  Beforehand: Wednesday, September 29, 1999

We have an America Online book project deadline to meet today, which we manage to complete a few hours ahead of schedule. This leaves us free to prepare for our trip by making sure our PassPorter was up-to-date and had all the necessary items in it. (Ah, you have no idea how nice it is to just take a brand-new PassPorter off the shelf and use it instead of making a new one by hand, as I had in the old days.) We also printed out various research materials we wanted to have with us, and transferred all necessary files to our ever-present laptop. I really wanted to get to sleep early this evening, knowing I'd have a full day at Disney. Alas, I didn't get to bed until 1 am (and I had to be up by 4 am in time to make the flight). Every trip I promise myself I'll get to sleep early, and every trip I stay up too late making sure I'm prepared to go. I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with this problem, though.

One other thing I did to prepare for this trip was to gather all my Disney pins together for pin trading. About a week before the trip, I purchased a Winnie the Pooh organizer at OfficeMax for about $25 and some stiffened felt at my local craft store (Michael's). I cut felt squares 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 (so they would fit in the organizer) and then punched them like I would a piece of paper (so they would fit in the rings). I then organized my collection of Disney pins onto the various pieces of felt in the organizer. It worked great and let me store and view my pin collection without having to rummage in a box.

So with my bags packed, my PassPorter ready to go, and too many thoughts in my head, I attempted to sleep. I think I finally drifted off at 1:30 am... much too late!
