As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Checking in....and SNOWED IN. I don't even want to think about how many inches of snow I have on my car, but I think it's over 18. I'm waiting for DF's train to come in from NYC so he can shovel me out so I can go to work tomorrow. Of course, I guess I could do it on my own....but....I have too much homework to do! (Which is the truth...I'm just taking a study break, really! )

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Hi Tina, I'm here! Just checking in also. We got slammed with a blizzard up here and we've been digging out. But also, we're trying to get ready for the holidays. We went out yesterday in the storm (before it got really bad) and cut down our tree. Yippee!! Today is cookie dough making day. I have a feeling everyone is doing the same....shopping, baking, all the usual things in preparation of Christmas. I wrote a post yesterday, and...no response...nothing! LOL That's very unusual, but I attribute it to timing.

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
This is the first time I've logged on all day. I was lurking earlier, but it was so quiet, that I decided to try back later. Still pretty quiet around though. Everybody must be shopping!!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Snowed in here as well!! DH is on duty - luckily - seems like everyone has stayed home today. He got called out last night for a car fire - they tried to go up on a snow covered mountain road - got stuck, then caught the engine on fire!
Amanda's play was cancelled for this afternoon, but they did get in the Friday and Saturday night performances. I felt bad - there was almost no one in the audience, except for families, but they really did a wonderful job! Her friend's mom was giving a cast party after the matinee this afternoon, and that is still happening, so she was happy that Daddy's 4WD Suburban could get through! I haven't even touched my van!
We've decorated up our house - I'd forgotten I hit Disneystore.com's clearance last year!! Wow - I have all kinds of goodies this year!! I have a HUGE Santa Stitch - lots of ornaments, decorations, etc. I have a dancing, caroling Mickey - the girls have been playing with him all day!
We all built little gingerbread houses with graham crackers (Sarah couldn't wait for the gingerbread to bake - so I made cookies instead!) John's and Amanda's are engineering marvels!
I haven't been able to get on the computer much - still got lots to do on the trip report!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
The snow started on Friday and never stopped until this afternoon. We baked cookies all weekend, wrapped presents, and hung out with my parents. Yesterday I ran up to the hospital as well. This afternoon we ventured out (after getting over 13 inches of snow in total) to a few stores for gift certificates I needed to buy. It was a madhouse!!!! Fun though! I also got Alex's Christmas pictures too so I'll have to share soon!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
We are all just starting to feel human again!
We are so lucky that this strain of the flu, and it was some kind of flu....we were too achey and exhausted for it to be just a cold, didn't have accompaning stomach virus.
My little ones are still crying at the drop of a hat but the fevers seemed to have subsided and now if we could just get rid of the nagging cough......
I haven't done laundry in <font color="red"> 4 DAYS </font> so my floor is covered with too much work.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend!!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
We've had a busy day, starting with Sunday School and Church this morning, followed by the annual business meeting.
After worship, we had our pastor and his wife over for carrot soup, so Pastor Scott could explain an oppurtunity for D.B. to go to either Poland or Ukraine next October and teach seminary students through International Theological Education Ministries (ITEM). ITEM sends teachers over to train the native pastors. There aren't many seminaries in Eastern Europe, a holdover from communism. The teachers go usually for two weeks. Our church sends two men a year, and D.B. is qualified (has his MDIV and the recommendation of the church elders), so he will likely be going next October. I'm soooo excited for him. This all came up after D.B. filled the pulpit this last October while Pastor Scott was gone with ITEM. After hearing him, the elders felt he has grown so much in his teaching and preaching gifts, he would be a great teacher for ITEM. Scott listened to the sermon tapes upon his return and agreed. The best part is that the church funds this ministry as our main mission focus, so there would be almost no out of pocket cost for him to go. Flights are paid for, and housing and meals are provided by host families (usually pastors) overseas.
We had from 3-5pm to ourselves, then went out to dinner with our best friends, who are graduating from seminary in two weeks and are moving to Raleigh to live with her folks until they find their call. We've had dinner dates with them almost every week for the last 2 1/2 years and we are really sad to be losing them. We had a great time tonight, though, and will be attending a graduation party for Adam next friday and helping them pack in our spare time.
Then, D.B. did some reading while I made out our Passporter Christmas cards (all done!) and now I'm headed to bed. Whew!
Have a great night, everyone.

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
<font color="0066cc"> We're finally finished with the bedroom renovation. Whew!
This morning I spent doing something I find so extremely relaxing and I'm able to kind of meditate while I'm doing it -- quilt! Ahhhh! I feel so wonderful because quilting is so peaceful for me. This afternoon we had to go to the mall. DD found some hair dye that she's been looking for -- hot pink! So once we got home, I had to help her colour her hair. Now she has hot pink on top and her natural blonde underneath! And while I was colouring her hair, I found some head lice on her. Ugh. Any suggestions are welcomed! I'm pretty sure that we can't treat the lice for a couple of days since we colour treated her hair -- who knows what colour it will turn if we use insecticide shampoo right away!
ANyhow, that's how my day has gone!</font>

I was thinking that yesterday. I think quite a few folks have been away at MouseFest, but there are still some of us left!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Been busy here as the holiday season has really taken off - parties, shopping, church activities and work have kept us busy! Probably we'll start some holiday baking this week, and we've got breakfast with Santa this Saturday and a private portrait setting with Santa and Mrs. Claus coming up this week too!
Been checking the boards early in the morning before the days take off - Merry Christams everyone - enjoy the holiday season!!

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Was on Saturday morning, but just watched the snow fall otherwise. Couldn't get motivated to do anything (DS was still sick Sunday) so just cleaned up a little and layed around. Took DD out in the snow Sunday, but all it took was for one gust of wind to blow snow in her face and she was done (nevermind it was probably only 10 degrees with the windchill ) It's Monday, so I'm feeling more motivated today

Re: Wow, where is everyone?
Hi Tina, I'm here. Snowed a lot, and was just working on preparations for the big celebration. Decided not to get online in case we had power problems, but thankful that we didn't. Church was cancelled yesterday. No school today (although I don't see why not since everything seems fine).
I think that everyone is at Mousefest for sure. The rest of us will simply have to hold the fort! Have a great day everyone!
