General
Update
The building names at
the Polynesian changed on 10/28/99. This change was made
to bring the layout of the buildings in line with the
actual geographic locations of the islands. See below for
the list.
Rooms (&
Layout) Update
Smoking buildings are now
Tuvalu (was Samoa), Samoa (was Hawaii), Fiji, and the
third floor of Hawaii (was Tonga). All others are
non-smoking.
Food (Dining & Lounging)
Update

Recreation (Playing &
Relaxing) Update
The Poly has a new theme pool with
a smoking volcano. The new pool features a zero-entry, hot water jets,
underwater music, and a great slide. Alas, there is still no hot tub,
however.
The Polynesian Luau has changed! New times and days, plus Mickey's
Tropical Luau is gone. The Luau itself (food and dancing)
is much as it was. Click the link above for the details.
Transportation (Getting
About) Update
Bus transportation is
shared by the Wilderness Lodge and the Grand Floridian,
meaning all outbound buses stop at the Grand Floridian to
pick up/drop off guests before going on to a park and all
inbound buses stop at the Wilderness Lodge to pick
up/drop off guests before returning to the Polynesian.

Resort Map Update
Here is a list of old
building names and new building names at the Polynesian
Resort:
Bali Hai --> Tonga
Tahiti --> Aotearoa
Fiji --> Fiji
Samoa --> Tuvalu
Tonga --> Hawaii
Hawaii --> Samoa
Bora Bora --> Niue
Maori --> Rarotonga
Oahu --> Tokelau
Moorea --> Tahiti
Pago Pago --> Rapa Nui
Best Locations Update
We still recommend the
third floor of Aotearoa (was Tahiti), facing the
monorail, if you don't have a water view. We've had two
great rooms there!
