Fans of "the Mouse" flock to the Internet to ferret-out the latest news, exchange advice and views, and share their passion for all things Disney. This is not just a matter of glitzy commercial web sites hawking travel deals (although there are plenty of those), or Disney's official site
(http://www.disneyworld.com). We're talking about hundreds of "fan" web sites, focusing on any aspect of Walt Disney World you can imagine, and some beyond your imaginings. For wide-ranging, clearly presented information for vacation planners visit AllEarsNet: Deb's Unofficial Walt Disney World Information Guide (http://www.allears.net). Steve Soare's Walt Disney World Entertainment site (http://pages.prodigy.net/stevesoares/) does Disney's site one better by listing every live event in the parks. Bargain hunters have fallen in love with http://www.mousesavers.com, an exhaustive listing of all sorts of deals. The Web also hosts http://www.passporter.com, companion site to the popular PassPorter Walt Disney World travel guide (PassPorter Travel Press, 1-877-WAYFARER). The central focus here is on planning, and the authors supplement the print edition with reports on the latest Disney doings so their book effectively never goes out-of-date. Web sites are only the tip of the iceberg. Message boards, e-mail discussion lists, and live chat events draw thousands of fans. If you have a question someone is sure to have the answer, and if Disney closes a ride for repairs the word spreads around the world in a matter of hours. The big Kahuna of discussion groups is the Unofficial Disney Information Station at http://www.disboards.com (better known simply as "DISboards." The PassPorter community at http://www.passporterboards.com is also very popular, and offers a warm, friendly environment for Disney fans of varying degrees of interest. Vacationers on a budget adore the TheMouseForLess discussion group at http://www.themouseforless.com. Looking for more Internet resources for Walt Disney World? The PassPorter Walt Disney World guidebook offers an index of over 95 tried-and-true Disney- and travel-related Web sites, with many more sprinkled throughout the book. PassPorter guidebooks are available in bookstores and over the phone (1-877-WAYFARER). And, of course, you can order PassPorters on the Internet at http://www.passporter.com.
