Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

I need some advice (personal)

Everything is falling into place, and DH and I have decided it's time to start a family . Yesterday was my last day on the BCP. We have plans to go to Disney in May. Now, I don't anticipate getting pregnant prior to that, based on everything I've heard about trying to conceive after the pill. It is in my mind, however, that it could happen before my trip. If I were to get pregnant prior to May what would that do to my vacation plans? I'm not sure that I would want to go to Disney with morning sickness, fatigue, etc. My biggest concern would actually be the drive there (22 hrs) . We just bought a house, and are really stretching it to even go to Disney, but our plan was to have one last vacation with just the two of us. I know this is a decision that I have to make, but I would really appreciate any advice or words of wisdom!

Re: I need some advice (personal)

Michelle...Are you me in another body??! DH and I just spent the day looking at houses, as we are preparing to start a family and need someplace a bit more permanent. In addition, we have a May trip coming up and believe me, that thought factored into my thinking as well. Although we're not quite as ready as you are (need to get into a new house first) I had told DH that I would not want to go to WDW pregnant. That is just my opinion for myself, by no means what I necessarily think for others. I have a low tolerance for nausea, and we have been saving for this vacation for two years. Like you and your DH, we wanted to have one vacation together before starting our family.

Having said that, if you have a better tolerance than I do, you could definitely continue with your vacation plans and just be careful of what you ride. We are also driving and have quite a distance to go (17 hours) and I'm not sure how I would feel about being in the car for that long. Again, I'm prone to motion sickness, so this is just a personal opinion. Ultimately, it is going to depend upon how you feel. I would continue on with your vacation if your body tells you it's OK.

I hope things go well for you and your DH and that the timing of everything is exactly as you would like it!!

Everything I'm about to say is null and void
if your Dr. tells you different. My Dr. said it was
o.k. to do anything you normally do within moderation.
I snow skiied at 5 months with both of my boys. I'm
a really cautious skiier and didn't overdo it. As long
as I ate breakfast I was never nauseous. Hope the trip plans go smooth, before or after baby.

Re: I need some advice (personal)

I went to Disney when I was five months pregnant with Alex. It was over Christmas no less, so it was mega crowded. We also made the 20 hour drive via car.

It was a very exhausting trip, but I still had a ton of fun! Remember to drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks. Relaxing in the pool midafternoon did wonders for me. Also, have hubby massage your tooties after a day at the park.

Pregnant at Disney isn't as hard as you think. I still could ride a majority of the rides and saw all the shows. It makes you slow down and enjoy the little things.

Here's hoping you'll be pregnant soon!!!!

Re: I need some advice (personal)

If you get PG, you may not get morning sickness, I only did with the 2nd, not the 1st or 3rd.
Step-DD went last June 5 mos. gone, and had an okay time, she found the simulated rides hurt her stomach muscles. The heat was bad for her though.

I would say, if it happens, it happens. WDW will be just as great pregnant as it is not, and if you usually like the thrill rides and do not feel you can do them, it gives you time to explore the things that you might not otherwise.

I roller skated, rode bikes, rode horses, trampolined, and went water skiing pregnant with each kid. All are fine.

Re: I need some advice (personal)

Just my 2 cents. When DH and I decided to get pregnant the first time it really took a while. We had all these plans about what month the baby would be born, etc... but God had other plans. It took about 9 months just to GET pregnant. I did have a good bit of morning sickness and ended up eating a lot of peanut butter. But on the good side with our second child, we were able to definitivly identify that he was started on our trip to WDW in 1995 . In fact I think that commercial that the little girl says that "Mom calls him (her baby brother) 'our little souvenier' ' is actually our family. So maybe you'll still be be trying on your trip. Good luck.

Re: I need some advice (personal)

That is an exciting step! Just know that you very well could be pregnant by then. DH and I have been completely blessed twice: the first time was after 2 months of trying and the second after one attempt! I realize this is not common, but, it also can happen this way. You need to decide if you want to be pregnant at WDW, and know that you may be taking that risk. Having said that I also went to WDW with both pregnancies; 6 weeks and 10 weeks. I had a great time. In consultation with my mid-wife, I went on just about everything I wanted to, including RNR. I'm certainly not endorsing this. I just talked with her about the rides I wanted to do (I did not do any super jerky rides--Space Mountain, Body Wars, Dinosaur, etc.), and she reminded me how tiny the baby was at the time, and that it is being protected by 5 layers of tissue. She said the worse effect I would have was from the nausea stand point. So, talk with your doc/midwife and make an informed decision that YOU are comfortable with. Here's to some happy family planning ! Congratulations! That is thrilling!

Re: I need some advice (personal)

Sending you lots of I was on the BCP both times before getting pregnant. With my first, it took me 3 months. With the second, the next month I was pregnant. I wouldn't cancel your plans at all unless you are feeling really sick. I didn't have sickness with either, but have friends who did with both. I'm not sure the rhyme or reason behind it. That said, if your preggo or not, it may be the last time you have a vacation together as "just the two of you". I say go for it and have fun
