use self control when buying stamps. I tend to only buy Christmas stamps to do Christmas cards. I have a few routine stamps like "Thank You"; "Wedding Wishes"; and "Happy Birthday". I sometimes make cards using these, but generally its too much of a pain to get them out to make one card.
What I have found that works for me is I sign up to go to a card class. When you go to a class, you can make several cards using several different stamps and the good thing is you do not have to buy the stamps!! You are using theirs!! (Of course, you have to pay for the class.)
For example, the Creative Memories lady I use has a monthly workshop held jointly with a Stampin Up lady. This month the Stampin Up lady is holding a class where you make 20 different Christmas cards. She brings the stamps, the ink, the paper, etc. We just stamp them and put them together. The cost of the class is around $25. So, it works out for me. That way, I get the homemade stamped cards, but I am not paying a fortune for stamps PLUS the cards actually get done!!

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
Another nice thing about taking a class, like Maggie mentioned, is that you get ideas for a general layout for a card and then can make your own variations of that one at home using supplies you have on hand like stickers or your computer to do the writing instead of a stamp.
I'm like Maggie, I have the basics and holidays ones but not a whole lot of others. They just cost too much for me to rationalize purchasing and then only using a few times. I have found some nice ones at garage sales though.

Re: Rubber Stampin!!!
One benefit of stamping is to use an alphabet set (CTMH has a long block) and you can build your own words, phrases, titles etc. And you can get them in any color that you have ink for, and you can use the ink to edge the edges of mats, journaling boxes etc. My friend does CTMH and I really like the clear stamps.
