0 | La Hacienda de San Angel will be hosting a special New Year's Eve dinner beginning at 9:00 pm on December 31, 2010. The party includes a six-course meal and live entertainment. The price is $199 per adult (age 10+) plus tax and gratuity and $49.94 plus tax and gratuity per child (ages 3 - 9). Alcohol pairings are also available for an additional $26 per adult. Beth is also the creator of the popular fragrance, foreverlily. A portion of the proceeds of foreverlily go to the Golden Phoenix Foundation, whose mission it is to end child abandonment worldwide.

The scanners allow remote viewers (not the TSA agents at the security checkpoint) to view an outline of the scanee's body. The agent viewing the scan cannot see the scanees face or identity. Agents at the checkpoint do not have access to the scan. Guest who "opt out" of the scan are subject to a thorough pat-down. For more information, check out the TSA web site.
- 2010-11-16 11:11:48 [update] | 20 | A planned high-speed rail corridor to connect Tampa and Orlando has received the final part of its funding. Construction of the 84-mile track, mainly along I-4, is scheduled to begin in 2012 and anticipated to finish in 2015. This high-speed option would cut the duration of the train ride from 90 minutes to 44 minutes. The plans call for five stations on the route, including Orlando International Airport, Walt Disney World near the intersections of US 192, I-4, and Osceola Parkway; and downtown Tampa.

They received a special reception at the airport, were greeted by Mickey Mouse, presented with a gift basket and rode a private motor coach to their resort, the Polynesian, to begin their vacation. Disney's Magical Express is the free airport transportation service open to guests at Disney-owned resorts at Walt Disney World.

AAA annually reviews over more than 60,000 lodging establishments and rates them on a scale of one to five diamonds.

The rooms will not be available through the "Name Your Own Price" program but only through the traditional booking engine on the site. The 1,984 room resort will have 1,120 one-bedroom family suites that sleep up to six people (Woo-hoo!) and 864 traditional rooms. The resort is being built on a plot of land originally intended to be the second phase of Disney's Pop Century Resort. The resort will be divided into four sections each featuring a theme from a Disney animated classic - The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. The resort is expected to open by the end of 2012.

Ana Rosa admitted to attaching swipers to the front desk computers which scanned the card numbers for use later. The activity potentially affected guests at the resort from September 2009 through early January 2010.

This means that if you are planning an upcoming trip or contemplating the purchase of an Annual Pass, now would be the time to buy! A single-day, single-park adult Magic Your Way Ticket increases to $87.33 (including tax), a $3.19 increase. The Magic Your Way Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More options each went from $55.38 to $57.51, also about a 4% increase. A basic adult Annual Pass went from $521 to $531.44, again, up about 4%, and the adult Premium Annual Pass went from $659 to $669.89. The only dramatic percentage increase was on the shorter-duration Magic Your Way Tickets with the No Expiration Option. That option went up over 20% ($4) on a two-day ticket (to $23.43), but only 2% on a ten-day ticket ($226.85).

The Captains package has been discontinued. Costumes and other items may be available a la carte. The fire had been extinguished by the sprinkler system. No injuries were reported.
- 2011-01-17 08:01:13 [update] | 138 | Walt Disney World has announced the official groundbreaking for the (previously announced) expansion of Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Scheduled for completion in 2013, this will be the largest expansion of Magic Kingdom since its opening.
- 2010-03-04 12:30:55 [update] | 138 | The Walt Disney World Resort announced on July 18 some significant changes coming to Fantasyland as part of the previously announced Fantasyland expansion. Snow White's Scary Adventure will be closing and be replaced by a Princess Meet and Greet area called Princess Fairytale Hall. Goofy's Barnstormer is getting a new look featuring Goofy as "The Great Goofini." And a brand new coaster attraction, The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, will feature a first-of-its-kind ride system with ride vehicles that swing back and forth as they move along the track. The previously announced "next-generation" princess and fairy meet-and-greets have been canceled, with the exception of Belle's (from Beauty and the Beast).

No reason was given for the name change, though a "back story" for the carrousel was revealed. We're guessing the name change will make more sense once the expansion of Fantasyland is complete.
- 2010-06-01 12:06:05 [update] | 138 | Beginning October 15, 2010, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from the upcoming Disney film "Tangled," will be appearing in the Magic Kingdom's Fairytale Garden. This experience will replace the "Storytime with Belle" show, which will end on September 12, 2010.
- 2010-08-03 09:08:52 [update] | 139 | The 120-ton tree that was home to Pooh's Playful Spot in the Magic Kingdom has been relocated in Fantasyland. The tree will be re-purposed as part of the Fantasyland expansion and will eventually be used to connect "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" attraction to the new Fantasyland Forest. - 2010-05-18 12:05:04 [update] | 139 | The newly renovated attraction, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, is now open in the Magic Kingdom. The attraction features a re-designed loading area as well as a re-designed gift shop, Hundred Acre Goods. The loading area is still under construction with new, interactive features to ease the wait, so for now, guests load through the Fastpass queue. For this reason, no Fastpasses are available at this time.
- 2010-11-16 08:11:40 [update] | 141 | Toontown Fair in the Magic Kingdom will close on February 11, 2011 to make room for the expansion of Fantasyland. Mickey, Minnie and friends will continue to meet guests at temporary locations on Main Street, U.S.A. until the Spring when they will move into a permanent location inside the Town Square Exposition Hall. Tinker Bell will move to Disney's Hollywood Studios where she will great guests at the Chronicles of Narnia Meet & Greet area.

- 2010-03-18 22:55:54 [update] | 144 | Walt Disney World has announced that the Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland Transit Authority (often known as TTA) has been re-named the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. Everything old is new again, as the attraction was originally known as the WEDway PeopleMover (WED Enterprises was then the name for Walt Disney Imagineering).

- 2010-08-17 16:08:25 [update] | 150 | Duffy the Disney Bear is an existing character at Tokyo DisneySea but will be making his US debut at Epcot and Disney California Adventure on October 14, 2010 during Grand Opening ceremonies. The story goes that Duffy is a teddy bear given to Mickey Mouse by Minnie Mouse to keep him company on a long sea voyage. Duffy will make appearances at Epcot in his very own meet area greet area near Showcase Plaza.

The exhibit features a variety of data centers at which guests can play a game designed to show how IBM technology is used to solve problems, and others where guests can create an avatar of themselves and then use the avatar in a video game. IBM is one of Innoventions' original sponsors, having been a sponsor continually since Innoventions opened in 1994.

Originally shown from 1986-1994, Captain EO was revived earlier this year at Disneyland Park, and will also open at Disneyland Paris Park on June 12 and Tokyo Disneyland Park on June 30. Honey, I Shrunk the Audience will go on hiatus, but is expected to return "eventually."
- 2010-04-28 14:04:34 [update] | 157 | The classic Captain EO film starring Michael Jackson -- which originally ran at Epcot in the 80s and 90s -- returned to the Imagination Pavilion at Epcot on July 2. The film will run for a limited time, though the end date has not yet been announced. Captain EO was directed by George Lucas and stars Angelica Huston in addition to Michael Jackson.

Kodak continues to have a relationship with the Walt Disney World Resort through their sponsorship of "Mickey's Philharmagic" in the Magic Kingdom and the 50 "Kodak Picture Spots" located through the US Disney parks.
- 2010-09-14 12:09:24 [update] | 159 | Karamelle-Kuche, German for Caramel Kitchen, will open this fall in Epcot's Germany pavilion in the space that currently houses Glas und Porzellan. The shop, sponsored by Storck - the makers of Werther's Caramels, will offer freshly made caramel apples, caramel popcorn, and caramel-dipped treats such as apples and marshmallows. It will also sell fudge, brownies and other baked good and packaged candies.
- 2010-06-15 10:06:16 [update] | 161 | A new exhibit is now in place in the Japan Pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase. Spirit Beasts: From Ancient Stories to Anime Stars features characters from Japanese myth as well as their modern day Anime counterparts.
- 2010-07-19 10:07:40 [update] | 167 | The Walt Disney Company has sold the rights to the Power Rangers back to the creator, Haim Saban. There is no word on how long the Power Rangers will continue to make appearances at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

There is no news on what new restaurants and shops will be present, but Disney promises an "electric wonderland" once night falls. Other changes announced for Downtown Disney include an expansion of the Lego Imagination Center at Downtown Disney Marketplace, enhancements to the AMC theaters at Downtown Disney West Side, and additional "atmosphere entertainment."

- 2010-04-27 12:04:01 [update] | 999 | Art Linkletter, the Master of Ceremonies for Disneyland's Opening Day in 1955 (among many other things), passed away on May 26, 2010 at the age of 97. Art was inducted as a Disney Legend in 2005. Rest in peace, Art.
- 2010-05-27 16:05:46 [update] | 999 | A newlywed couple looking through their childhood photos discovered that a photo of the bride as a toddler also contained the groom ... being pushed in a stroller in the background! The bride and groom had crossed paths 20 years prior to actually meeting, and they had, in fact, grown up in entirely different countries! Talk about some Disney magic. See the photo here!
- 2010-06-10 16:06:54 [update] | 999 | Steven Snyder, an electrician, died last week after being shocked while working near an electrical transformer at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. OSHA (the Occupational Safety & Health Administration) is investigating the accident. Our sympathy goes to his family and friends.
