Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

The Chiropractor
My best friend is utterly addicted to the chiropractor, it's like her new religion. She dragged me to this chiropractor dinner where they offered me a free evaluation, and she was so eager for me to go, I signed up. I have *never* considered going to a chiropractor but she really has exhibited some recent health benefits, so I figured what the heck. I showed up and the office was very busy and friendly with each other. I was filling out my paperwork and looked over to this guy who was getting "adjusted" and it scared the $#!+ out of me. I was paralyzed just looking over there, praying the receptionist lady wouldn't call my name. Then Laurie comes in! I didn't even know she'd be there. She's seriously there every 2 minutes it seems, and she goes in for her appointment. DH called my cell wanting to know where the cat food was (still in my car) so I was :ding: saved by the bell and rescheduled.
Have you ever been? It looks freaky. I have fear. I'm supposed to go back Monday.

Re: The Chiropractor
I'm definitely the wrong person to ask. I went once, and the guy scared me so bad reefing around on my head and pretzeling me up that I will have to be bent over backwards with the back of my head touching my heels before I go back to another one. And even then, I will probably just pretend I'm doing the Limbo and live with it.

Re: The Chiropractor
My brother's wife goes religiously, and I know plenty of people that swear by them, but I have no desire. I think you'll be fine though, Rachel, if you decide to go back.

Re: The Chiropractor
I went to one in high school after I suffered a terrible hair flipping injury (no, REALLY! Cervical collar and everything! ) and he really helped. I went to another one after my ex whacked me the wrong way and he really helped. I went to one here through my whole pregnancy w/ DD3 (ahhhhhhh ), but stopped b/c we had no insurance anymore DH hurt his back about 6 years ago (NOT a good thing for a self-employed mason to do) and the chiropractor he went to was a God-send. He didn't do the whole cracking thing, but used a thingy called an "activator". Literally cured DH (who was barely able to crawl on hands and knees) in less than 3 weeks, he was back on the job (pun intended!) Last year, I wrenched something just before our WDW trip and went to one here and he had me feeling soooo much better in 2 visits. If funds were unlimited, I would go regularly. I feel better, I move better, etc. I personally LOVE the neck crack...it's an "ahhhhhh" moment for me, but it is VERY hard to just relax and let it go. Believe me, you'll be sore for a few days if you don't! I can understand where they are coming from with all the "subluxation" and such, but I don't care...for me, it just feels good to crack it all out and streeeeetch!!!

Re: The Chiropractor
I go and it really helps. My chiropractor is very helpful (I have an old work related back injury) and makes the pain go away! One of the reasons I like going to him is because he doesn't practice beyond his medical ability. In other words, if it is a medical/neurological problem, he will send you to the appropriate physician/facility. (He has even called 911 from his office for people that showed up with problems that needed immediate emergent care.)
My friend sees a different chiropractor who doesn't believe in medical care at all, and I think it has harmed his back more than helped it. I think if you find a good chiropractor that you are comfortable with, you will see the benefits!

Re: The Chiropractor
I've been many times...but not recently. I've been helped tremendously by the adjustments. My chiropractor uses a little "thumper" thing to adjust the vertebrae...doesn't "crack" like some do. It's very gentle...and actually feels really good to me.

Re: The Chiropractor
I've been and my sister is one of those who should get frequent flyer miles.
I went after I hurt my back on May 14, 2004. I was in pain until July 2, 2004. After I went to my dr and got pain and muscle meds, which did nothing but make me delirious, I went to a local chiropractor. It was wonderful. I'd go again if I hurt myself again.
Now my sister went to some other kind of chiro in Hawaii, as she has sciatic nerve problems. The kind where she could not get out of bed. She went for three years. Loved it.
She did not find one in Michigan that she likes, but she's still looking.
I know some people continue going, but I'm not in pain, so I don't anymore.

Re: The Chiropractor
I have been and they can really help or hurt. The key is to find one you are comfortable with and that you trust. It is a personal choice. The times I have gone they have really helped my back as that is where I really carry my stress. I have had to go to PT for various reasons and they are my chiropractors. Many times massage can help as well. Good luck! I think you will be fine if you go.

Re: The Chiropractor
I heard it's a cult.
I've been, but only because I worked with one of those chiropractor groupie types that it. It didn't hurt me, but I don't think it helped all that much either.
Beware of stalkers, btw.
