As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Your education...
OK, I haven't done one of these for a while, so let's try these questions:
How many schools did you attend?
Who was your favourite teacher and why?
What was your favourite subject at school and why?
Were your school days the best days of your life?
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study?
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education?
How many schools did you attend?
I went to three in total, one from the age of five to the age of nine, then we moved elsewhere in the country. I then finished up primary school (which goes up to age eleven) and then transferred to secondary school until the age of eighteen.
Who was your favourite teacher and why?
Mr. Vigrass, because he gave us responsibility at an early age - he used to let us look after his dog, take him for walks in our lunch-hours etc.
What was your favourite subject at school and why?
English Language - I loved writing stories.
Were your school days the best days of your life?
Definitely, but you don't realise it then.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study?
I went to two Universities - the University of Warwick for my first degree in Politics and then the London College of Printing to study a postgraduate course in radio journalism.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education?
Yep - I'm now doing a Diploma in Management Studies at work.

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? Three, infant, Junior and Secondry school, all in the same town.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? My favourite teacher was Mr Knight at Junior school, he always used to read us Roald Dahl stories.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? I used to like English and French, English because I found it fairly easy and used to enjoy writing stories and essays, oh and I love reading. French because our French teacher was very funny, she was French and she also looked like a bumble bee.
Were your school days the best of your life? Yes I used to enjoy school, by the time I was in the last year I was actually dreading leaving.
Did you go to University? No, this is one of my biggest regrets. I went to college when I finished school and studied travel and tourism. I applied for University in Edinburgh and was accepted but my parents didn't want me to go, they have never been to university and they wanted me to get a job.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? Yes, I have studies for several travel industry qualifications and also spanish. I also started an open University course but packed it in because I had just started a new job and didn't have the time to study.

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? Elementary (K-8th grade), and high school - all in the same town.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr. Paris - my 5th grade teacher. He really brought me out of my shell, and was just the most caring teacher I've ever had.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? I love Science classes (biology, chemistry, etc.) the most, but my strong suit was in grammer and literature. I just didn't enjoy those a much...
Were your school days the best of your life? While I enjoyed my school days, I think this is the favorite time of my life.
Did you go to University? Yes - I got my Computer Science / BIS degree (BS) from Elizabethtown College.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? Not if I can help it! Only if you count my DS's homework and studying...

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? skipped K, but 1-12, I attended 6 schools, 1 in New Jersey, 3 in Germany, and 2 in Oklahoma.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr. Romero, 6th gr, PHV elementary in Germany. He was very progressive, let us work at our own pace and I finished the curriculum by Christmas which freed up my Spring to be the school nurse assistant (I was so ..yeah, right!)
What was your favourite subject at school and why? Always Language Arts, I did well and really enjoyed using language
Were your school days the best days of your life? no, now is
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? I began at the University of Tulsa, transferred to Okla State (Final Four, Baby!) then quit to get married and have 2 DDs. After my divorce I went to Tulsa Junior College for an Assoc degree in Humanities (under water basket weaving, but it transfers!), then to Northeastern State (in Okla), then finally got my BA in English/Education w/ a minor in history from University of Tulsa (took the loooong way around! )
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? I did some post-grad at Oklahoma University, but stopped when I remarried and had 2 more DDs.
I was a public school teacher for 2 years and quit after being choked and threatened twice. I now homeschool my DDs, so my degree has paid off for me there! (now only if I understood physics and trig, I'd be in good shape!)

Re: Your education...
How many schools did you attend? 3. Elementary, Jr. High & High School
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Ugh. This is a hard one. It would actually be easier to pick out my least favourite teachers! I'll say my first grade teacher was my favourite one because I knew she genuinely loved us all. She made it very easy to make the transition to school life.
What was your favourite subject at school and why? I honestly don't think I had a favourite subject, I really didn't care for school. Probably art class in elementary school.
Were your school days the best days of your life? No. I was happy enough socially, especially in high school, but I hated the classes.
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? Yes. I attended one year at University of Saskatchewan, intending to major in Accounting. After I flunked that, the university sent me a not-so-nice letter informing me I wasn't welcome to return the next year. Worked out for the best since I was planning a wedding and didn't want to wait for a B.Comm degree. I wanted something more immediate and took a secretarial course.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? Nope. Remember? I hate school!

Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr. Schultz, grade 6. He taught us to love what we do, no matter what it is!
What was your favourite subject at school and why? English and writing, even though that is very far from my major. I was good at it and loved it.
Were your school days the best days of your life?
Did you go to University – if so which one and what did you study? I attended Queens College, New York for 2 years majoring in English lit, and then transferred to State University at Farmingdale, where I got my degree in Veterinary Technology.
Have you done any studying since leaving full time education? I attended paramedic school at Lehigh Valley Hospital in 1988, where I got my paramedic certification. I also must maintain 18 credits of education every year to keep my certification, so it is an ongoing process.
