Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

How Do I get There That Early?

I have 8:00AM PS's at Donald's Breakfastosaurus. How do I get from WL to AKL that early? Are the buses even running then?

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

You will be able to catch an early bus from the Wilderness Lodge that will get you to the Animal Kingdom in time for your priority seating. We had an 8:00 A.M. P.S. at Donald's last August and had no problem getting there from the Wilderness Lodge. Just check with the front desk at the W.L. for what time you can catch the A.K. breakfast bus.

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

It's really neat to see AK empty in the am. There will be a bunch of CM's right at the entrance (immediately after the turnstiles) waiting to take your name, and then you wait. They put you in bigger groups for the walk to Donald's and once there, your CM seats you and gets your beverages. I highly recommend this breakfast!! The food was yummy!

I'm pretty sure the buses to the parks start running at 7AM.

I agree! We've never had problems getting an early morning bus...in fact you will quite often find...you're not the only one from your resort with PS that early!

And if the CM tells you there isn't a bus, ask them to check with another CM or ask for a supv. When we checked into WL May 03, I asked about a bus from WL to MK for our early 8:10am PS for CRT and I was told that the buses don't run that early and we'd have to take a cab (or drive as we had our car). I wasn't hoping that this was wrong and I called down to the desk later in the day and the CM I spoke to told me that I had been misinformed and of course there was a bus that we get me there on time!

So just keep asking if they tell you no!

Have fun!!

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

Is this just for character breakfasts? If I want to do Boma, could I use this bus? You know, this is really interesting, I had wanted to do 1900 Park Fare at 7:30am, and when I called to book, they told me I'd have to get a cab (which would be hard because I need carseats). So I didn't book, they said I couldn't make ressie until 8:30 if relying on busses. Now I'm kind of mad.

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

Ok, now I just called back and scheduled a breakfast at 1900 Park Fare for 8:30. The CM again said I could not schedule anything before 9:00. I asked her about the Character Breakfast Bus and she said that "she's heard rumors about a bus, but she's confused about that"??? So, even though I wanted 8am, I booked for 8:30. Let me ask you all this. Since AK has EMH on the day we're doing this, could we get a bus to AK, then take a bus from AK to GF. Would they have busses back to the resorts that early, or would they figure that noone would be going in that direction so early. Do you think I could make it for 8:00?

HappyMommy - which resort are you staying? If it is a monorail resort you can monorail to GF on the resort monorail which starts running at 7am.

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

Happymommy, I have a link for you to read from the PSCalculator site (I also received the same info in his email newsletter recently and I just went crazy trying to remember where I read it LOL):

http://new.disneyecho.emuck.com/cgi-...ST;f=30;t=3007

It appears that you should be able to get where you have to go early. Now he does say "character breakfast" but I would think this would be for any PS. You may want to email Scott and see what he says.

When I mentioned in my above post about getting misinformation I was referring to the front desk staff at the WL. I'm surprised (and not so surprised) to hear that the CMs at WDW Dining don't know any better either.

Good luck!

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

I needed to get from PO-R to CSR at 7:00 a.m. to meet my sister and her family. We took the first park bus that came along. When we got to the park we then went to the CSR bus stop and took that bus. It took about 25 minutes.

Gooy'sGal, thanks for that info about buses for breakfasts!

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

Thanks everyone for your help. Actually for our first night we don't know where we're staying. We werent supposed to arrive until 8:30 the next morning (we're staying at WL), but our 6:20am flight was cancelled, and they told us we could switch to a flight the night before. Which I was actually happy about, but WL doesn't have availability that night, so we may have to stay at ASMo for our 1st night (the night before 1900 Park Fare). Hope that wasn't confusing... I've been up since 3am this morning and am pretty tired (but I really want to figure this out and change this ressie to 8am since my kids are up and hungry so early). Have a great weekend everybody, and thanks!!

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

If WL availability opens up, then you can just take the boat over to the Contemporary (it starts at 7 am), then take the resort monorail over to the Grand Floridian.

If you are at All-Stars, you will need to take a bus over to MK, then hop on the resort monorail to the Grand Floridian. If the Epcot bus came earlier, you could take it, and then the Epcot monorail to TTC, and then resort monorail to the GF.

Re: How Do I get There That Early?

If anyone else needs an answer to this, I just wanted to second what's been said already. I called WDW-Ride, and at first was told the Character Bus was cancelled a long time ago. She then double checked with her supervisor who told her, no there is a "Breakfast Bus." It stops periodically at all resorts. Be at the bus stop 45 minutes before the PS. And, as others have said, tell the bus driver where you are going, and he'll stop there for you.
