As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
What would you do if you were given a one day park hopper pass to all four WDW parks? What attractions would you see? Where would you eat breakfast, lunch and dinner? What you definitely buy? Where would you spend your only night?

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
We would definitely do the following:
MK: Splash Mtn., Big Thunder Mtn., Buzz Lightyear, Peter Pan
Epcot: Test Track, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Spaceship Earth
MGM: ToT, Rock & Roller Coaster, Muppet 3D, Millionaire
AK: Dinosaur
Could we do all that in one day?
As far as eating, if we only had one to do 4 parks, I'd probably skip eating. Maybe stop at Morocco in World Showcase and then France for dessert!
How about another spin on this question: If you could only go to one Disney park, which would you choose? We're debating that very question, so I'd love to hear others' answers!

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
Okay,
All four park touring plan:
Skip AK
Start at MGM - Get a FastPass for R-n-R
Go on ToT, see Muppets, by this time it should be time for the R-n-R ride
Go to Epcot
Go on Spaceship Earth.
Walk around the World Showcase, riding on Maelstrom, and picking up a Pretzel at Germany, and a Beavertail at Canada on the way up (good carbohydrate-filled lunch there!)
Head over to MK and spend the rest of the day there.
Must see Tiki Room, Pirates, HM, Splash, TTA and Pooh. Other attractions as able. Would try a hot dog at Casey's (have been wanting to try one, and this would be fast and quick for this commando-style touring day), and end it off with a Dole Whip! Pick up a Mickey Pecan turtle on my way out of the park, after buying a few items on Main St.
Since we're only staying one night, I guess I can afford the Polynesian, so I would stay there.
Now, if only one park, MK, hands down. I can't imagine being at WDW and not getting to go to MK.

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
Wow Michelle! That is such a toughie with trying to pick only one park. I love them all equally. Let's see! I think I would rule AK out, just cause It is similar to a zoo and I can really see animals at the local zoo anytime! MK, MGM and Epcot are all so wonderful, but so very different. MK is good if you want to get a little mix of all that the world has to offer. It has some awesome rides, but then some awesome attractions too. Epcot is good for the educational side of things. MGM is good for its rides and take on movies. I would have to say that if I just had one day...I would go to MK, just cause it is what I think of first when I think of WDW and the first park I go to when I go there. Hope this helped!

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
Oh , how fun. I'd start in the MK and do HM, PoC, Splash Mtn, BTMRR, Cinderlla's Carousel, and Buzz.
On to AK for Kali River Rapid and the ITTBAB.
I'd probably skip MGM unless I could squeeze in Fantasmic. Maybe a quick game of WWTBAMPI.
I'd finish at EPCOT with a ride on Spaceship Earth , Living with the land and a stroll around WS. And end the night with Illumination.
I think I would just snack around the world! Dole whips, beaver tails, popcorn, mickey bars, turkey legs!
If I could only do one park, I would spend the day in the MK!

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
For one day only...stay at Yacht Club.
Breakfast ouside at Beaches & Cream. Walk to Epcot. Test Track FastPass, Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, The Land.
Walk back to YC. Lunch at Beaches & Cream. Daiquiris and floating in Stormalong Bay.
Back to Epcot late afternoon for World Showcase. Dinner outside at Rose & Crown for Illuminations. Raid MouseGear and take the long way out around World Showcase for the walk back to YC. Swim in the quiet pool/hot tub.
That's a pretty good day.

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
Fun question! I would start the day with the opening of the AK (I hear it's cool). I would hit Dinosaur, Safari, and possibly Kali. I would then hit MGM for Millionaire, RnR (maybe ToT if I'm brave), and Star Tours if time permits. I would shoot over to Epcot where I would do Universe of Energy, the Land and Test Track. I would watch Illuminations and then head over to MK because it would be an e-ride night!
For meals I would probably end up with counter service, wherever. Actually, since this isn't real, I would squeeze in a quick hop to Fulton's for the Claws! Undoubtably I would eat my way around the parks with my touring!

Re: Only Given One Day at WDW...What Would You Do?
Wow! Breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Start with MK - Space and Splash Mountains, Peter Pan and Haunted Mansion. Over to the Studios to ride Tower of Terror and Rock-n-Roller Coaster. Over to Epcot for Test Track and Spaceship Earth. Skip lunch - heading now over to AK for Dinosaur, It's Tough to Be a Bug, and Legend of Lion King. Over to my resort, AKL, for dinner at Boma and back to MK for Spectromagic and Fantasy in the Sky with one last trip on the Haunted Mansion in the dark! Whew!

Steve, your itinerary sounds just like what my family would do. I tell them they're not happy on a ride unless it blows their hair back!
