As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It's 96 here today. According to the local weatherman, that's about 8-10 degrees hotter than we usually have. It even seems hot inside. My house is 3 levels & we have 2 heat pumps. Upstairs has one just for there & the other one covers the bottom 2 levels (our basement is finished in). The upstairs is really hard to keep cool when it gets over 90 degrees. We have ceiling fans & a tower fan in the hallway that helps. I almost got over-heated just walking my dog earlier. I'm ready for Fall!
Yes, it is smokin' hot here in GA! My neighbors went to the zoo today.... Everytime Ive went outside today I think of how miserable they must be walking around in that heat with no relief....
We are in WDW right now but it's hotter at home in Michigan last week than it was here in FL! We are boiling right now, it feels like we are on the surface of the sun right now!
Yes, even in southwest Florida we are cooking! Yesterday and today we are having record heat. It was 96 yesterday and today about the same but with the heat index it is in the low 100's!
96 here right now with heat index of 104....makes it tough to be "training" for the WDW 1/2 marathon in January. I have access to an indoor track but it is still somewhat warm in there! UGH!! I am ready for cooler temperatures too!!
Cooking here as well, although we have had a small respite yesterday and today with pop up thunderstorms. Heading back into the upper 90's tomorrow and the rest of the week.
Oh yes indeedy, we're a cookin!
It's 92 right now, at 5:45pm! And it's cooler than it's been for a few days. We're now into over 2 weeks of 90+ degree temps.
We also have an upstairs that is hard to cool once it gets hot. The basement is the best place for us, although our main floor isn't bad, since most of our windows face south and we have a veritable forest out the south side! (Lots and lots of shade).
We've also had very little rain this month, after a ton of rain in May and June!
We were in Italy a couple of weeks ago, and they were in the middle of a heat wave with 39 degree Celsius temps. That's 102 to you and me!! And that was on the shore! It was even hotter in the city!
The most important thing to remember is: Stay hydrated!! Drink, drink, drink - and not alcohol or soda!
High in the low 80's today and for most of the next 10 days. We've had 5-6 days above 90 and last weekend it was in the upper 90's but we were back to normal last Monday. We do not have air conditioning but we are in the woods and well shaded.
It's starting to look like rain & I hope that it does. everyone be careful not to get dehydrated. Even if you're not outside much, you still can dehydrated. Anything with alcohol or caffeine causes dehydration so avoid them as much as possible. You need water or sports drinks. If you are feeling thirsty, you have already started getting dehydrated.
This afternoon it was around 92 degrees here in the southern suburbs of Chicago. My dad just got back from Natalia, TX where it has been around 102 - 104 degrees non stop the last 5 weeks he was there.
DH and I had lunch downtown and then walked around a bit today. I am usually totally fine with the south GA heat (I'm a "jeans, sweatshirt, and a coat" person if it's below 75 ), but today I was sweating like crazy and kept commenting how hot it was. I must have popped into like 5 different stores for a bottle of water, and we only walked around - slowly - for about 1 1/2 hrs. When we got home I immediately checked out our thermometer - 103...in the shade, and not taking humidity into account. I can't even imagine with that heat index was. No wonder I felt a little warm....

I'm having a difficult time training for the Princess. The heat and humidity is still brutal at 6am. I can't get up any earlier. I can't stay on the treadmill for 7 miles!
I'm done with this heat! Today was 29 days in a row of over 100 degrees ( and 36 days this year). We tied our second longest streak and it doesn't seem to be get any better in the forecasts. Not to mention we are in extreme drought, we need rain.

Totally agree....did 2 and 1/2 miles this morning SLOW at 7:15 and it was awful!!! At least I have hopes of cooler temps this fall to finish up training for DW half marathon. Good luck on your race training!
So far we've only had a handful of days in the 90's and that's enough for me. You all need to come up to New Hampshire or Maine for some fresh air and a break from the heat. (This statement better not jinx me and bring on weeks of sweltering heat!)
