As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hi all,
My DH and I are traveling to Cheltenham UK , arriving on Wednesday and heading to DLP via a flight from Birmingham to CDG arriving at 8 (20:00) on Friday night for a whirlwind 2 day trip to DLP. He'll be doing training for thurs and part of friday and, lucky me- suggested I join him so we could go to Paris for the weekend and do Disneyland the way they do it France. SO, we wont have as much jet lag to deal with as the days before but would like to get to the Seqouia asap to get some good zzzz's to be fresh and excited to open the parks. Thinking the 10 minute trip of the TGV would be awesome compared to other options. There is a train leaving at 8:49 for 40 US and one at 9:15 for 26 US. I don't really want to wait for the later one, but need to know if realistically, we can catch the earlier one with having to get off the plane and get luggage. I don't know, if I did buy that more expensive train ticket, what the ramifications are if we missed it. Anyone want to weigh in? Also, is it best to buy the tickets ahead of time, price wise or to save time when arriving?
In general, I would definitely buy the tickets ahead of time so that you won't have to deal with the ticket machines once you're there. Time-wise, I think you should be fine for the earlier train since you're not on a long-distance flight. Personally, I like to be on the safe side so I'd pick the later time. I assume you've never been to CDG (and it's a big airport), you'll have checked luggage you need to pick up, and then you'll have to navigate the train station as well.
If you buy the cheapest ticket for a particular time, that ticket will be non-refundable. If you miss your train, you're out of luck. You can pay a few euros extra to get a refundable ticket BUT those are only 100% refundable before your planned departure time. After that, you only get 50% back.
I'd probably just go with the later departure time to be on the safe side as it is the cheaper option anyways.
Thank you for your sage advice. I'm guessing you are the author of the Passporter guide to DLP. I am actually reading it in between checking out sources referenced in the book. I'm flitting and floating around like Tink having fun discovering all there is to see about DLP. 9 days ago my husband was offered the opportunity to go the England. He looked at me when he got the message and said,"Wanna go with?" and then I couldn't believe my ears when he said that we'll stay the weekend and go to Disneyland Paris. I'm the disney geek and he has always been a good sport and gone along for the ride, but this was a BIG surprise! I'm a planner, starting well before the 180 day mark for all our Disney trips since our 2nd trip to WDW 12 years ago. This short time frame has been a whirlwind of arrangements over the last week, and I've learned a lot but the fun has just begun! This IS our first trip to Europe and DLP so we are so excited and thrilled to have the opportunity. We wont know our way around the airport and will need time to get luggage so we'll take the 9:16 so we don't have to worry about missing it. Arriving on Air France so will be in terminal 2 right? ( one of the many) I think I read that the TGV is around there. Is that so?
BTW- Packer Fan? We send a big green and gold GoPackGO! to you from just south of Green Bay,Wisconsin!
How awesome that you're able to accompany your DH and make it a fun trip Yep, I'm the author of the DLP PassPorter guidebook
Yes, you'll arrive in Terminal 2 and the train station is nearby. Just follow the signs. I found the train station itself to be a bit more difficult to navigate but we found the TGV platform without too much trouble.
Oh, yeah, BIG Packers fan. I've lived in Green Bay for a while so naturally, I became a cheesehead for life
Advice on taking an 8 a.m. or 9 a.m. TGV for an 11:15 flight home on Monday morning?
Ah now this one I might be able to help with. Given where we live (20 minutes from the international rail stations, so we can take the train direct to Disneyland Paris or 40 minutes to the Channel Tunnel where we can then drive across), I have never flown to Paris in my life. However, I do know with international flights, the advice I always give and that the airlines usually give is to arrive at the airport three hours before your flight is due to leave, so I'd definitely go for the earlier one. It's always better to allow additional time, given the security in place now.
I agree with Chez, definitely pick the 8 am train! Lines at security can get long so it's always better to be on the safe side - especially for transatlantic flights!
Instinct told me to take the earlier on too. Good to have two confirmations. Thank you!
I am honored to have "talked" with two Passporter guides and writers. I have enjoyed many an article here on Passporter's as well as both your contribuions to other publications. I was on Air Frances website and see that, if it doesn't change, we will arrive at the 2E gates, so we'll have to go only a short way to get to the TGV. Is luggage collection far? This s the last I'll intterupt your day, again, THank you so much for you help.
