As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Any tips for T-gving evening?
Hello everyone! I am a new passporter and old(not in age) disney fan. I have been to Disneyland once and this is our first family vacation in 16 years!! We are stoked! I got my passporter deluxe yesterday and have read it cover to cover already! It is so helpful-wish I would of had it 6 months ago. My question to you wonderful people is this-What do we do when we arrive? We arrive on Thanksgiving day at around 6pm.(I think the parks close at 11pm that day)I also read on this website that they reinstated e-nights! Got any suggestions of what to do for our first night? My DD's are 14 and 10 yrs old. I heard Epcot would be good for the parade and illuminations-whadya think? Any tips for this first night will be helpful. We will be staying for 6 days total at CBR. Sorry this is so long...I'm countin' the hours!!!! YEEHAAAAA!!!

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
WELCOME TO THE PASSPORTER BOARDS!
What kind of passes do you or are you going to have. If you have passes for a specific number of days, you probably wouldn't want to use one of those days for just an evening. If you are getting the Ultimate Park Hopper or Annual Pass, then a park would be a good choice. On Thanksgiving, Epcot is open 'til 9 and MK is open 'til 11. MK might be a better option because by the time you check in and travel to Epcot, you time in the park would be very short.

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
Thanks for your reply. We have 6-day length of stay ultimate park hopper passes.(starting at check-in around 5:30 on T-giving)If MK is open till 11 then what would be the best bet? I just don't want to waste any time as my kids will be real anxious to do something that night. My DH and I will be too! So, if you would not go to a park, what would you do? Thanks guys for any ideas.

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
Ok, where are you staying?
Disney West Side might be an option. Your kids would probably enjoy Disney Quest. There are also many options for eating at Downtown Disney.
Do you have a PassPorter so that you can do some research?
If it isn't too much of a tease, riding the monorail is a very magical experience, especially at night!
You can watch the fireworks at MK from the beach at the Polynesian. Or you can view them from the observation deck at the Contempory located on the 15th floor. They are scheduled for 9 p.m. on the 22nd.
Any other suggestions, guys?

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
Are you planning on a Thanksgiving dinner? If so, call Disney Dining as soon as possible, to see what your options are - many restaurants are already heavily booked. That may help decide which park you'll visit.
You'll certainly get more "play" time if you go to MK (open 'til 11) than Epcot (open 'til 9), but I suspect you'll have more dinner opportunities at Epcot, as MK only has four choices for a full-service dinner, and I suspect that Liberty Tree Tavern is already fully booked. You might have dinner at Captain's Tavern at CBR (not exactly our favorite), but it is a relatively small restaurant, so that, too, may be fully booked. Finally, if you end up doing dinner at Epcot you could still hop the monorail over to MK for a final hour or two of play.

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
We will not be looking to do a big dinner. We will just have snacks in our room then a big dinner the next day. We just want to party! Do rides and stuff-look at light, fireworks or whatever. I do appreciate the ideas. Does anyone know if MK is open till 11 on the 23rd of Nov.? If it is then we could save that(MK) for the next day. Any more ideas or thoughts? I love this website-it is so incredibly helpful and you guys are all so nice to share your help and experiences! I do have a passporter, by the way! It is so helpful...

Re: Any tips for T-gving evening?
Hi Lil Poohbear!
I just reponded to another post that you wrote, about how you are going to spend Turkey Day evening. This is also our 1st vacation (15 years) and 1st trip to WDW. We will be staying at CBR also and STOKED is a great way to put it. We will be there 11/20-11/27 and are planning on spending Turkey Day at MGM. We have a dinner PS for Prime Time 50's cafe for 6:30 and then will cap off our evening with a stroll thru the Christmas Osborne Light Display. We are planning a late night the day before (Wed) at MK e-ride till 11:00. So a lesiurely stroll at MGM Thursday night is perfect for our family.
Have fun and maybe we'll see you at CBR. Let the Pixie Dust Fly
