Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

I think I'm taken care of...I've asked for tickets to the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker cause that's the ultimate way to get into the Christmas mood! He was worried that since the ballet is on the 30th that I'd be dissappointed on Christmas Day, but has solved that problem by deciding that he'll just buy a "token" present for me to open that day...socks, maybe?

As for DH, and others of you may be able to relate: The boy is IMPOSSIBLE to shop for!! Sigh.

So, what are your plans?

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

My shopping is just about done...the only people I had left were FIL & BIL, but I just found out that Brooks Brothers is having a 25% off sale this weekend, so that will be wrapped up in the next two days!

DH & I have agreed this year to set strict limits on how much we spend on each other. It's always a challenge to see how many gifts we can get each other on $150!

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

Last year when DH and I were Christmas shopping I tried on a black leather jacket, but even the X-Large was too snug. I had already started dieting and knew that I wanted to loose about 60 lbs. Well as of THIS Christmas I am down 57 lbs. and am ready for that jacket!
I have NO CLUE what DH wants for Christmas or anybody else for that matter!

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

I have no kids. I have one step-grandchild who is five and has everything he needs. My second Mom is house bound, she had a stroke about 5 years ago and has difficulty walking and lives with my step-sister. So last year I told them I was giving toys to our TV station toy drive and filling shoe boxes for our church for kids that don't have anything. They all think it is fine and I enjoy getting stuff for kids that don't have anything.

My girl friend, former next door neighbor's daugher is expecting in May and I have started a baby blanket. I might buy something for the baby,l have already bought two toys.

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

I have hinted, no anounced is better, that I would like a Dale Jarrett leather baseball cap. I've even showed some folks here were the site is in my favorites. Will I get it? Most likely not if past experience holds. Then I'll buy it myself after Christmas.

I'm getting my a new watch and a bucket of oils, bath oils, soap, bubble bath. Comes in a silver bucket (which can be used to cool a Champaign bottle.

Like Marie, my present (and my DH's and my DS's) is our trip to WDW! Now of course we will have something for Wyatt to open under the tree, but the trip is our BIG present! I can't wait!

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

DH is done. He's getting Grumpy loungwear, the Monster's Inc. pin set and the Villians lanyard with pins all from the DS catalog. He is also getting a rather pricey VHF Marine radio.

I have only asked for two things. DH gave me a beautiful opal ring for our first anniversary. I had it two weeks, hit my hand in a doorway at work and broke the opal into two pieces. I have requested that the stone be replaced. I also asked for gift certificates for my nail salon.

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

DH and I have decided not to get each other anything this year, since the thing I wanted most is a hole in the yard (swimming pool). We'll just save it to get some pool furniture in the spring. And it will be a challenge to get everyone else's Christmas bought and paid for before Christmas this year!

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

Because we have over 40 gifts to buy for our family and friends, DH and I always set a really low limit. This year we're going to wait until we are in Disney and pick stuff out there! I have some shopping done, one catalog with a lot of post-its for most of the rest and some will be bought in WDW!

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

This year DH and I set a $200 limit. He's almost done, I just need to get him stocking stuffers and boring stuff like socks and underwear.

Ladies, isn't it amazing how long guys will hold on to underwear!?!? If it has holes, throw it out! I don't care how comfortable it is!!

Anyway, I have not given DH my Christmas list yet, but I plan to ask for a manicure gift certificate, some CD's, perfume, etc.. DH always buys me good gifts!

We want to get a DVD/VHS player, so that will be our present to each other. Since that won't be a surprise, we will probably pick out a couple of small gifts for each other.

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

DH and I don't buy for each other since Alli was born. We give her a huge Christmas. DH hates to shop, so in a sense I am giving him a super present by not making him do any Christmas shopping. He doesn't want anything either and usually doesn't care for what I pick out. If we want anything we usually just go out and buy it. Our list of wants is pretty small. Also for the first time this year we are not buying for his or my brothers and sisters. They aren't buying for us either. It's just easier that way. Christmas is for the kids and I pretty much do another Christmas for my nieces and nephew.

Re: What did you ask your Santa for? What are you getting for him/her?

We've decided on a $100/person limit this year for our family. DH wants a Blockbuster Gift Cert. I want one for www.motherwear.com. DS is getting his gifts from Santa. And Santa shops at The Green Caboose for him.
