I was thinking about this as I was mowing the grass. When I got my first car, it was a orange 1969 Toyota Corolla. It had personality, so I named it Herbie. This car was one of the first that Toyota made, and yes, it had rust. It could only go 90 kms, and going up the hills it would putter. It had a manual choke, that you had to pull out to get it started. Friends used to lift it up and move it around when I was inside it was that light-funny. However, I never named one after that. Does anyone do this anymore or is this a throw back to the 80's??? Just curious if anyone has a car that they have named and why.

My first car was named Sally....it was a Mustang, so not very creative.

My current car is a green Forerunner named Brandon. No idea why I named it that. It was just a name I liked and I was in college when I got it so we all had named cars.

My kids named my son's car Penelope. I've never named a car before.

I named my bff's cars, but not mine... maybe if I liked my vehicle I would...

My bff had a Dodge(?) Caliber which we called Calie-Rae... and now she has a Nitro so we call her Jenny (Nitro-Jenny actually).

I named all of my band instruments. My Euphonium was Ferdinand and my Trumpet is Herbie.

I have a "laser blue" Equinox and her name is Smurfette.

My DD named her car Stella. No one else in my family has named their cars but we all call Stella, Stella!

Didn't name the next few, but now...
My 1996 GMC Jimmy is Duck....because it is the same teal green you seen on mallard ducks.
My DH has a Dodge Dakota...I call it DD and not for the reason you think. I call it that because when we got it and took it out to show off to my Dad. I asked if he wanted to come out to see it and he (being a die hard GMC man) said, "Why, it's just another d**n Dodge."

I never names my cars but i do remember when corollas first came out. One of my college roommates bought one is the days they were advertised for $1995.00 (brand, spanking new)

Wow, I am impressed that someone knows what type of a car I am talking about...thankyou Mine was 2nd hand and I spent $500 for it. I sold it after my foot went through the floor due to rust for $500 about 5 yrs later. It was a standard. I am making sure that my kids know how to drive standards....they are fun I own a Prius so a distant relative of Herbies LOL I never knew how important a first car was or I would have taken more photos of it.

I've always named my cars: Pierre Renault LeCar was the first. Then came Tony Corolla, Rocky the RAV4, Frank (a blue Rav named after old Blue Eyes), and now I have AG, a silver RAV. Our company cars at work are Nemo (a blue VW bug), Moby (a huge white van), an huge old station wagon named Moses, and twin pick-ups: Siegfried and Roy.

My very first car was a white Grand Am named Bob, my next car was a black Taurus named the Batmobile. Then I had a van that I never named. Now, I drive a light blue Nissan Maxima. I haven't named it yet but I'm thinking of Donald since it's blue and I would really love to find Donald stuff to go in it. I'll wait to see if I find the stuff before I name it.

Every car I own I call Lena. My great grandfather whom I never met called his vehicles that. It stuck with my mom and apparently I picked up on it because I just started doing it, lol.

My dad had an old beat up station wagon that got stolen once. After we got it back he called it "Runaway". I had a 2005 Suzuki XL7 that I called Ichiro after Ichiro Suzuki the Seattle Mariner outfielder. Even had personalized plates that read "Ichiro". My Volkswagon GTI doesn't have a name, but when asked if its fast, I always answer "It Scoots" so maybe I ought to call him "Scooter"

I've named a few of my cars. The first a 1973 green Vega hatchback was Herman Fred Vega. Our first car together was named Aslan K. Aries (it was a Dodge Aries). My red Escape was the Mickey Mobile and my current Edge with all its technology is the Starship Enterprise.
