As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The entire structure of the packages has changed so much, that it either accomodates those who may not have been able to go before (which of course if good) and the very rich. The people who fall in the middle have to either take the lesser option and do all this extra planning and such or take the Premium level and pay more than we ever wanted to.
They have taken away the Dinner Shows as a table service restaurant and made it a "premium" type of thing, which means I have to pay out of pocket for them or again, order the package that is really more than I want to spend.
I found that I can, of course keep my Silver Plan trip but there will be NO FURTHUR DISCOUNTS on the old plans (of course I figured there would be because there always is). So I have to pay full price basically of the Silver Plan or pick one of the new options and either don't get what I want or pay WAY MORE than what I was paying for Silver Plan.
I had the whole trip basically planned, with restaurants, times and everything and now I have to decide if I want to reschedule the entire trip.
Oh, plus a not so nice feature, they NO LONGER have Length of Stay Tickets for over 7 days. So I have to buy 2 days separate for 3 adults. Boy won't that be MORE expensive than my original LOS passes I was getting with my Dreammaker plan. Why in the WORLD would they take away LOS passes for people staying for more than 7 days. It's almost like it became UNfriendly for those who can stay longer. I just don't understand this thinking at all.
I have a fabulous TA at Mouseears, and it's certainly not her fault but I told her how frustrated and disappointed I am.
Well, I guess it's back to the drawing board and starting from scratch. I really will need the new Passporter soon as I can't erase any more on my itinerary pages.
I am totally lost as to what you are talking about. It seems as if part of your post is missing.
Why don't you post what your itenary is, your resort booked, how many days, how you are travelling, tickets, and the cost, time of year, etc. and maybe some of the seasoned veterans of this board will be able to figure something out for you.
I assume you are complaining about the the new Magic Your Way tickets and packages?
I understand what you're saying. The Magic Your Way passes really only go up to 7-days. If you are staying for over 7-days you have to buy separate tickets. From what I've heard this is true, but there has to be a way to get around this. Hopefully someone who knowsmore about these new tickets can come on here and help you out soon!
When are you going? I just talked to Karen at Your Magical Journey, and also to the Platinum Plan Planner that is assigned to us.
They both said that there are 2 things confusing people:
1. ALL PLANS that are already booked will be honored
2. There are so many NEW CMs and so many changes, there is a lot of mis-information being given out.
I just probably didn't explain it well enough. I have Dream Maker with Silver Plan. Every single year for who knows how many years, my travel agent has always been able to get discounts on the packages.
Because of the new structure. Even if I keep my Dream Maker with Silver Plan (which Disney will honor as it's already been booked), Disney will no longer give discounts on rooms for that plan anymore. So I'm out that discount that I was fairly certain I'd get.
If I switch to a the new MYW plan, I LOSE a table service meal a day as well as the fact that they took the Dinner Shows away as a regular Table service meal. AND they no longer have Length of Service tickets any more. You can only purchase Length of Service tickets up to 7 days. After that you have to buy individual tickets for the other days you will be staying, which is very expensive to do it that way.
We are staying Nov 7th - 15th at Wilderness Lodge. Even if we switch to the MYW Plus Dining. We go down to one table service, and get one counter service and one snack. If we pay for 2 dinner shows (we were planning on 3), and we pay for Disney Quest individually and we pay for some extra restuarant meals, we will be paying MORE than we would have under the DreamMaker at FULL price and getting LESS for our money. We'll also have to cancel our Cirque du Soliel (as that was in our packages).
Or we can pay a really outrageous price for the premium add on and get WAY to MUCH food.
I was just saying they have forced us in a corner. And why they don't have LOS anymore past 7 days is beyond me.

There is a 10 day MYW pass available for only a few dollars more than the 7 day.

Really? Cause my Travel Agent just emailed me to say there was not. She went to that training thing as well.
It worries me that nobody REALLY knows what's going on. I guess they'll figure it all out before I go in November..or I can hope!

I was just pricing it at the WDW website and it showed a 10 day available..advance purchase, park hopping was $247.08 with tax, if you want no expiration, it was $353.58 with tax. On the main page it only had the option for a 7 day length of stay, but once you got to the ordering page, the 10 day is there.

Ok, I emailed her again and she said that is for Ticket Only, not in a Package deal with a room. She told me again, the LOS passes only go up to 7 days and that's the ones with Rooms.
She did say it's a mess right now and really hard to explain to customers.

Well, that's a shame b/c there are so many people planning trips and if no one knows for sure what's going on what are we to do. I am planning a trip for June and will be doing heavy planning within the next 2 months to get the trip payed off. Hopefully things will get straightened out soon. I hope you are able to work something out even if it means starting fresh with a diffrent approach. I know that know with the new tickets and packages I have a lot of investigating to do. I want to make sure I get the best price for what I want.

I completely understand what you are saying but if you already have these things planned and would end up paying more if you switched around than paying the full price for the Silver plan, instead of cancelling, wouldn't it be better to just stick with the Silver plan?
Although, I do understand what you are saying though, that it's basically meals only package or "lots of everything" package.
Seems to me the perfect package would have been the Silver package with 1 more wish per person (or maybe 1 snack) - so those that wanted to use it for meals could and those that wanted to split it between meals and a few other things could too. (OK, maybe that would have been perfect for my particular situation! LOL!).
Hope you're able to get everything figured out in the coming months. At least you have an Earmarked TA trained about the new package which will really be a great help to you.
ok......here is my 2 cents worth!! I don't know if it will make any sense but here goes!!!!!!!! Can't u possibly exchange 2 table service meals for one dinner show???? And why not cancel your trip and rebook things separately??? That way you can get your 10 passes as a stand alone ?????
These new passes are so confusing! Like Kathy said, would it be at all possible for you to book things seperately? You;ll probably get the best deal that way...
Are you saying you can't buy a 10 day MYW ticket/package with the meal option? You can only buy up to a 7 day?
Can you ...
Buy the 10 day MYW PLUS ticket which includes 5 trips to the water parks, DISNEY QUEST, pleasure island, & WWOS
(or get a 7 day MYW PLUS ticket which also comes with 5 trips to the "specials" and just plan to spend a full day there?)
Add on the meal plan. It says you can exchange 2 sit down meals for a dinner show. You still would have 1 counter service meal for each of those 2 days.
If you can't get a 10 day ticket with a room package, I think you could still deal with a 7 day ticket with the PLUS options and spend more than 10 days at WDW.
But, if you want to do Cirque and 3 dinner shows, then maybe it is best to stick with the full price silver plan?
