Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

Hey, y'all!

I just got back from a week-long excursion to Jamaica (Negril, to be more specific). It was absolutely gorgeous down there, and if you're ever looking for a "romantic getaway" (and for some insanely odd reason, you're not looking to go to WDW), then Negril, Jamaica just may be the place for you.

I was actually down there "on business" (and I use that term so very loosely). Basically, I was the "Guest Aerobics Instructor" for the week, which meant that I had to show up for all of the classes that they offered during the day (usually 2-3), and then I'd leave after 15 minutes (because nobody ever came to class--would you want to be on a schedule while you're on the beach?), and head back to the beach.

Anyway, I got to stay at one of those totally awesome "all-inclusive" resorts (this one is called Couples), and here's the kicker--I got to stay there for FREE It was like a $3,000 vacation for two for only the cost of my airfare.

Ok...I'm sorry for rambling on like that--I just wanted to share my fun w/you guys. But, I do have to admit that, even though I was thoroughly enjoying soaking up the sun and drinking Pina Coladas all day long, I was secretly looking forward to my upcoming WDW vacation (do you think they need aerobics instructors there as well? )

So, if you're ever looking for a relaxing, sun-filled vacation, give a look-see over at the all-inclusives in Negril. Since they're on the west end of the island, they have the most breathtaking sunsets (I even captured a few on film).

Ok...now focusing on the more important issues. We're going to WDW! Yay!!! Only 18 Days 23 Hrs 29 Mins 39 Secs! Can't wait to see you guys at the Gathering!

P.S. If I hear that "Hot, Hot, Hot" song one more time, though, I think I'll actually throw up. Every 15 minutes someone, somewhere on that island was performing that song. After awhile, I was hoping a big tidal wave would come up and wash away all of that "excess heat"

Boy it sure must have been a rough vacation... OOPS! I mean Business trip!

I am glad you had a good time down there. I guess all that Tropical heat will help prepare you for Fl.

Glad you are back safe and looking forward to meeting you at the gathering

Re: Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

HiddenMickey,

I'm really sorry that your vacation was spoiled by the rain. We did indeed feel the (semi-)wrath of Debbie (no, not you, DebE ). She hit on Thursday, and it rained until Saturday a.m., and as we were hopping into the van to head home, the sun came out. Go figure!

Yes, I have also heard mixed reviews about Ocho Rios. The dichotomy between the rich and the poor was probably the most shocking and/or depressing element of the trip. Here I was basking in the warm sun, drinking and eating to my heart's content, while just 15 miles down the road, people were probably starving and shoeless. It really makes you stop and appreciate everything that you've got.

I did indeed get to lead a few classes (the aquacize classes turned out to be very popular--of course, I had to ban the drinking of Pina Coladas and Bloody Marys during class ).

Cruella,

I actually considered "trying out" to teach aerobics on various cruise lines (this was 2 years ago when I graduated college), but I decided I should use my degree and actually try to make a career w/my mathematics training. So far, it's working ok.

Oh, and don't worry, because I get it all the time--however, I am of the male persuasion (I know...the User Name and job description (i.e., aero instructor) probably don't help my case very much ). I actually get quite a kick out of it sometimes. Hey, I guess, in cyberspace, we don't even see genders...just people (and, in our case, wonderful WDW-loving people).

Anyway, I know this is totally awful of me to say it, but I'm kinda glad the Jamaica trip is over, only because it means that I'm THAT much closer to going to WDW. My co-workers are SO sick of me carrying my PassPorter w/me down to the cafeteria. I just keep reading and re-reading all of our plans and all of the descriptions of the things that we'll be doing in WDW.

Is there any way for me to make the time go by faster? Maybe I should spend some more time tonight playing with my Walt Disney World Explorer (even though it is a *little* outdated)...

We now own 25 Disney movies, and are watching one each night as we count down the days. It's just one way I can think of to keep the excitement growing---see you guys soon!!!

Re: Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

I'm so embarassed, Aerobics! It's a good thing that we are all meeting in a few short weeks so that I will finally have some faces to go with these names! Please accept my apology! I 'assumed' and, well, you know how the rest of that phrase goes! PLease forgive me!

Anyway, to make up for my gauche faux pas, I will share with you the secret that has kept me going for the past 6 months while I wait for our two trips to the Magic! Go to www.wdwmagic.com and scroll down to the Trip Report Archives and click on it. In here, you will find an astounding amount of trip reports that will transport you to WDW for a few hours. I warn you, however, some of them are veeeerry long (50 pages or more, printed out) but they are guaranteed to give you some of the magic and make the time go by a little more quickly! Unless, of course, like me, you have read just about all of them!

Happy reading!

Lucky you-
Sounds like a great get-away! My DD is going on a similar free trip with her friend to Hawaii.

It's hard to believe that our WDW meeting is getting so close! I'm starting to get excited!

Re: Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

Very COOL, Aerobics!! Glad you had a good time. Sounds like a nice break in the usual routine of things. Did you ever lead a class?

I took a trip to Jamaica for a second honeymoon once----the worst vacation I ever had. . We were near Ocho Rios on the north of the island, and it had been raining for a month before we got there and rained every day we were there. The only thing there was to do, was drink at the outdoor bar and we are not drinkers. We traveled around a bit in our rental car and saw quite a bit of the island, but found it pretty depressing (the rain and the poorness of the people). We left half-way through our vacation to go home. Turns out the folk on the west of the island (Negril) had sun during the week. So, you went to the right place!

Boy, you are one lucky girl! What a great job, but then I guess someone has to do it! Maybe you should visit Central Casting while you're down there at WDW!

(oops! - see my posting later...)

Re: Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

Aerobics - once again I find myself having to apologize! I gave you the wrong site! www.wdwmagic.com is a great site but not for trip reports! The trip report site is www.mouseplanet.com and the Trip Report Archive is almost at the end of the page.

Sorry! I'm having a senior week!

Re: Jamaica sure is \"Hot, Hot, Hot\"!!!

Cruella,

You are an absolute trip! I'm totally giggling here at work (and I'm sure my neighboring cube-dwellers, oops, I mean co-workers are getting annoyed).

I did actually get to check out www.wdwmagic.com, and it was really cool. I'll have to give the Mouse Planet one a try as well. I've been printing out trip reports from other sites, and taking them home to read them at night before I go to bed.

I can't imagine any other to get myself in the mood for the trip!!! I'm so excited!!! Can't wait to meet all of you guys on the 22nd.

17 Days 0 Hrs 49 Mins 36 Secs...this is KILLING me!!!

Try mouseplanet.com - you'll really like it! I must have over a hundred trip reports from there, some are over 50 pages!
