Disney Changes Reservation Policies

PassPorter Readers: This bulletin updates pages 28-29 of your book.

Effective June 20, 1999, reservations for Walt Disney World resorts now require a deposit within two weeks (14 days) if your stay is more than a month away. Prior to this, a deposit was due within three weeks (21 days) of the time you booked your resort stay. If your stay is less than a month away, a deposit is required at the time of booking. Apparently you may request a 24-hour courtesy hold while you make a decision, however. If you do not have a credit card to pay the deposit, you will be required to overnight a check. Note that if your vacation is less than a month away, you may also be required to pay the full amount immediately.

In addition to the new deposit policies, the cancellation policy has changed from 72 hours to five days. You must now cancel any resort reservations at least five days in advance to avoid charges.

Please note that these policies do not affect reservations made prior to June 20, 1999. If you call Disney and modify your reservation in any way, however, it will be subject to the new reservation policies.

We will post more information about these changes as we discover it.
