As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I am going over and over everything. I have 2 days scheduled for Busch Gardens. Is that too many with a 12 and 7 yr old? Is there anything in that area that we can do with them? Planning to shop with some friends in and around WDW. What are your thoughts????

If it helps any, we're doing 2 days at SW so we can really take our time, see all the shows etc. If it's going to be this hot next month in Disney that it's been this week, you'll appreciate all the time you have. It means you can take you time and if need be, leave the park early to get out of the heat.
Thanks everyone!! I hope the heat is over with by teh time we get down there (a girl can hope LOL)
I was figuring it out too, and for the price of one ticket, you can get two. I am thinking of doing that for dh and ds and then me and dd will go to seaworld too so get the unlimited park pass for 14 days.
I hope we enjoy Busch gardens because I was really wondering if we could do 2 days there, but I figure this is a once in a lifetime trip to there, so better enjoy it while we can.
We were able to see and do/ride everything in one day at Busch gardens. They don't have a lot of shows like some parks do.

We went for the first time in March. We took 2 days at Busch. We bought the express pass for one day & that got us one ride on each of the main rides. When are you going? We went at "spring break", and bought the pass for the 2nd day because the lines were REALLY long the first day we went. Those lines ate up most of our 1st day and we never saw shows, or hit all the rides. Their coasters are great, so the express pass the second day were worth the $$ to us. I can't wait to go back, but next time we'll plan to go for 3 days.
I am still up in the air what to do. Dh is now wanting to spend 2 days at Universal, which means we would have to cut down Busch Gardens by one day maybe. I want to shop in Orlando too and planned for 2 days shopping, but really, I think I could do it in one full day and I don't think the kids would want 2 days shopping. But this means that me and dd will have to figure out what to do on our own for a 2nd day too and I don't really want to drive around Orlando on my own.

We did 2 days at Busch. And that was back in the day when they had FPs free! There was a show inside that came close to a broadway production, other outside shows, a Flights of Wonder type show, a couple of water raft type rides, and loads of coasters!! Which we had to do, all of them!! A 3D movie, plus the animals. They also had a skyway over the savana. There really is a lot to covet, 1 day won't do it all.
You also need 2 days for Universal at least. So if 2 days Busch means you can't do 2 dsys Universal, I'd pick 2 days Universal I guess. And look thru Busch Gardens web site, and prioritize.
We usually split our trips, if we are going to wdw, that's All we do, Then we have had trips where we just do SeaWorld, Busch Gardens Universal.

Thanks Sue. I think we came up with an idea. We are still doing 2 days at Busch Gardens and with the humidity, I don't want to push it til we are used to it more.
My ds only wanted to do one day at Universal but it is dh that wants 2 We might do both and with dd and I going to Sea World 2 times in the morning and then shopping in the coolness in the afternoon in the mall. We will also head back to Orlando from Tampa around 9a.m so we can shop that one day. It will be crazy but this might be our last time back in a very very long time, so better do it while we can.
Thanks for your ideas. We need 2 days at Busch, and then we can shop in Tampa too
Sounds like you've got it all figured out! But DH us right, if you are planning on going to both Universal parks, you'll need 2 days.
I am looking forward to seeing Harry Potter, but have to wait till my younger DD can come. She just grad. college in June, so depends on what job she finds, and if she can get the time off when I can go, I work in a high school. She'll kill me if I go to UA without her, lol. And my oldest dd doesn't do US coasters, lol. So I'll have a coaster buddy with youngest! We did Sheikra at Busch! Omg!!
Sue: What was Sheikra like?? There is no way that I am going on those roller coasters. Nope. Dh has to take the kids LOL. But if there is one tamer one out of the bunch, which would you choose? Is there a ride that looks fiercer than it actually is???
Very humid today here, so I is preparing us for Florida. It is the humidity that will be hard on us, not the walking.
Air Grover (kiddie coaster)
Sand Serpent (wild mouse, like Goofy's Sky School at DCA or Primeval Whirl with no spinning)
Scorpion (one small loop)
Cheetah Hunt (family coaster with three launches, sort of as agressive as Space Mountain)
Sheikra (now getting into the big boys)
Gwazi (rough but rideable)
Montu (goes upside down 7 times)
Kumba (most aggressive in the back row, this roller coaster will beat you silly )
I would say if you want to ride the "tame" roller coasters, you can try Air Grover, Sand Serpent, Scorpion, and Cheetah Hunt. Try Gwai, but it does get a little rough (but rideable) and kind of forgettable for me.
