(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Disney when I'm not there
Posted 12-22-2009 at 04:54 PM by Sandra Bostwick
Somehow it seems wierd to think about Disney with all the lights, parades, and beloved attractions going on while I am sitting here in NJ.
I'm pretty sure that Disney does not just open when I get there and close shop when I leave...though I don't have proof.
I always have this strange feeling as I leave, like I am walking away from something so magical...it is a wierd sort-of sadness. The music gets more and more faint as the parks get further away.
There used to be a live Disney webcam. Does anyone remember that? It showed the castle, the hat, and Spaceship Earth. I can't recall if it showed Animal Kingdom. It was always such an odd feeling to sign on there.
I remember the strange feeling on a short trip when I did not go into the parks at all. I stayed at the Dolphin. I walked up to Epcot and looked inside. If there was glass instead of a fence, I'd have smooshed my nose. I could see France and parts of World Showcase. I could hear the music and see the people. What a strange feeling of being somehow "outside".
But when the holidays roll around, that is when Disney going on without me is even stranger. I sure wish I could be there.
So, I know that is not really related to a goal, but it is what I was thinking about when I sat down to blog, so there it is!

I wonder when I am there if that might be, by some reason or another, the last trip I might take. It's a little sad, but I quickly convince myself that surely we will make our way back. We have other trips planned for next year (other destinations). I find myself wondering how I could make time and money enough to go back to WDW too. We've gone to DTD before when on vacation at the beach nearby and it brings strange feelings about being there, but not "being" there.0 Pixie Dust

I feel more magic at WDW then I do at DL. At Disneyland you know you still it Anaheim and there is nothing to really block the city when you are on the edges of the park also for CA Ad. But that park had a resort that has a WDW resort feel to it but that it. Now at WDW you are totally in even though you may not be in side the parks them selves you are really away from the outside world once you see the roud that says which way a park or resort is. I really feel them magic and I don't even have work hard to get around in my chair (put if I had my van with me I'll be all over like over to DTD or saying hi to Gray over at Pops. Plus you know what was behind all of it at WDW when Disney plan it and it is somewhat a Experimental Prototype City Of Tomorrow in Disney's magic. Here something that might tickel your Disney love of WDW . YouTube - Walt Disney's plan for EPCOT
When I also leave it it like take off a warm blanket.0 Pixie Dust

I know exactly what you mean. I was really sick back in my twenties, and it did not look good for any sort of future beyond a couple years. I remember going to Disney and just wondering. That was 20 something years ago, and the life-pirates have sailed away and I am fine, but every time I go to Disney I wonder......
How many people must be aware that this would most likely be their last trip? There are so many people who are ill or just old.
I think of a special friend I had named Liz. She had cancer and we'd made plans to go visit Disney together, just the two of us. She ended up passing before we could take the trip, but whenever I visit I always feel like she is there in spirit because that is where her heart is, in many ways.

That is a really good point, Todd. WDW really is wheel friendly, especially Epcot. I've heard so many people comment on how great it is to be able to get around easily. There are also special accommodations for visual or hearing issues.

Thinking of Liz, I'm sure just by knowing you... she was a kind and gentle person.... and she is now very lucky to be in the presence of Walt, her family and the angels.... and she is with every child's smile/laugh when they are on their very first Disney ride......God Bless Liz, and you for being our friend......0 Pixie Dust
