Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I think Papaw has lost his mind!!

If you have any extra pixie dust PLEASE send it my way! My dad for christmas bought all 6 grandkids a horse. Well he just bought the farm a year ago and 14 cows that had one baby a piece. Last fall he bought a bull, then the horse. Monday he told me he bought another horse! So the kids can ride with a adult, my kids are 7yrs and 2yrs. I think the man has lost his marbles! Yes he grew up on a farm, but I'm thinking that I need to send him to the farm (Funny Farm that is!) I guess my major problem is that both horses are under 2, not broke not even to harness or lead. I have been so busy reading every horse book I can get my hands on! Also I'm taking my General Contractor's exam at the end of the month! I'm going to be on the Funny Farm come March or by the end of summer, when both horses will be broke to ride!

Oh Boy Skychey!

Sounds like you have a neat dad! I would love being around a farm again. Nope, he isn't ready for the "Funny Farm" He is just trying to keep from going there!

I never had the privilege of breaking in a horse but did love to ride (when I was younger). My uncle bought a Quarter horse which I rode everytime I visited. I rode Western never got into the English style.

Here is a load of Pixie Dust to help you with your up coming test... (I KNOW YOU WILL DO WELL! )

As for your dad, THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY! Wish I lived closer, I would come help him out!

Oh brother. Are the horses at your place for you to take care of? Hope not. I remember as a kid (11 to 14) we had a couple of horses. My brother and sisters did like to ride, but hated the cleaning of the stalls that went along with it. At one point we used to recruit friends of ours to help with promises of riding the horses AFTER the cleaning. Well, each friend only did that once before riding was not THAT much fun. Best of luck to you.

Re: I think Papaw has lost his mind!!

Well we went and picked up the new horse today, mind you this is after I had my fill of horses for the day. I live a hour away so it is hard for me to go more than once a week. After cleaning the barn where horse #1 (starbuck) lives and getting the other side for horse #2 (Copper), I went to see if Starbuck would let me pet him and he bit me! The thanks I get! When they got back with Copper, he was real good. They both are Quarter, Copper is registered. Suppose to have good blood. He let us pet him. Starbuck's previous owners never did anything with him so he is kinda nervous around people. Hopefully this will change. I guess me and the kids in the barn for a couple hours spooked him alittle.

It is pretty cool that he got them a horse, but why couldn't he buy me one when I was younger! Yes I'm pouting. Still fun though especially when we turn on their road and the DD starts yelling for the cows and horses and we still have a 2 mile drive!

Debe, I thought you lived on a farm with all of the animals??

Re: I think Papaw has lost his mind!!

Skychey, I've been riding since I was nine (twenty-five now!), and I'm so jealous of your kids!!! How lucky!! Horses are wonderful, but they need training. I'd recommend two excellent books for you, they were given to me by a farrier friend of mind and they are wonderful!!

The first is by a woman named Mary Twelveponies (yes, that's her real name!) and it's called "There are No Problem Horses, Only Problem Riders" It will really help you teach them stable manners, which are SO important in a horse. Also, get Sally Swifts' "Centered Riding". That's a classic, and will help you learn how to connect with your horse through riding. A lot of elements are borrowed from Tai Chi!

Those are both real lifesaves--they totally helped me. Horses are herd animals, and think that you are just another horse. They will treat you as one, so it's up to you to make sure that they know you're the boss. I don't advocate violence, but you must establish your "herd position" with the horses. Be lead horse!

Anyway, I'm jealous. Having horses in Chicago is a total luxury, which I can't afford!!

Re: I think Papaw has lost his mind!!

skychey, my husband thinks we live on a farm!
We have just little over an acre and have the bird pens (pheasant & Bob White quail) set up near the back of the property. We live in a semi-country setting. Across the street, they have a few cows and other critters... sounds neat in the mornings around here. Roosters and Guinee hens run free... this is our neighborhood pest control

If property wasn't so expensive around here, we probably would have a FARM where he could have a large bird business.

Re: I think Papaw has lost his mind!!

Thanks Hayley for tje books! I have the first one on my list of books to read and I have added the other to the list too. Maybe I can get them all done by the end of summer (when they both will be broke and ready to ride). Yes, I 've been told about the horse/person thing, but I forgot to mention I was holding DD (2yrs old). So my main concern was her. After I got her out of the pen, it was too late to "establish" myself as the top horse. We don't like the idea of being mean to them, but I do have a training whip now and DD is not allowed in the pen. Star won't get another chance to bite me again, as this is a very bad behavoir. Just glad it was me and not her.

Hey Debe, maybe one day that dream will come. My DH wants to buy a farm too. I just wonder if he will feed the horses (without a fuss), like he does the fish LOL!
