Changes/Updates to PassPorter Walt Disney World 2007 (Ninth edition, released November 2006) These updates were current as of 8/7/2007. Reminder: These updates do not include every new thing at Walt Disney World, as that would require an entirely new book to explain (and, yes, we will have a 2008 edition in November 2007)! Instead, this chart only lists the pages in PassPorter Walt Disney World 2007 that would be out-of-date or incorrect without this information.

8/7/07	14	Disney World Resort pricing seasons have changed. Below is a list of dates for value, regular, summer, peak, and holiday season as they stand for 2008. For Value and Moderate Resorts: Value: January 1 – February 13, August 3 – October 1, November 30 – December 18 Regular: March 30 – May 21, October 2 – November 29 Summer: May 22 – August 2 Peak: February 14 – March 29 Holiday: December 19 – December 31 For Deluxe and Vacation Club: Value: January 1 – February 13, July 20 – October 1, November 30 – December 18 Regular: March 30 – July 19, October 2 – November 29 Peak: February 14 – March 29 Holiday: December 19 – December 31 Rates have also changed, you can expect an increase of $5 to $15 on standard Value and Moderate rooms and $10 to $30 on standard Deluxe rooms. Vacation Club pricing stays the same. Also a change to note is that starting in 2008 weekend nights (Friday and Saturday) will be higher priced than weeknights (Sunday through Thursday). Each night of stay will be priced separately at that nights given rate. This means that if check-in is during value season and your stay encompasses nights during holiday season you will be charged for holiday rates during those nights, and value rates for the rest of your stay.

2/20/07	26	Walt Disney World announced increases to the rack room rates at their resorts, effective January 11, 2007. This is the rate that is charged for the room not including any discounts. Value resort rates rose approximately $4 per night, Moderate resorts rose approximately $6 per night, Deluxe resorts, DVC properties and Ft. Wilderness rose approximately $10 per night.
5/16/07	28	Beginning June 1, Walt Disney World will prohibit smoking in all guest rooms at more than 20 Disney-owned resorts and Disney Vacation Club properties. There will be designated outdoor smoking areas at each resort. The ban applies to outdoor areas attached to guest rooms such patios and balconies as well. This is consistent with the policy that has already been in effect at Disneyland Resort.
2/20/07	115	Once again the parking has increased and is now $10. The price for valet parking at Walt Disney World Resorts has increased to $10 per day. Disney’s PhotoPass web address on page 115 is incorrect. The address is actually Http://www.disneysphotopass.com
2/20/07	116	Annual Passholders, Florida residents and Disney Vacation Club members who purchase a regular price Pleasure Island multi-club admission from January 1 through March 31, 2007 will be receive unlimited visits to Pleasure Island until June 1, 2007. Guests who purchase a Pleasure Island Annual Pass will receive an additional three months admission, making the Annual Pass a "15 month" Pass. Guests must be 21 or over to purchase the tickets. The Annual Passholder preview of the new Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor Comedy Club that had been scheduled for January 19 - 21, 2007 has been cancelled. The opening of this attraction is now listed as Spring 2007. New preview dates have not been announced.

2/20/07	143/145	The Segway exhibit has been moved to Innoventions West (originally in Innoventions East). After a brief demonstration guests will be given the opportunity to test-drive the Segway (after signing a release waiver). Disney has announced big changes ahead for Epcot's Spaceship Earth. Siemens, which became the attraction's sponsor in November 2006, has announced ambitious new plans including a new storyline, extensive upgrades to existing scenes including lighting, costumes, narration, and score, as well as new scenes depicting "... how the spirit of innovation has moved people from the caves to the cosmos," (per a Disney press release). Also, as previously reported in PassPorter News, students from Carnegie Mellon University have been working on a new post-show that will feature interactive exhibits where guests can explore the future of medicine, transportation, and energy management (not coincidentally, these represent Siemens' three largest businesses). Spaceship Earth is expected to close for rehab later this year, although no definite date has been announced.
2/27/07	147	El Rio del Tiempo at Mexico's pavilion will re-open April 2nd,2007 with a new name and appearance. The attraction will now be called "Gran Fiesta Tour - Starring the 3 Caballeros." Donald Duck, Jose Carioca and Panchito will be featured in a new animated film that accompanies the upgraded boat ride through the pavilion. When Donald goes missing will the Three Caballeros be reunited in time for their concert in Mexico City? Find out beginning April 2007.
2/20/07	149	As predicted in our September 14, 2006 issue and now confirmed by Disney, Canada will be debuting a new CircleVision film later this year in late summer or early fall.
2/20/07	152	Toy Story Mania!, a new attraction at the Disney MGM Studios and Disneyland, will debut in 2008. Using technology borrowed from Turtle Talk with Crush and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin, guests will be welcomed by an interactive Mr. Potato Head, then board ride vehicles and don 3D glasses for a spin through virtual carnival midway complete with games of skill that adapt the degree of difficulty to the guests ability level. (So the games automatically become easier or harder based on the guests score. Cool huh?)
5/15/07	177	Admission to the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon water parks has been increased. A one-day adult pass now costs $39 plus tax and a child's (ages 3 - 9)one-day admission now costs $33 plus tax. Also new for Florida residents is the After 2:00 pm Annual Water Park Hopper Pass which gives admission to either water park after 2:00 p.m. on any day, subject to park capacity. The cost for this annual pass is $59 plus tax for adults and $47.20 plus tax for children.
5/16/07	181	The King's Gallery, the gift shop in Cinderella Castle will be closing on July 15 to make room for ... a second Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, opening in September! Reservations are currently being accepted. Prices for these Princess-oriented salon services will be higher at the Magic Kingdom location than the Downtown Disney location in the World of Disney store. The Coach Package is $35 at Downtown Disney and $44.95 inside the Castle. The Crown Package is $45 at Downtown Disney and $49.95 inside the castle. And the Castle package is $175-$245 at Downtown Disney and $180- $250 inside the castle. (How can you have the Castle Package anywhere but the castle?)
2/20/07	187	As of January 1, 2007 all Pleasure Island clubs (aside from Comedy Warehouse and Adventure Club) at Pleasure Island are restricted to guests ages 21 and up. Those under 21 may still visit The Adventurer's Club and The Comedy Warehouse if accompanied by an adult, and no age restriction exists for Raglan Road Irish Pub & Restaurant.

5/15/07	192	Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts announced the construction of a new luxury resort and 18-hole championship golf course at Walt Disney World. The current Eagle Pines golf course will be upgraded as part of the renovation. The new property is scheduled to open in 2010. Disney also announced the construction of a 450-acre retail, dining and lodging complex on the western edge of the Disney property.

8/7/07	202	January 2008 the Disney Dining Plan will be changing. There will now be two forms of the plan available the first being the standard plan at $37.99/adult and $9.99/child, essentially the same as previous years however no loger including gratuities or appetizers. The second plan is the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan for $69.99/adult and $19.99/child. With this plan, each guest will receive 3 meals and 2 snacks. Table service meals include appetizer, entrée, dessert and a non-alcoholic beverage. “Signature Restaurants” still count as 2 table service meals. Guests will also receive a refillable mug per person, to be used at their resort with the Deluxe plan.
2/20/07	204	Walt Disney World is again changing the children's menus at their food establishments, likely in response to guest feedback. Kid-friendly foods such as macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and chicken nuggets have been reintroduced while healthy options such as pita pizzas, yogurt and fruit remain. Soft drinks and French fries are not listed as the main side dish options for kids meals' but ARE available.
12/21/06	207	Effective January 1, 2007 lithographs will no longer be offered as part of your dinner package at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Instead, diners will receive a Princess Wand for girls and a Prince Sword for boys, children 3-9. The elevator that helps guests with mobility issues at Cinderella's Royal Table will be closed for repairs April 15 - 28, 2007. During this time guests must climb 40 steps to access the restaurant. Please make note of this before making Advanced Dining Reservations!
3/1/07	210	Alfredo's di Roma Ristorante in the Italy pavilion of Epcot's World Showcase will be closing permanently August 31, 2007. Another table service restaurant is planned for that space but no details have been released. Disney Dining will be contacting guests with Advanced Dining Reservations after the closing date. The Patina Restaurant Group has been announced as the operators of the table service restaurant replacing Alfredo's at Epcot's Italy pavilion. The Patina Group currently operates a number of restaurants at Disneyland's Downtown Disney, including Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria, and Catal. The restaurant is scheduled to open on September 1 although the name and the menu have not been announced.
5/15/07	211	The Electric Umbrella in Epcot now features a Walt Disney World theme park first: a self-serve drink station. Park guests can now re-fill their drinks at will.
5/15/07	212	Tea drinkers, rejoice! A new tea stand, Joy of Tea opened last week in Epcot's World Showcase at the China pavilion. Offering eight hot and iced teas ($3.79), non-alcoholic and alcoholic tea-based frozen slushes ($4.29-$5.99), Chinese beers ($4.79), plum wine ($4.49), plus green tea and caramel ginger ice creams ($2.99), we're sure a few of you will be adding a new favorite snack stop to your Epcot itineraries.

5/16/07	256	Disney has expanded it's Fairy Tale Wedding Services to include commitment ceremonies for gay and lesbian couples. This service will now be available at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and onboard the Disney Cruise Line. (Previously the services of the Fairy Tale wedding planners were only available to guests planning a legal marriage ceremony. Neither California or Florida currently offers marriage licenses to same sex couples.) Quinceañera parties, the traditional Latin coming-of-age celebration for 15-year-old girls, are now available at the Walt Disney World Resort. 5/14/07	259	The prices for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party have increased. Normal Adult admission is now $41.49 and Child is $35.10 (this includes tax) and Admission on Halloween (Wednesday, 10/31/07) is now $48.94 per adult and $42.55 per child (this includes tax.) Tickets are now on sale for this summer's Pirate & Princess Party (August 11, 15, 18, 21, 24, 28, 31 and September 3) as well as for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (September 14, 21, 28, and 30, October 4, 5, 8, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 30, 31 and November 2) and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (November 12, 15, 16, 25, 27, 29, 30 and December 2, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, and 21).
