As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Nov. 7
Hey guys,
I just wanted to remind everyone to vote on Tuesday. Not telling you who to vote for, which way to go or anything. Just show up at those polls and make your voice heard.
It's kinda easy to forget to do this, especially when you're planning for a vacation, but Misters Lincoln, Twain and Franklin would all want you to vote. (Not to mention Walt, "Mr. All-American"!)
It's a very important election this year, and we should all exercise our right to vote.
That's all. Vote.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Nov. 7
We voted a few weeks ago. DH had no problems - he gave them his name and they gave him his ballot.
Me, on the other hand, well, they informed me that I didn't exist. I am one of those obnoxious people who goes by their middle name (my mom's fault - she named me but called me Robin). About 2 years after we got married, I decided I should probably change me name on my drivers license. So I went ahead and jused used my first initial then my middle name. Oh yeah, I also hyphenate my last name.
I can't figure out why they couldn't find my voter registration (rolleyes here).
Finally they just tried my pre-married name. Alas I was found and was able to vote.

Re: Nov. 7
Yay Fortissimo!!!
I'm glad you exist!!
Actually, one of my friends had trouble voting--they refused him several times. Plus, they called him to jury duty, and because he couldn't vote, he refused to go. Finally, after four letters to him, he wrote back, "If you won't let me vote, I won't go to jury duty!"
They haven't bothered him since. And, his registration was accepted, thanks to Motor-Voter.
Go figure.

Re: Nov. 7
We completed our ballots tonight. (Monday) Oregon has gone to vote by mail, and this is our first general election that is strictly vote by mail. For those procrastinators like me, we can drop our ballots off at either the County Clerks office or a local County School tomorrow.
Happy voting!

Way to go Beaner!!
Congradulations on your 1st vote!!
It's always an exciting time!
Cruella got out to vote at 8:30 this am and there were 195 that had already voted! That's pretty good for our little town.
My youngest was off school today so I took him in to vote with me. Try to get him involved early!
After doing The American Adventure it reminds us of what a privilage it is to be able to vote, and what we went through to get that right!
So be proud, and let your voice be heard!!

Re: Nov. 7
I've voted every year since I was 18, so that makes 35 years! That is except for 1 year about 8 years ago. They told me I was not registered and they never did find me, so I couldn't vote! BUT I was there to vote, so in my mind that counts.
You know, Wild, The American Adventure does make you realize what a priviledge it is. It's great there seems to be a large turnout today, but I wish it carried over into our everyday lives. With a husband who saw combat in Vietnam and a daughter who is presently serving in the Army Reserves I am so dismayed when citizens do not do the pledge to the flag with the respect it deserves.

Re: Nov. 7
Well, I feel terrible. I tried to go vote today...I got down to the polls to find the wait was 2-3 hours long. I tried to stay in line but I just couldn't physically do it. I had to fast for 18 hours today for a 4 hour long glucose tolerance test which has left me feeling pretty lousy. Not to mention, the building was filled to capacity and about 110 degrees inside. On top of that, I have to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes with the baby pushing on my bladder so..I know all this must sound like some lame excuse, but I really did want to vote. I cried when I finally left I felt so bad. Anyway, that is my sad story for the day !

Re: Nov. 7
I presented myself at the polls this morning (although the time will indicate it was yesterday, it is only 11pm here) at 7am, and walked out of the building at 7:35am. Not bad. I can't imagine what it was between 5 & 7 pm. New Mexico (dispite the fact that the news has given it to Gore) is still up in the air. VERY CLOSE!! Hope everyone took the opportunity to vote. Remember, some people are still fighting for that right.
So much for my political stance.

Re: Nov. 7
Can you believe how close this is? And on top of it we are waiting on Florida. Wow, we have never seen one this close. Just shows, you gotta vote. I voted up here at 10:30 AM and only had to wait about 5 min.

Re: Nov. 7
Waited about 1 hour 15 minutes to vote yesterday, and about half way through, all I could think was...."If only there was a WDW ride at the end of this line, it wouldn't be so bad!". Turned out to be a pretty pleasant time even with kids in tow....talked with lots of people and saw many neighbors and their kids. -HiddenMickey
