As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What do you scrap???
What kinds of things do you scrapbook?
Your children, family, vacations?
Do you keep a scrapbook for each year? Or just special events?

Re: What do you scrap???
Up until now, it's just been Disney vacations, but now I'm branching out and doing one to celebrate DMIL's 60th birthday.

Re: What do you scrap???
I have a bit of everything going, but I make a point to scrap Christmas each year (I'm on my 2nd CM album after 10 years) in which I include our Christmas card and Christmas postage stamps.
I have our wedding album that DH and I did together. I did an album of our house, but haven't updated it yet with all the remodeling we've done. Our house was DH's grandparents', so we had some original photos that were neat to include. DH did what he calls his "Dawn Album" of pics that my mom had given him of me through the years, it's cute; DD's really love that one, lots of for mom! I did a 5x7 of our gardens one year.
I plan to do each Disney trip (2 down, umpteen to go! ) and I have running albums of each DD, although the 6yo is still 3 and the 8yo is still 5 Guess I have some work to do there! My mom had already done the older 2 DDs and now they are old enough to work on their own. I've been trying to do one "main" album of various trips and events, but that one is at the bottom of my stack

Re: What do you scrap???
So far only vacation albums (one WDW and one California), but right now I'm doing a graduation album for DD. I'm really having fun with it as it has been a long time since I've looked at all of DD's pictures.

Re: What do you scrap???
I have two books that are constantly being worked on. I have a book for just things that my DH and I do. I have a general book that is just a hodge podge of stuff. I am working on my mom's scarpbook right now. I have a scrapbook for the past two trips to WDW and one from Vegas.

Re: What do you scrap???
The only ones I have COMPLETELY FINISHED are the Disney ones. I'm almost caught up with the kids school albums. In those I usually do a "Back to School" page for each year, a double layout with their class picture, their portrait picture, and then some other candids of their friends at school. I might do another layout if something special happens during the year. Oh, and at the front of the album, I've got a single page with a wallet size portrait from each year. I just keep adding to that. So when they're finsihed, you have a single layout and can see how they really changed over all those years.

Re: What do you scrap???
The first scrapbook I did was of DD from birth to first birthday. I also have running scrapbooks broke up in to seasons. Spring, which has Easter & DD's birthday (April 1st) Summer which includes our yard as DH and I love to garden, Fourth of July & camping, Fall which includes back to school, Halloween & Thanksgiving and Winter which is all Christmas and a few New Years layouts. I put any other layouts of DD that I do in the season they happened.
I also have a house album that has layouts of before and after of our remodeling and anything that happens with the house like the time lighting struck the tree in our front yard and dropped it. And also I have a scrapbook of black and white photos I have taken of DD (when I was into that) that only has about eight pages done.
Then I have the Disney trip scrapbooks. I am working on number four from last months trip.
And I have a scrapbook for DD's school years that I haven't even started!
Last year I also did a scrapbook of DIL's 50th and my next door neighbors wedding.
Holy Scrap! No wonder I spend so much time in my scraproom! But at least my DH doesn't mind the time I spend doing it. It keeps me from nagging him for spending his down time playing computer games!

Re: What do you scrap???
Currently, I'm working on a scrapbook from our cruise last September. I also have a Christmas album I update each year. Last year, I also made a pet album, scrapped one of my trips to Disney, did a book for my nephew's first year and made my dad an album from when he was in the Navy.
It's fun to have different projects to work on.

Re: What do you scrap???
My 2004 Disney trip is the only album that is 'finished'. I have another one with our annual BBQ, Halloween and Christmas, and a trip to Niagara Falls and up to Maine (this will be our "family" book eventually). And, I have one for DD with her dancing pictures and that kind of stuff, and I stared one for each of the kids (3) to have their own from our Disney trip, and I have a few pages done for DS#1 for Scouts, AND I started to put together one for my grandmother with her (old) family pictures . . . I've got to get some of this finished, I guess!!!

Re: What do you scrap???
My favorite thing to scrap is our Disney vacations, but I also have one from our years of dating as well as a wedding scrapbook. I also keep scrapbooks of my niece and nephews until our own little one's come along!

Re: What do you scrap???
Here are my albums in progress:
Vacation album (any family vacation or trip other than WDW; one is finished but I'm on 2001 in volume II)
Christmas album (one is finished and I'm on 2000 in volume II)
European album (any trip overseas; my Ireland trip from 1991 is done, but I have to start on Germany, 1996)
Disney album (the name says it all; I'm currently working on our 2002 trip)
God-child album (small album; pages are decorated, just need to add photos; this was done with a SnapPack)
Sorority album (photos are organized and stacked on top of the album)
I also have plans to do a family album with old family photos, a theatre album with photos from the plays my familly and I have been in, and, of course, I need to do an album for each child. The photos for these are organized in a PowerSort box, but who knows when they will make it into an album! I keep telling my DH that I need to quit work so I can scrapbook, but he just doesn't understand!!!
