As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Anyone Willing to Share?
I would write one, but I never seem to finish... due to me living so close to DLR, I am thinking of popping up there for my Birthday in a few weeks just to see Fantasmic! and then come home, so maybe a small one for that...

Re: Anyone Willing to Share?
I just returned from my first ever Disneyland trip with my significant other. The wonderful man was such a trooper, we went regardless of how sick he was. Some guys are just fabulous!
Anyway, we got to the park around 9:30am on New Years Day *yes imagine the crowds* and got a park hopper so we could fly back and forth between DL and Cali Adventure. The morning started out nice and sunny but turned into windy and extremely cold by the night.
I have to resort to my journal on the day so I will post it when I have it infront of me!
Now Im back in the snow ridden lands of Ontario...oh ick. Cold. I'd take Cali cold over this any day

OK, now the pressure is on...hehehe!
I plan on doing a kindof highlight report...what we did, what we liked, but in short format. Maybe throw in a couple pics if I can get them to download...I am computer challenged, you know .

Re: Anyone Willing to Share?
DebiDebiDebi, I was thinking the same thing. Most of the folks here on PPB go to WDW. It kind of makes us westcoasties left out sometimes huh.
Well, I already shared my October trip. But I think I'm narrowing down my 2006 trip. It will be in Feburary, that I know for sure. Either before or after Presidents weekend that's a must. Definately an all girls trip. It will be at the Paradise Pier Hotel and OOOOOOO the best part, my complimentary upgrade to a suite.
I wish I could go now, I could really use a Disneyland fix after the last stressful 10 days I went through. But, I have to wait so let the planning begin.

Ya, we never get enough attention! DLR is so much better then WDW! Why do people bother with huge copies (like MK) when they could do an awesome original? :whew: Sorry, it's just WDW ticks me off... MK especially...

Re: Anyone Willing to Share?
We'll have a report after our July trip--and Fantasmic Kid I totally agree with you--we had a great time at WDW, but it sort of felt like a big copy of DL, especially MK...

Re: Anyone Willing to Share?
DH and I have a trip planned to DL...we're going for about a week at the end of February (doing DL and Universal...four or five days, staying at Paradise Pier the whole time), and we're meeting up with Terri (Dr. Dolphin) while we're there.
So it looks like the trip reports are coming...you just had to get us all out of the woodwork Debbie!
And while I'm here - would like to wish all of my fellow California residents luck in staying dry the next couple of days. It's depressing to see the forecast continually predicting rain!!

ToT Event May 2004
My husband and I splurged on the Tower of Terror Event May 2004. It was expensive, but I just LOVED it. They had a party with a 1940s band, decent drinks and food, and games to play. Of course we were able to go on the ride also.
The morning of the event we went over to one of the conference rooms at the DL hotel to pick up our package (paperwork + free goodies) and some pre-ordered merchandise.
The goodies consisted of some pins and a coupon book. The book was good for one gift at the end of the night and tickets for playing the games. The games were the type of games you would see at a school carnival. The prizes were pins of the fab 5. The gift at the end of the night was a ToT mantel clock.
There were unlimited drinks (alcoholic/nonalcoholic), unlimited finger food, and unlimited desserts. They had cast members dressed up as hotel employees mingling with the guest - quite a few of them. One poor cast member was carrying a potted plant all night. Lots of interaction with the guests. Several cast members posed as reporters and did some mock interviews with guests. In the drinks, they added red glowing ice cubes (lit by an small light) - very cool.
All of the cast members loved ToT and you could tell by their attitude. They were in such great spirits.
There was a band and dancing. The event was open to a limited number (300?) for 2 hours, and then they opened it up to another group of people for a few more hours. For the second group of people, they could only get drinks/food with coupons. The difference between the two groups was the cost of you fee - I can't remember any more what they were.
The event started when DCA closed and we left 4 hours later!
I loved it so much that I have been eyeballing the Indiana Jones event.

However, this isn't something I can afford to do very often, but I hope I can do another one in my lifetime!

This is great to hear because DD went on TOT 4X at WDW. She is most definitely looking forward to this one as well.
