Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I personally played softball in a league from age 8-16. LOVED it! I played catcher and could hit pretty decently. Of course, most of the time was spent in dance classes. I started classes at age 4 and went until I was 16 going from the basics to pointe ballet. That was my obsession. Unfortunately, 8 years of playing catcher and about 8 years on pointe played havoc on my knee and I had to leave both at age 16.

DH played baseball and football throughout his years in grade school and high school.

Oh I like this thread! Well, in grade school I hated physical ed because we had an aweful teacher. Soooo, my interest in sports was pretty much non-existent.

As a pre-teen, I couldn't decide what sport I liked so I tried a lot (including horseback riding which I had to give up due to allergies , volleyball, aerobics, and soccer). Later I found my way to basketball - finally a sport I didn't stink at So that's what I did in high school. Haven't played in quite a while now, though. I also started dancing (jazz dance, hip hop) a few years ago and loved it! For the past year I haven't been able to do any "real" sports (severe back problems) but I'm hoping to start again in the near future

So, yeah, for me it's basketball and dancing.

I was in little league for a while and then long distance track for a while in high school, but was pretty terrible. I also bowled on a league for a couple of years.

Dh played HS basketball, bowled in a league for years, and played on a softball team for a few years.

DS (12) Played soccer for about a 1/2 season when he was 7 and that's it. He's been in band for a few years though and loves that...

DS (4) just started soccer and loves it. We are planning on signing him up for t-ball this spring, and will probably continue the soccer next year. He wants to play hockey next, but we'll see about that.

My sports are:

Contact shopping This requires great skill, the ability to tackle someone twice your size for the perfect pair of pumps you just spotted on sale.

Power Drinking This requires an awesome tolerance for all things alcoholic and a wonderful DD.

Dancing The ability to keep on your feet while power drinking and moving to a beat without looking like Elaine from Seinfeld.

Housework The ability to keep a spotless house while still holding down a full time job, raising a child, doing all the shopping, taking care of pets and family.

And last but certainly not least, I scuba dive.

Me: I cheered and ran track in elementary school but that was the extent of my athletic career

DH: Played football from 5th grade through high school.

DD1 (age 17): Played basketball and softball from age 8 until she graduated from elementary school and then played one year of field hockey in high school and intramural flag football for two years as well.

DD2 (age 9) is my athlete. She has been playing T-ball since she was three then progressed to pitching machine baseball and now softball. Softball is her best sport and she hit a game winning grand slam and was the MVP on her team last year. She also plays basketball (since she was 4) where she was the top defensive player on her rec league team that won two championships last year. She just started playing soccer last fall and she is just getting the hang of it although she did score her first goal last week

DD3 (age 6) has played t-ball since she was 3 and then played pitching machine baseball for a year. She didn't play baseball last year because she said she didn't like the pitching machine. She moves up to softball this year and says she is going to play. She has also been playing basketball since she was 4 and will play again this year. This is the first year she will play competitive basketball the last couple years she played in an instructional league. She is also talking about giving up dancing school next year (which she has done since she was 2 1/2) and swimming for her elementary school.

DD4 (age 3) Hasn't started playing sports yet but she is anxiously waiting for spring so she can start playing T-ball like her sisters She does dance (tap and ballet) which she started last year.

In the 60s and early 70s (pre Title 9) there weren't a lot of girls' sports. I was a pom-pon girl and a track team timer. I did swim and was a pretty fair water skier. My DS21 tried baseball, but it wasn't his thing. Soccer was his sport. My DD23 was the athelete in the family. She played softball, soccer, a little basketball and her main sport was volleyball. She curremtly coaches a girl's club volleyball team, plays on a kickball team, 2 volleyball teams and 3 softball teams in their appropriate season.

I was a cheerleader in 6th grade and then was recruited to basketball in 7th and 8th. I'm 5' 10", so I think that's why they wanted me. I was actually pretty good and went and tried out everyday for freshman year try-outs, but the last day, can't remember why I didn't finish.

Both kids already like to play basketball, so we'll see.

DH didn't play sports, he was in Marching Band all through HS

I wasn't ever particularly athletic, but I was in quite a few sports as a kid. I took figure skating for a couple years. I played on my jr high girls' softball team and went to the Districts Competition for track and field in Grade 9. I also curled for the girls' curling team all through jr high and high school. I was a cheerleader in Grade 7, but that was the only year our school had a cheerleader squad. And I took swimming lessons in cold northern lakes for a few summers until I earned my Royal Lifesaving Society's Life 1 badge. If I'd gone one more summer I'd have been a qualified lifeguard but I was tired of having hypothermia daily. Nowadays, I golf when I get the chance and I love to ride my bike or walk.

DH: he went to school in a small town (his class had 23 graduates), so he played everything available -- except hockey. Softball, football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and curling.

DS: We couldn't afford hockey, nor did I want him to partake in such a violent sport (in Canada hockey is all about the fights, even though the parents say it isn't, and the young ones aren't allowed contact). So he started playing soccer when he was 8 and at almost 20 y.o., he still plays organised soccer.

DD: She started playing soccer and was a fabulous goal keeper - the last year she played, nobody scored on her the entire last half of the season and they won the City trophy and the year before that they came in 2nd in the Division. But she developed Osgood Schlatters Syndrome and that killed any athletic ideas she ever had. She still to this day has some trouble walking even.

DH: Lacrosse, football, basketball, track as a kid and throughout high school; lacrosse in college.

Me: Soccer and basketball growing up; in high school Field Hockey, Basketball, Indoor Track and Soccer; in College I played soccer. Thank goodness that I have the surgical scars on my knees to show that I was once athletic, otherwise I wouldn't even believe it myself!

Both DDs are serious about Irish Dance and Soccer. They've dabbled in gymnastics, too, but there's just no time for everything they want to do!

I played softball as a child and up to and including 10th grade. Then I played a little coed softball as an adult with dd's dad.
DD (age 12) as you can see from my signature picture has played ice hockey since she was 4. She also has played softball and soccer although she is good at every sport she has ever tried (scaled a rock wall at the age of 4)

Me - T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Pitching machine, Softball until High School. I hated it, but was good so Dad made me play. Divorce when I entered HS settled that one. Volleyball in HS then absolutely nothing else...EVER! Couldn't now if I wanted to.

DH - Nothing. His parents told their 4 boys, "If you want to play something, you'll need to find a way to get there and back, and someone who will pay for it." (NICE!!!)

DS - 17 - TBall (5yrs old only - hated it)
Soccer 5yrs - 13yrs (Excellent soccer player. HS coach was calling to make sure he would play for him. His little league coach died from cancer and he was never able to go back on the field. He was so close to this man. It was his friends father. He stills goes and visits his grave, "Just to chat", as he says.)
Wrestling 5yrs - 14yrs old (very good until torn ACL),
Steer Riding - 9 yrs - 13 yrs Time to move up.
Bullriding - 14yrs - 17 yrs (struggled...never really did well...He started at an age where he already knew everything and couldn't be taught. He might get better once he starts to listen to the experts.)

DS - 14 - Soccer (5yrs - 8yrs old) Quit when it started interferring with his true love...Rodeo
Mutton Busting (5-6yrs old) Time to move up.
Calf Riding (7-8yrs old) Time to move up.
Steer Riding (9-13yrs old) Time to move up.
PeeWee Bull Riding (13-14yrs old) Found a division between steers and full blown bulls...but alas it's in Oklahoma (3-4 hours away) We still do it! Imagine this...we drive 3 to 4 hours for an 8 second ride, if he makes it that long. (He just took 7th for the state of Oklahoma last weekend and will be going to NATIONALS Nov. 7-11th) Yippee
Bull Riding (14yrs old) He will ride these this year in our home state...Kansas.
