Mystery Photo Contest - Enter to win an iPad or PassPorter Gift Certificate - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Mystery Photo Contest - Enter to win an iPad or PassPorter Gift Certificate
Win an Apple iPad Loaded with PassPorter Books or PassPorter Gift Certificates
Did you know PassPorter books can be downloaded and read on an Apple iPad? Play and enter our ongoing Mystery Photo Contest and you'll have a chance to win your own Apple iPad which you can load with every current PassPorter edition for free and/or win a PassPorter Gift Certificate to purchase e-books or travel guides!
To enter our Mystery Photo Contest, simply collect as many contest entry tickets as you can by finding and identifying the mystery photos in the PassPorter Photo Archive. Each day a new mystery photo will be posted -- when you locate and identify the photo in the photo archive, you receive a contest entry ticket. Contest entry tickets can be collected on PassPorter.com beginning January 31, 2013 at 12:01 am ET. Weekly Prizes (PassPorter gift certificates) are awarded every Monday morning, and the Grand Prizes (Apple iPad loaded with PassPorter books) are awarded every four months.
The Weekly Prize is randomly selected from all entry tickets obtained during the preceeding seven days. The Grand Prize winning ticket is randomly selected from all entry tickets obtained during the preceeding four months. Please see our contest rules at the bottom of this page for more details.
Want Extra Tickets? Bonus tickets will be awarded to the TOP FIVE fastest individuals who find each mystery photo. Additionally, everyone can earn extra bonus tickets via social media, such as Facebook or Pinterest! Watch for details.
Each day we will post at least one new Mystery Photo at our PassPorter Photo Archive (near the top of the page). Your mission is to study the photo (what you can see of it, that is) and then locate the photo in the Photo Archive. When you find the correct photo, you'll see a small iPad icon appear on the photo's page -- click it to save your iPad entry ticket. It's that simple!
Here's an example of a Mystery Photo ...
If the above image were an actual mystery photo, you would want to look carefully at the photo -- and as you can see, it is a photo of fireworks at the Magic Kingdom, because you can identify Cinderella Castle at the bottom. So your next step would be to go to the PassPorter Photo Archive and either search on 'firework' or simply begin browing the Magic Kingdom - Parades, Shows, and Fireworks section. Without too much trouble, you would eventually spot, match, and identify the photo as being Magic Kingdom - Wishes Fireworks. Then you'd simply locate the iPad Photo icon and click it to save your entry ticket! Here's what the iPad Photo icon looks like:
Important: You must be a registered member of the PassPorter community (it's free and easy to register) -- and logged into the PassPorter Photo Archive -- to save a contest entry ticket. If your member name has unusual characters in it, particularly an apostrophe, you may have difficulty logging in -- the only solution is to change your member name to remove the apostrophe. To request a member name change, please send a PM to Jennifer Marx
Tip: Mystery photos will be posted daily, but some or all will disappear after a certain amount of time, so you'll want to check frequently. Additionally, some mystery photos may appear elsewhere on our web site, and if you spot one of those and locate it in our Photo Archive, you can get bonus entry tickets. Keep a close eye on our blogs, message boards, newsletter, and Facebook pages for clues and hints that lead to bonus photos!
Click here to read the full contest description and rules (and please note that this contest is open only to U.S. and Canadian (excluding Quebec) residents age 18 and older due to sweepstakes rules and taxation laws of other countries).
Please note: I apologize in advance for any site slowdowns we experience during the contest. I've made a number of improvements to the site in an effort to increase speed during high traffic periods (such as contests like this), but I cannot be sure how well they work until we actually get high traffic. If you experience slowdowns or page errors, I recommend you visit again at off-peak hours. Thank you in advance for your patience.
Note: You may look for/ask for hints from your fellow community members here and on PassPorter's Facebook page, but please look first before asking for a hint. If you find the mystery photo, you're welcome to post hints, but please refrain from simply linking the photo here -- that just takes the fun out of it. You are, however, welcome and encouraged to "like" the photo on your Facebook page (you can simply click the "Like" button you'll see below the iPad Contest icon) or Pin It to your Pinterest page to tell your friends where you found it.
Please use this thread to post questions and tips for one another, and watch it for hints and announcements from PassPorter.
I'm so excited for this contest again! I'm usually a lurker here on the boards (for the past two years), but I get so excited to hunt for these photos...even if I don't win! This will surely help pass the time until our first family trip in September!
