Forums Closed

As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Weekend Plans?
Not much going on in this end of the country. My youngest DD has a lacrosse game tomorrow, then a birthday party and on Sunday a soccer game. Looks like I'll be in the car most of the weekend

Re: Weekend Plans?
We have our yard sale tomorrow again and then I have some major packing to do!! I'm almost done though! I'm in the final stretch!! We move on June 1st, so I gotta get done soon!
Sunday I have to go to my Aunt's college graduation pinning ceremony. At the age of 40 she has finally received her bachelor's degree in nursing (the pinning ceremony is for her Nurse's pin). I'm so happy for her!!!! She's already celebrated by going to WDW this past week! (She's also addicted to Disney!). She'll be moving to Orlando as well probably early next year!
Alex will going to Knoebel's again this weekend (we went last weekend too). It's only 20 minutes away or so so he's going with Grandpa this time! He's very excited!

We are celebrating my daughter Emily's 3rd birthday (actually on Monday) with a swim party for family at Nana's. Otherwise, I am going to be begging DH to mow the lawn.

Re: Weekend Plans?
Just cleaning the house and watering all of the outside flowers/plants cause it's been hot as blazes and hasn't really rained in weeks. Wow, that sounds really boring !

Re: Weekend Plans?
Another crazy weekend here -
Just got home from night one of the dance recital - Sarah & Jennie were awesome!! Sarah danced one ballet dance, and one jazz dance - they were so cute! Jennie was in 5 - ballet, modern, jazz (hiphop), pointe, and another hiphop mini dance. Can't wait to get the video.
Amanda couldn't come, she had a softball game - they won 16 to 4!! She got the game ball - she is SOOO excited! She did an excellent job of catching, and had the best offensive game she's had all year - she hit a double, single and a triple!!! She even did all that with a possibly broken finger - she got hit with a bat - a lefty batter swung very late - and Amanda was already going for the ball - OUCH!! Her middle finger is swollen at the knuckle, and is all sorts of pretty colors, with a split down the middle. Of course - I missed this game due to the recital! GRR.
So - that covers tonight
Tomorrow - Amanda has a car wash from 8-4, while I am going to "Boots and Bridges" day with Sarah. Our school received a Service Learning Grant - they chose to use it building a nature trail throughout the acreage our school is on. The trail was cleared last fall - now they are building natural bridges with stones for the little creeks that you cross - and preparing all the educational info - Sarah can't wait. That gets over at 2 - then it's home for a quick shower, and back on the road to Littleton for the dance recital! We got out tonight around 9 = Saturday always lasts longer, as they do all the senior presentations - so we'll hit Bishops (THE BEST ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD!) for a treat around 10, I'm guessing.
Sunday - it's church in the AM - then Jennie has a Bicentennial concert (Our town is turning 200 this year) from 1=3:30.
Then Amanda has Confirmation dress rehearsal at 6 pm. We'll get home around 8 I hope!
Somewhere in there I really need to mow the lawn - It's WAY too high!

Re: Weekend Plans?
I'll be working at Samantha's shop tommorow, cleaning house, laundry, etc before then. Then, at 5, I have to meet the lawn care guy at my mom's old house (trying to get it ready to sell). At 5:30, DD#3 has a b-day party to go to, an hour away from home. That is scheduled until 7:30, but it is in the town my sister lives in, so we will probably meet her family for a late dinner.
Sun - DD#2 has a meeting for People to People, which enables children to travel around the world as representatives of the US (she is going to Montana - this age is a "practice" and will be re-foresting Yellowstone). She is not here, she is in France, so I will have to go and take her notes. Then, it is painting at mom's old house, and gardening at mine. I have 6 tomatoe plants, 8 pepper, and some zucchini and cantaloupe starts to plant.

Re: Weekend Plans?
Well originally we were supposed to go to Port Orford down by Coos Bay. (oregon beach) My husband has a conference there and a friend was offering up a cabin right on the beach. But unfortunately, by the time we could have left it was too late. I didn't want to arrive at midnight with the girls. It is a 6 hour drive. Oh well.
So now the girls and I are going to do laundry, clean house and find things to put in our garage sale pile. I am also hoping to go and see Shrek with the girls.
So a laid back weekend.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Re: Weekend Plans?
We went to Hersheypark in Pennsylvania yesterday for Band in the Parks. We drive for 2.5 hours and they play for five minutes, and then we spent the next eight hours riding water rides and coasters. It was fun, we got home to Maryland about 11 pm and slept till 9:30 this morning. It's not WDW, but it was a fun park. The kids had a great time and I yakked my head off with the other moms on the trip.

Re: Weekend Plans?
My parents came down for the weekend, so we took them out sightseeing yesterday. We went down to the coast where I work and showed them around, had ice creams and then lunch in beautiful sunshine and then I cooked dinner in the evening. Today we spent most of the day working hard in the garden - I'm exhausted now. I need to go back to work tomorrow for a rest!
